So women don't talk "so much" and men do...... so when will the sexist crap about women talking so much end?

Women have much higher verbal ability than men and are also more emotionally intelligent. But, women are also more agreeble than men, so even if they are very talkative and outgoing in general, they will stay quiet and listen rather than talk in formal situations such as a business meeting.

Haven't the slightest idea of what you are arguing. Men and women talk primarily about different subjects differently.

This was first pointed out in book called "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" - the WikiPedia article from which this excerpt:

What is necessary but difficult is the manner in which both sexes are accorded their preferences without the social necessity that said preferences should be dictated by either sex.

(Aside: Methinks the current furor in Hollywood surrounding Weinstein is making that point?)

    NB:
*Furthermore, this following excerpt from the article is also worthy of consideration:
*Which further solicits this conclusion. Men are driven first and foremost by target solutions to any "problem". For instance, since time immemorial their prime responsibility was to bring back to the cave sustenance necessary to feed the "family/tribe/whatever". Thus, the emphasis on the male instinct for money and all that it may procure.
*Whilst women are/were more interested in evoking their
angst brought about by exposing deeply-felt frustrations in order to assuage them. Which, it seems to many psychologists, would be more easily acceptable would both sides understand "from where the other-side is coming".
*Which does not automatically "solve any problem derived from differences in emotional preferences, but does help understand why the differences exist" ... ?

What a load of sexist horsepuckey :)

Too bad for men if they're still basing their actions on their cave days....don't they all know we don't live in caves anymore !!???!!

Uhh, they could try progressing.....just a thought...

Why do women talk so much?

Because they have a lot to say?

    Maybe we should listen.

I always thought Men talked way more than
    Women, said less,
Want Women to do a lot more shutting up and moar listening.

This is of course, not right.

It depends upon the subject, boyz-'n-girlz. Not any innate willingness to talk for the sake of talking.

Both men and women do that. The difference being that men can reduce an "exchange of opinion" to fisticuffs. Most women don't, which is a credit to their sex.

Women can discuss politics, and on this site they are damn few compared to men.

But, when they have something to say typically it is far more cogent, pertinent and well-written in English.

It is a great shame that their opinion here is greatly under-numbered comparatively ...

It is important to note that most women have a far more damaging technique than fisticuffs in that they are extremely skilled in a feline form of deadly combat. Rarely do they waste this skill on men as the effort is not worthwhile, if the opponent is another female however blood is often drawn and fingernails become skin traps.

Any public debate regarding the politics of a nation is a worthwhile debate venue in which to participate.

Democracies may be conceived on paper, but they are made and conducted by means of public-debate that fashions voting outcomes.

The larger the public-debate, and the more intelligent* they are, then the more democratic the electoral outcomes ...

*Which is the reason learning about Civics and civic duty is quite-possibly the most important of subjects taught in secondary-school.

Are you suggesting that their inequality status is exaggerated?

I have never seen this...are you perhaps victimizing them?

    ~OR~

Is it just that you have some deep seated issues with females as seems the case with many of your posts.

Men talk about the work that needs done, a large majority of women spend their time whining about men and trying to get special recognition for doing the same job thousands of men do every day, without the needed pat on the back

Everyone needs to focus on their own productive capabilities and stop worrying about everyone else. A horrible weakness of humans. Legitimizing this weakness with a crutch provides nothing of value

Apparently my humor attempt was a failure....a play on the Cat Fight analogy was dismal.

Agreed...it is simply that every woman I actually know is smarter than I am in their own ways (wife is a transplant nurse and mother is a famous psychologist) meaning a focus on my own productive capabilities seems a bit lacking. I also have never heard ANY woman biatching about us men getting a leg up in anything except the occasional equal pay discussion.

Women didn’t have to negotiate.we weren’t usually in those positions My husband had to teach me how. I mentioned somewhere that I do keynote speeches and the first speech they offered me $1000 and I couldn’t believe that someone paid me that. The person who hired me said, “you can’t charge us more but you are grossly undercharging” I had a best-selling book out at the time and that was why. My husband once heard me negotiating with someone and I said my price and then I added, “but I’ll come down if it’s too much”. He taught me to say my fee and then say, I hope that is doable. I learned a hard lesson. And that is the more you charge the better they think you are. To assuage my guilt I would do poor cities and poor communities and peace corps and teach for America free.
