I don't support the firing, but if this move is "fascist", then the entertainment industry has always been "fascist". They have never allowed actors to express political opinions that they thought would be too harmful to their bottom line. As to hatred of people with different political opinions, that's at least as popular on the right as left. Heck, you get people here talking proudly about liberal hating.

Fans certainly give them more leeway. I don't know about corporations. There are definitely industries where people can say things about one group that wouldn't be tolerated if they said it about another group. I don't know about Disney. Anytime someone starts talking about Nazis and Jews, I would expect Disney to get antsy.
I have read somewhere that Walt supported Hitler. That’s probably not true, but it does show how propaganda can be effective in shaping history. Tbh, I have not heard of left leaning entertainers being punished for their speech. Even if it was hate speech. Kathy Gifford comes to mind but I think she took it to a level that it could have led to a backlash. However she’s back in vogue again. There are many other entertainers I could cite that have apparently gained popularity because of their hateful speech. This seems to suggest selective outrage and a picture into the mindset of those who wield the power.

I really have no idea who Gino Carano is or what they said. I just see bits in the news about it. I support free speech well beyond what the government can or cannot do. As long as you are not threatening anybody directly or otherwise creating an immediately dangerous situation like the whole yelling fire in a theater thing, I really don't care what you say.
From what I’ve been hearing Disney has been getting a lot of push back from this. Seems a lot of people are dropping their subscriptions to Disney+. Whether it will make a difference, who knows. Disney has deep pockets but the pandemic probably hasn’t help their bottom line.
Who knows in this day and age but conservatives and Disney have been oil and water over the years and undoubtedly will be many more times in the future.

What is the stain on Walt Disney was his support of McCarthyism. Walt named names, and for that is why there is a dark spot in history for him. In general, the only Left-leaning celebrities you hear about that make a splash for their political comments are already fairly high up in the entertainment world, or as they say, they have the juice, meaning fame and power to say what they want. It is for this reason they hire publicity consultants to pull them back in.
