A recent uptick in sightings of unidentified flying objects — or, as the military calls them, “unexplained aerial phenomena” — prompted the U.S. Navy to draft formal procedures for pilots to document encounters, a corrective measure that former officials say is long overdue.
Luis Elizondo, a former senior intelligence officer, told the Post that the new Navy guidelines formalized the reporting process, facilitating data-driven analysis while removing the stigma from talking about UFOs, calling it “the single greatest decision the Navy has made in decades.”

In some cases, pilots — many of whom are engineers and academy graduates — say they observed small spherical objects flying in formation. Others say they’ve seen white, Tic-Tac-shaped vehicles. Aside from drones, all engines rely on burning fuel to generate power, but these vehicles all had no air intake, no wind, and no exhaust.

"It's very mysterious, and they still seem to exceed our aircraft in speed," he said, calling it a "truly radical technology."
"Imagine you see highly advanced vehicles, they appear on radar systems, they look bizarre, no one knows where they're from. This happens on a recurring basis, and no one does anything," said Mellon, who now works with UFODATA, a private organization. Because agencies don't share this type of information, it's difficult to know the full extent of activity. Still, he estimated that dozens of incidents were witnessed by naval officers in a single year, enough to force the service to address the issue.

In 2017, the Pentagon first confirmed the existence of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, a government operation launched in 2007 to collect and analyze “anomalous aerospace threats.” As the Post’s Joby Warrick reported, the investigation ranged from “advanced aircraft fielded by traditional U.S. adversaries to commercial drones to possible alien encounters.”
“If I came to you and said, ‘There are these things that can fly over our country with impunity, defying the laws of physics, and within moments could deploy a nuclear device at will’ — that would be a matter of national security.”
“This type of activity is very alarming,” Elizondo said, “and people are recognizing there are things in our aerospace that lie beyond our understanding.”

It's time to attack the veracity of these highly trained Air Force and Navy pilots. In 3....2....1

One of the ironies of the UFO phenomenon is that it has a reputation among many, for being nothing but crazy claims made by drunk rednecks and stoners. But the truth is that the major players early on and to this day, were high-ranking military and intelligence officials; usually retired. In many cases, their oath of silence expired and they were free to talk about their own knowledge of events. Some of the most impressive cases were made public because people with personal knowledge of real events, knew what specific information to request, under the Freedom of Information Act. That is why we have the official reports about events at Rendlesham Forest 1980, Tehran 1976, Malmstrom AFB, Shag Harbor 1967, and many other now famous cases.

I first took a serious look at this subject for a college English paper. And to say the least, I was shocked and my world was rocked, by what I learned. I continued to study the subject for the next 20 years or so. I read every declassified military UFO report I could access - about 2500 files, IIRC, from the NSA, CIA, FBI [there are real X-files], Air Force, US Army, Department of the Navy, and a number of others. While I'm not a believer per se, it is all but impossible to ignore the most likely conclusion, in my opinion: We are not alone. And we never have been.

For example, this is the official report from the Iran 1976 event. I downloaded this from the NSA directly. You can find it but it takes a bit of effort. And they keep changing the links. But it is public information. But I can say with 100% confidence that this is the official report.

I’ve no interest in attacking the veracity the pilots in reporting what they actually experience. I will attack anyone who wilfully speculates or jumps to conclusions about explanations for these sightings, especially when they have a commercial motive for doing so. I will also attack any reference to “alien spacecraft” presented with zero evidence that such things even exist, let alone that they could be the explanation for any specific given sighting. Unidentified means unidentified.

There wouldn’t be anything like as much fear and secrecy about this if it wasn’t for all the kooks who will leap on any reported sighting and start ranting about alien encounters and government cover-ups. Of course, some of those “kooks” will actually know exactly what they’re doing with that.

The truth is, people react to this subject emotionally. The implications if true are so staggering to consider, that the mind simply rejects the possibility. I struggled with this for years as the idea crept in and out of my head that this must be real. When you seriously consider the implications, when you REALLY thinking about it, it can scare the hell out of you. And maybe it should. I found myself cycling between near belief, and then more of an objective, I just don't know what to think. But it isn't all nonsense. I know that much for sure.

I talked with Col Halt of the Rendlesham Forest incident, on the phone for about an hour one afternoon. Nowadays he says it must have been ET. But when we spoke, he was still open to the idea, something he suggested, of something earthly but still unidentified. He suggested the idea that there is a form of life that we don't recognize as life. But now he seems to be an ET believer. This is what he suggested when I asked him, What is your best guess as to what you saw?

I'm as skeptical as anyone else, but there's some really weird crap going on that these pilots are capturing on video.

Halt made an audio recording of events as they occurred. This is his audio recording.

This is also an extremely well documented and impressive event. Over 1400 anti-aircraft rounds were fired at it over its entire path.

What you see is from the front page of the LA Times, the next morning. You can see shells bursting all around the target in the center of the lights. Circumstances were unusual because the area was on alert. This was due to the recent attack on Pearl Harbor, by the Japanese. This occurred in Feb, two months after the attack on Hawaii.

I have no opinion but it's interesting. This was made long before CGI existed.

It is incredibly unlikely that there is no one out there and also quite unlikely they fly around a planet of violent monkeys at night with their lights on. We simply do not know and that's fine to admit.....I don't worry regardless because there is nothing I can do either way.

If they are here, they have probably always been here. It's the only explanation that really makes sense. And there is no other way to explain so many similar myths from disparate cultures, from all over the world, that sound very much like modern reports of UFO encounters. In fact, in many cases, the people don't believe this is myth. They believe it is history.

One example of this is found in the Hindu texts, "1) the Verdic Verses , written in Sanskrit between 1500 to 900 B.C." 2) the Upanishads , written 800 and 600 B.C." 3) the Laws of Manu , written around 250 B.C." and 4) Ramayana and 5) the Mahabharata , written sometime between 200 B.C. and A.D. 200"

These texts go into great deal about incredible flying machines with fantastically powerful weapons, that were flown by gods.

When I went to Peru, I found that the old people accepted alien visitations as a matter of fact. They have a long history of alleged encounters and believe it without question.

It is the most profound question humans have ever faced. The potential significance of an alien presence is truly beyond the imagination. It is the most interesting question in the history of science.

My aunt was a young mother home alone, with a husband just shipped out for WWII, a newborn, and a toddler. There was an ack-ack gun in her neighbor's backyard. In the middle of the night, the gun started firing. It was such a terrifying experience that when I asked her about it over 50 years later, she still couldn't talk about it.

This predates CGI as well. I have seen a better copy of this and it is striking.

We don't know, but we can continue to pursue and learn about evidence. At this point it would take a lot to change my position: It is more likely than not. They have been here for a very long time. So I find the pursuit of related information fascinating. You have to watch out for the crackpot stuff, but even much of what we see on shows on the History Channel et al, there is often still enough truth in what they say, to make it interesting. But they do sometimes outright lie. So you have to do your own research. It is the greatest mystery in the history of the human race. How can anyone resist?

When I read all of the declassified military and intelligence documents related to UFOs, they went all the way into WWII, I was amazed to realize that I was reading first-hand official accounts from WWII pilots, regarding the so-called foo fighters.

And then there was Nicholas Roerich. He was exploring the Himalayas, IIRC, when he wrote this in his diary.

"We saw, in a direction from north to south, something big and shiny reflecting the sun, like a huge oval moving at great speed. Crossing our camp this thing changed in its direction from south to southwest. And we saw how it disappeared in the intense blue sky. We even had time to take our field glasses and saw quite distinctly an oval form with shiny surface, one side of which was brilliant from the sun."

    Nicholas Roerich, 1927

I contacted the Roerich museum in NY and confirmed the quote. The curator added that his wife also mentions it in her diary. She even speculates that is must be a craft with people from somewhere else - not from this planet.

This is the pilot who had a dog fight with the UFO, in his US made F4, over Tehran, in 1976. Back then, Iran was an extension of US military power in the region. This was before the revolution. That is why US intelligence officers were on the scene.

Here, Gordon Cooper, one of the original 7 astronauts - The Right Stuff - discusses his two UFO encounters. The first was during WWII. The second one occurred when he was in charge of test flights, at Edwards AFB.

This is film of the actual event. The amount of molten iron flying all over the sky rules out any possibility of a balloon or a blimp, or even a plane. Just one of those shells bursting anywhere near a light craft or a inflatable object, would have brought it down. Yet it only moved an average of 1 mph or so.

The Coyne Military Helicopter Incident - 1973, Mansfield, Ohio - is one of the more impressive and well-documented events.
