Gallup- Support for same-sex marriage hits new high majority-

Nearly eight in 10 young adults favor gay marriage

Americans' support for the law recognizing same-sex marriages as legally valid has increased yet again, now at 55%. Marriage equality advocates have had a string of legal successes over the past year, most recently this week in Pennsylvania and Oregon where federal judges struck down bans on gay marriage.

Two successive Gallup polls in 2012 saw support climb from 53% to 54%, indicating a steady but slight growth in acceptance of gay marriages over the past year after a more rapid increase between 2009 and 2011. In the latest May 8-11 poll, there is further evidence that support for gay marriage has solidified above the majority level.

This comes on the heels of gay marriage proponents' 14th legal victory in a row.

Now of course comes the bemoaning and rendering garments and gnashing of teeth and calls of "America is lost!" and "God will punish us" and then "skewed poll" and then "Who cares?" and "Of course, they've been in'doc'ternated by the Lib'rul Media".

But the wailing and excuses don't matter. Those antipathetic to gay rights are in the MINORITY and that's not going to change...in fact, it is likely to get even worse for them.

And politically....I foresee the Republican Party dropping ALL references to "marriage" from their 2016 Party Platform...straight or gay.....the RNC will see no future in such discussions....or electoral advantage, in fact, they'll see a DISadvantage to mentioning it.

I think you're a bit over-confident. This is not a defining, winning or losing issue for either side. Americans won't soon forget the Democrats booing God at their convention. If you think booing God and championing homosexuality is a winning strategy, have at it. I don't think we're there…yet.

It's amazing the influence one president has from the bully pulpit. Credit Obama for moving the ball down the field. But what happens when he's gone and there's no cult of personality to worship and cling to his every word as if his words are the words of God? You're left with a bunch of Americans who, whether they believe in God or not, still find homosexuality repulsive, yet forced to accept it by peer-pressure and the law.

 

Between the anemic economy and FullRetardCare, the Left and Democrats need all the distractions they can get.

Patently untrue. We've been working for decades to get where we are, and we're not going back.

This is what you guys keep missing- we came out, we made our presence known. We have families and friends. Our families and friends know we're not the monsters your side tries to make us out to be. And you know what? They aren't going to turn their backs on us. Your days of misrepresenting and abusing us are gone, and they are never coming back. Not in this country anyway.

Considering this American was not even aware of it in the first place, I think you're probably very wrong in that assumption.

Do these guys REALLY think those young adults are suddenly going to start hating gays when they hit 35???

 

They must think that. I don't know what else they could be thinking.

 

They've offered that last, desperate hope theory before, when the polling came out that showed 61% of young REPUBLICANS supported marriage equality.

The idea "Oh, just wait until they get in their 30s and 40s...they'll learn to hate gays like we do!"

We've said it before...you can imagine racists saying the same thing in the 1970s about younger people supporting inter-racial marriage. "Oh, just wait until those hippies grow up...by the time they're middle aged in 1980, they'll oppose race-mixing!"

 

And the same will happen with this issue. In 20 years the only people who will care will be standing on a street corner screaming at everybody.

 

Or the blog equivalent. You may not have noticed but there are actually a few die-hard, honest racists on the Internet.

 

"Americans" never cared. Unless they're Fox News watchers, and they wouldn't ever vote for Obama anyway.

If the liberal mind is vacuous enough to equate homosexuality with traditional marriage, surely it is vacuous enough to equate homosexuality with skin color as well. It is of course, what one would expect from such a dissolution of discernment.

The apostle Paul wrote about the liberal mind 2,000 years ago in Romans Chapter 1. "Believing themselves to be wise, they became fools" he said. But what I don't think Paul realized was the extent to which today's liberal left would take to such foolery.

 

Paul never married, did he? Never even had a girlfriend? Funny that?

 

Given that the conservative mind doesn't know the difference between consenting adults and children and animals, you really don't have much room to talk.

 

He was supposedly single. Does that disqualify him in in your view; or do his words disqualify him, in your view?

 

Please enlighten us on this inability of the conservative mind discern such things, as you so claim. They all seem rather easily discernable to me.

 

Conservatives compare homosexuality to pedophilia and bestiality all the time. Seems to me that they can't tell the difference. If you need examples, they're all over this forum.

Or they might just come clean and admit it.

 

It probably seems to them that you can't tell the difference between homosexuality and traditional marriage. And I suspect that they are only using those analogies to point that out to you; that they are all different, and that only one form of union constitutes a natural and traditional "marriage".

 

Polygamy was "traditional"....even in the Bible. How far back do you want to go to establish your "traditions"?
