Wait...Trump claims we already have a cure and a vaccine will be ready in just days.

    Was he lying?

Newsflash...the way things are going...Oklahoma and North Dakota may have no choice but to shut down.

    Are they blue states?

The blue states aren't afraid of masks. They will be fine.

Having a vaccine and developing a vaccine that's very effective are not necessarily the same thing.

And who knows, there may be some reason why the coronavirus might be so much easier to find a vaccine for than the common cold. I'm not a scientist.
Maybe we never found a vaccine for the common cold because no one was really trying hard enough.

I gave you the reason we don't have a common cold vaccine. It's because there are 160 different viruses that cause it.
Do you want 160 cold shots?

Let me also point out France doesn't have as resilient of an economy as say, the UK or Germany.

It will be more difficult for them to take prolonged severe restrictions on businesses.

Not strains. Different viruses for the colds.
But so far so good on Covid.

Summary: The virus causing the COVID-19 pandemic, SARS-CoV-2, presents at least six strains. Despite its mutations, the virus shows little variability, and this is good news for the researchers working on a viable vaccine. SARS-CoV-2 mutation rate remains low.Aug 3, 2020

I just looked it up. The most common cause of the common cold is rhinoviruses. There are 3 different species of them, and 160 different recognized types.

Which I would assume means each species might have about 53 different strains.

So what you said is not entirely accurate, although it appears to be somewhat true.

So far they have identified six different strains of covid.

That means, within 7 months it branched off into 6 strains.
It probably also means within another 7 months, there will be 36 strains.

Not true, both claims are wrong. You really aren't familiar with these things. Why not inform yourself before posting.
Since the crisis in 2015, the number of people arriving via the Mediterranean has dropped massively from over one million in 2015 to 58,335 in 2020 so far. And you obviously haven't heard of or aren't familiar with Frontex either.

Everyone will be forced? Another made up claim of yours. Is there any evidence for that?
    I don't think so.

Note that the government's response is to the number of CASES. That is, cases measured by a most unreliable test, a grossly inaccurate test.

The French government emulates the irrational, illegal and harmful policies of other western governments EXCEPT for the calm and rational government of Sweden.

We HAVE vaccines for the flu. They need to be tweeked each year and some years they work better than others but they exist.

    Are you an anti-vaxxer?

Shutdown was supposed to be short term so hospitals were not overwhelmed. Then they became politicized and were meant to destroy our economy.

Seriously, it acts as though the virus is a tide that ebbs and flows. it's not. It's a chemical composition, that exists on certain items, foods(shopping), etc. Essentially, this pathogen exists among a whole bunch of pathogens, and we're not usually worried about 99% of them, we're just worried about this one because of its novel status.

There's nothing anybody can do, it's a pointless exercise and I can't wait for them to finally admit that, probably when Biden wins and then they'll admit it.

    test/trace/isolate ????

sure, if you lock everyone in their house for a year

test negative this morning you could test positive tomorrow. You can't test everyone, every day.

Stop the silly and useless talking points

even your VP candidate has corona among her team and they mask up, social distance etc etc

That's nonsense. Testing tracing and isolation DOES work. It is being used effectively in NY

It CAN'T work if people are running around without masks and are spreading the virus like crazy

Actually that's a good case in point.

Look at the results between the TWO cases in the Harris incident and the THIRTY FIVE cases in the White House

your vp candidate and team are masked up, yet caught/spread covid

you really need to stop the hysterics and accept that the virus cannot be contained. No silly home-made mask is going to help you

It works to slow the spread, not stop it. Plenty of people who wore masks have it. My lawyer has it as we speak. Entire firm had to shut down when an infected staffer who moonlights for an ambulance service brought her other work to work with her and spread it around the building.

It clearly doesn't work when you have migrants workers traveling to different farmhouses around the country, leftist rioters gathering in streets, as well as conservatives protesting at a capital building. Even the WHO has reversed its position on lockdowns, and expressed governments use lockdowns in limited circumstances and short durations. They consider the economic and health affects of the lockdowns to be extremely dangerous, arguing that it will increase violence, nationalism, and division among the populace. The European continent is in chaos right now. There's numerous violent protests, racial and Anti-Semetic attacks, murder sprees, and other dangerous crimes. Jews have been the victim of muslim terrorist and lefty extremists, and there's a huge uptick in child murders. A mother in Germany killed her five children and then tried taking her own life cause of economic hardship. We are seeing the same things in our country. The lockdowns and economic stress has caused more people to violently clash with the police. This is all being portrayed in Europe as a right-wing problem, but this is clearly a lie. It's actually worse than a lie cause it camouflages the real issues that need to be addressed in society by searching for a scapegoat.

The worst part about potential shutdowns that could last an entire cold, dry season is that the trust people have placed in the vaccines may in fact be folly. They have discovered a new, mutated strain that has transferred from Minks to Humans, and the enormous speed at which this happened could make it impossible to accurately neutralize strains that are more contagious than the one vaccinated for.
