I think they are using an example to explain progressive liberalism, and yes, absolutely it is the scourge of a social ideology and needs to be eradicated.

We should let men, who identify as women, use the ladies restroom, compete in female athletics, even appoint vice presidents based on if they have a vagina or a penis (color of skin is extra credit)

- Progressive liberals scream and moan about Aunt Jamima, representing a servant or slave on a bottle of syrup. Remove the Indian from Land-o-Lakes they say!

- Progressive liberals boycott a chicken restaurant because the ownership is religious and closes on Sundays

- Progressive liberalism results in NON-STOP bitching and moaning about how everything is offensive

Then

- A company, in an effort to appease them, makes additional changes in the name of inclusivity

- A talk show and twitter feed says "this is getting stupid"

They must think it's what milennials want. I'm afraid they focus grouped the ideas and milennials really do want them.

They think it mollifies potential customers. They are wrong. They should stay away from politics and social warfare completely. They should welcome all customers and not try to engineer their reputation. Nobody require a business to think like they do. People choose to patronize a business because the business provides the product, or service they seek. Business should concentrate on providing the best products, services and value they can. That is what draws customers.

An ad for candy should concentrate on the flavor and satisfaction a customer would enjoy with their product. I see automobile ads that sell lifestyle. Those ads turn me off. Tell my why a car suits my needs and desires better than another car. I'm not interested in how sophisticated a car owner is. I'm interested in how a car will serve my needs. We have a lot of bad advertising these days.

I bought a new Subaru a couple of years ago. I did so because the car has a solid reputation for reliability and a lot of safety features. It was affordable and even made in the U.S.A. The car was for my wife and the reliability and safety boxes were checked before I went to the dealer. Their ads promote their interest in pet charities. Those ads drive me nuts. The company has a good product to sell yet they waste advertising trying to look good to pet owners. It is ridiculous, even though my wife and I are pet owners.
