The problem is that Hollywood elites think nothing of insulting or irritating fifty percent of movie watchers with their ideology on parade crap. Thus with each passing year fewer and fewer people end up watching the Academy Awards. Hollywood responds by going more outrageously in-your-face leftist on stage. It's as if logic . . . escapes . . . them.

At least one person watched (or at least trawled the internet for clips and gossip) and decided to write an article about it. And I suspect that if they changed how the ceremony worked to somehow remove the political commentary, she’d have written an article moaning about that instead. There is a certainty irony in someone using their media platform to make political commentary complaining about other people using their media platforms to make political commentary. There is plenty of trash spouted by so-called celebrities but there is just as much trash spouted by so-called news sites too. However misguided, I think the former is at least usually heartfelt and not entirely a means to an commercial end.

I watched about 60% of the Oscars, because for once, I managed to see 3 Best Picture movies this year, probably first time that's happened in 20 years. Ford vs Ferrari, 1917, and OUAT in Hollywood. All were entertaining to various degrees, with Ford vs Ferrari being the best... The show itself was predictably lame, so from that standpoint, it's like watching 4 minutes of any Trump rally. Highlight? 5 stars for parking Margot Robbie in the front row... Steve Martin is still dang funny... If they want a permanent Oscar host, and he wants to do it, just give him the job for life... Lowlight? 2 Best Actor speeches... Joaquin Phoenix is quite possibly insane (not just his movie character).. Also a little sad Kirk Douglas didn't get more applause in the Death segment.... Man was a real hero in Hollywood breaking the blacklist, but most of today's actors don't know about him.
In royal France, among the second zone citizens there were jews, protestants, actors. I haven't seen any of the 3 movies, eventually i'll see FvF and 1917 when they hit dvd. I don't think I've seen a movie related awards show in ages, it doesn't entertain me to be honest. I still occasionally watch the music award shows because they have live performances which sometimes can be quite entertaining, so I'll stick with those but I won't go out of my way, if they happen to be on when i'm channel surfing then I'll stop and watch and then start channel surfing again as soon as I hit a commercial break.
