France's reimposition of a state of health emergency and the introduction of curfews are the consequence of sudden and spectacular acceleration in the spread of the Covid-19 virus. The curfew will come into force from midnight on October 17 in and around Paris and eight metropolitan areas.

    that's awesome

translated= lockdowns, masking up, killing businesses did not work

So, do it all over again so there are appearances of the govt doing something. The virus will run its' course whether you lock down or not and this clearly shows, locking down did nothing but kill economies and empower govt and scare the heck out of people.

All over a virus that yes, is highly contagious but not a death sentence.

200,000 plus Americans would beg to differ with you......if they were still around to do it.

    Actually, the. shutdown did work.

A second wave had been predicted since last Spring. This was expected, and is being dealt with.

Contrary to your claim, France, as a nation, did what nearly all first world countries did, and which Trump refused to do.

Consequently they have much lower infection and death rates than we do.

We haven’t even had our second wave yet.

Trump has no plan, and is all but announcing it. He’s adopting the herd immunity excuse for doing nothing, but is careful not to use that specific term (for reasons that would be obvious to anyone not a Trumpster).

Oh, it's becoming obvious that the second wave is beginning and nearly everyone knows it.

My wife went shopping today and shelves are beginning to thin out. People are getting ready

second wave is a term used to invoke fear. The "first wave" never ended because the virus remained. THere is no start and stop point. It's the same covid 19 and lockdowns and masking up doesn't work. The virus will run its course

France's African population has been increasing dramatically over the past years, due to the huge levels of migration.

Similar to the situation in the US, these are people who tend not to stringently observe all the "safety protocols" due to their "culture".

Indications that infection rates among African migrants are far higher than they among the rest of the French population

France's population is also very concentrated. 1 out of 5 people lives in the Paris region, since Paris is really the only major big city in the country.

So tell us about the three waves of the Spanish Flu?

Did that virus completely disappear between them

    Hopping? Jesus christ get inside!

Leave the wife in the garage for 3 days minimum.

Why is it that some people just dont care about killing their neighbors, not to mention that its racist. This virus impacts minorities more heavily.

Just no concern for others I guess, shameful.

And here's the thing. Even if all of Europe managed to completely eliminate the virus from within their borders, it wouldn't be that long before the virus was just reintroduced again.

There are huge number of migrants from Africa sneaking into Europe, and very little effort made to stop them.

Supposedly the rationale now is "we are just waiting long enough for a vaccine to be developed", at which point presumably everyone in society will be forced by the government to take the vaccine.

And it will likely be YEARS before a truly effective vaccine is ready.
Think about it, we still don't have a cure for the common cold, and it is very similar to the coronavirus.
And despite decades of research, they have never been able to find a vaccine for the HIV virus.

Their death rate among those infected is already higher than the US's, and they do their contact tracing with an app that nobody will use.

Actually they are about the same. About double that of a month ago.
It's just that France started at about a 5 times lower rate than us.

    Sadly you don't get it

If you keep infection rates low...you can test, trace and isolate.

Unfortunately we are doing virtually none of that

    Think vaccine.
By the way, there is no common cold. There are 160 of them.

Maybe you didn't just read what I had just posted in the previous post.

Great, are we finally going to see a cure for the common cold, and AIDS will be a thing of the past?
Is Covid so much easier to solve than those things?

The Blue states can shut down for as long as they want.

I bet the voters won't be happy though.
