This is a direct interference in the civil war. All the principles of the UN trampled. Rights of someone who is strong. The world is degrading. Hitler also gave weapons to General Franco in the war against the legitimate government. The German pilots bombed the peaceful city of Spain. Remember the "Guernica" by Pablo Picasso.

I understand your angst about this because it doesn't come with certain intel or any sort of guarantee that we are the good guys.

But, having been a Libya watcher for over 40 years... I can't defend Khadafi.

There is no doubt that it's time for the maniac to go. But seriously do we have to spend billions to get rid of the guy? Why can't we just let nature take it's course in a few years and he dies? His mind is gone and honestly I'm as surprised as anyone that he's managed to hold on to power this long.

Why did we have to rush things along so much? We could've waited him out in this case.

As far as I'm concerned Western Civilization has completely screwed the pooch regarding the Arab Spring, otherwise known as the 2nd coming of Salafi.

Because your western media wants you apple pie eating goofballs to beat the war drums. So they don't tell you anything resembling the truth.

Most of the western ignoramuses don't even know where Libya is, much less about how the people have prospered since Gadaffi took over.

    Thats my guess.

If it was a lottery ticket I'd be rich.

The problem is he'd pass his power onto another luny on his death bed and the cycle continues.

The US had nothing to do with the meltdown in Libya.. Obama would have been utterly thrilled if it hadn't happened on his watch.

You are using Salafi in the wrong context.

Good. I hope Gaddafi wins. It's not that I support him, I just want to see NATO and their One World Government bosses fail. Serves them right.

Khadafi did everything wrong right out of the coup against Idris.

He hired Tariki, killed the budding oil industry and drove the Americans and Brits out of Wheelus and Tobruk..

He was 27 years old and dumb as a post.

He gave water for the people of Libya. He gave free education, medicine, work. Money from oil sales is spent on development.

Sure, like any government. Yet, he also gave them death, torture, crime, censorship and injustice, unlike other governments.

Freedom of expression, association and assembly continued to be severely curtailed and the authorities showed little tolerance of dissent. Critics of the government’s human rights record were punished. Former detainees at Guantánamo Bay returned to Libya by US authorities continued to be detained; one died in custody, apparently as a result of suicide. Foreign nationals suspected of being in the country irregularly, including refugees and asylum-seekers, were detained and ill-treated. An official investigation began into the killing of prisoners at Abu Salim Prison in 1996 but no details were disclosed and some of the victims’ relatives who had campaigned for the truth were arrested. Hundreds of cases of enforced disappearance and other serious human rights violations committed in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s remained unresolved, and the Internal Security Agency (ISA), implicated in those violations, continued to operate with impunity.

Why are you accusing republicans of being "azzholes"?

Gingrich said Obama had been “weak and uncertain” on Libya, and Pawlenty pushed the White House to be more aggressive against Moammar Ghadafi.

Saddam killed 50,000 in the reign of all. Democracy in Iraq has destroyed 1,500,000. In Libya, the Democratic bombs killed 835 people in 3 months. How many people have destroyed the rebels no one counted.

Nobody would have died if certain religious extremists hadn't murdered anyone. Democracy is not to blame for that.

Nobody would have been killed if Gaddafi had allowed free and open elections. Why does Gaddafi fear the voice of the people?

The US government has its faults, but it is obviously doing much better than Libya. You should visit America some day, if you can get a visa. I would visit Libya, but Gaddafi has a bad reputation of holding Swiss civilians as hostages:

    Swiss hostages to leave Libya
    http://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/politics/foreign_affairs/Swiss_hostages_to_leave_Libya.html?cid=72240

    This is the Gaddafi family:

Hannibal Gaddafi was arrested in a Geneva hotel by the Geneva police, along with his heavily pregnant wife Aline, on charges of beating two of their servants. They were later released on bail, and left the country.

That's great, I suppose, if one blames democracy for the criminal doings of certain Islamic extremists in Iraq. Often, the criminal will blame everyone other than themselves.
