I think it depends. This year wouldn't have been that bad, although either Stanford or Michigan State would have been left out for Alabama and really there would have been the only controversy. But We'll see next year.

Back to another year of college football. I think Baylor might be a team to keep on eye on this year. Not sure how they're doing it, but they seem to be building quite a football powerhouse down there in the Big 12.

Just so I can get another plug in for NDSU, ESPN Game Day is back in Fargo, ND tomorrow; on the heels of the Bison winning their 27th consecutive game last Saturday; which I think is the longest current winning streak in college football.

division II ..... yeah, great job.....lol

as far as Baylor.... they are entertaining.... but their defense has always been suspect. They can dang sure win a game 70-63..... but the fact their defense got torched for 63 points against a team like Rice is overlooked because 70 points is fun to watch.

They will become an elite team when they can shore up that defense

NDSU plays Division I FCS. Baylor is currently ranked 8th in the nation, they haven't played Rice since 2011.

NDSU plays nobody teams.... they are the Boise State of 2014

Whoever Baylor played.... They get torched on defense by mediocre teams.... but because they score 80 points... they win and it doesn't get mentioned they gave up 65 points to a Rice type of team.

Baylor always chokes one away, and don't end up in a national championship game.

Offensively, I put them right up there with any other team.... defensively, though.... they suck... which is why they aren't an elite team in my book.

Yeah I know, NDSU plays nobody teams like Iowa State, Kansas State, Colorado State, Minnesota, and Kansas; all Division 1 FBS schools. NDSU wins all five of them.

I'm not either, but I think the biggest problem Bama faces is their weakness has been exposed.... the hurry up kills them.

This is just an evolution of the game, and defenses have to figure out how to adjust to it. They will eventually, even if it's "faking a cramp"

I saw Maryland was crying about how WVU ran over 100 plays against them.

WVU game Bama everything they wanted using the same technique in week 1. Bama was just a more athletic team than WVU is, so they survived.... but AU, OU.... they are just as athletic as Bama.... so teams like that know how to beat Bama....

aTm vs Bama will be an interesting game to watch this season.
LSU bama.... and of course, AU/bama....

Bama could legitamately have 4 losses this season

in anticipation of FSU Clemson this week..... here are a few of the best plays EVER in the series....

Yeah I know, maybe those teams should move down to D-II, and NDSU move up to D-I FBS. Kansas State though, was ranked #23 last year, and they also lost to the Bison.

NDSU rolled over Iowa State 34-14 two weeks ago, and Iowa State beat Iowa on Saturday. Doesn't say much for Iowa State, Iowa, or D-I FBS, does it? Or, it says quite a bit about NDSU.

Jeff Sagarin computer rankings thru 9/13/2014: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaaf/sagarin/ Bison come in at #37.

in a way they do look like last year's team, a team which can't deal with up tempo offense

in another way they don't look like last year's team because they can barely get plays off before the clock expires

Cooper is gone next year so I see the help wanted sign

Wanted- QB to lead a major Div 1 football program

must be willing to play a system who refuses to use tight ends, refuses to use crossing routes

Doesn't say much about the Big X, that's for sure.

NDSU is not a bad team.... but who they played this weekend was a joke... and Gameday was there covering it.

Bama had their run, and teams are finally adjusting to it. Up tempo gives them fits, but WVU, couldn't beat them even though they are up tempo. The reason? Bama has more and better athletes.

Bama will always be a contender with Saben..... but if he refuses to adjust to up tempo, he will simply become a South Carolina of the conference. A good team, that may or may not when

I was pulling for KY so FL can finally be rid of a def coordinator pretending to be a head coach.

Well, they all busted their tails and played well. So win or lose, there's no shame in it. IMO Kentucky effectively broke their losing streak to Florida even though Florida won the game on paper.

Well, tomorrow we have Florida State vs. Oregon in the Rose Bowl, and Alabama vs. Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl.

Jeff Sagarin, who I think has a pretty good algorithm for ranking football teams, has Alabama #1, Oregon #2, Ohio State #3, and Georgia #4. Florida State (13-0)??? He has them ranked #14. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaaf/sagarin/ So maybe there is some reason to think that Florida State doesn't even belong in the final 4.

Seems to me, Alabama should defeat Ohio State, and Oregon crush Florida State.

and MS State and Ole Miss showed that they peaked early season and went down from there.
TCU made the Land Sharks look like goldfish

Georgia, despite injuries, controlled a team which almost defeated FSU.

The trick to defeating Oregon is to stop Mariota from running. It's easier said than done but maybe FSU learned a few things when they played Tech

As for Urban, I bet he comes out with the long ball. He knows the weakness of Bama

the playoffs are giving us 3 teams with a rich history and 1 team looking to to show that it deserves to hang with them.

I see now that Sagarin has TCU ranked #1, with no chance to prove it in the current playoff system. I think what all this boils down to is that the FBS needs to expand these playoffs to at least 8 teams, to make sure they include all the potential #1 caliber clubs.

Oregon has proved they belong and whipped Florida State. The Irish beat LSU proving they can stand against an SEC team and Wisconsin scrapped by Auburn.

I like Oregon's style...it could be their year. Florida State showed their true colors....arrogant winners and poor losers.

    And how about TCU????

I can't say I'd shake hands with a team doing a "no, means, nooooo" to the warchant tomohawk chant either.

Jamies and the starters did shake hands though.

The evolution of the game has gone to that hurry up. Oregon was running plays every 10-15 seconds. I know AU did that too, last season... but Oregon has upped it to the next level. I'm not against that, or suggesting a rule against it like Saben did last season... but teams are going to have to learn how to adjust to it and defend against it.

FSU offense ran a traditional tempo, and Oregon defense could adjust and substitute.
Oregon offense gased our defense (who was shaky at best this season anyways)

Next year, you will see a lot more teams running the hurry up, and hopefully, FSU can learn to run it too and adjust for it on defense better.

    13-1
    29 straight

    I am fine with that.

Last time FSU lost, I didn't even know my now wife. during this time since FSU last lost... has been a helluva great life for me.....
