Could you imagine what his approval rating would be if he had the red carpet like Obama?

    Great Job President Trump!

Well...Red state is an extreme RW blog.

But, regardless, I did read the link (figuring that I would get a few laughs).

One line struck me as a peculiarly disengaged from reality:

    Referring to Trump...

"at this point, it seems that the 2020 election is his to lose".:roflol:

    It is Biden's to lose.

Trump is trailing badly in the polls.

    And, 2020 is NOT 4 Years Ago...:salute:

To be fair Gallup does lean a bit to the right. And they've had their own problems in the past. Just like every other pollster out there. Even the leftwings vaunted 538 has had their own mess ups.

That said, just because they have a slight bias, and they have been wrong in the past, doesn't mean that they are wrong now.

In the end, the only poll that really matters is Election day. As it stands right now I for one will be voting for Trump. Again.

That's what I have been telling our posting leftists; that their control of the media isn't working out for them like they expected because too many people are still capable of thinking for themselves and because the leftist loyal mainstream media is too heavy-handed with its blatant anti-Trump political propaganda.

You are supposed to practice some degree of subtlety in treating political propaganda as an art form rather than be achingly obvious in one's foam-at-the-brain-pan Orange Man Bad blatherings. Your facts and evidence are supposed to be subtlety distorted 'interpretations' based on actual facts and evidence rather than nothing more than emotions laden hysteria based on feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelings. Political propaganda is supposed to be used as a delicately handled scalpel rather than as a slash and hack butcher's knife.

538 is not a polling organization. They don’t perform political polling.

    They don’t.

They are a statistical review site. They use the existing polling organizations. They do NOT do their own.

And by doing so they create their own type of polls. Just because they use other polls does not mean that they do not have their own polls. There are multiple types of polls. Not just your average Call X, ask question, record, add up tally, post results.

That’s not what they do. Sorry but that’s asinine to claim so, and highlights your ignorance in the study of statistics.

Trump's approval rating for his term is below, Gallup.

    https://news.gallup.com/interactives/185273/presidential-job-approval-center.aspx

Currently at 49% per Gallup, Trump's average for his entire presidency is 40%.
Obama's was at 47% 14-20 May 2012, his first term average was 48%
Bush was at 46% 3-9 May 2004 with his first term average of 62%. This high is directly related to 9-11.

Trump's 49% if the highest ever approval rating from Gallup. His lowest is 35%. Obama's highest was 67%, his lowest was 40%. Bush's highest was 90% and lowest 46% for his first term.

RCP averages puts Trump's approval rating at 46.4% which includes Gallup.

    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/president_trump_job_approval-6179.html

I think what is important here is Obama's approval was 53% on election day 2012, Bush's was also at 53% on election day 2004 per Gallup. Both won reelection. RCP averages put Obama at 54.5% on election day and Bush at 52.9%.

I think what is a better indicator is the favorable/unfavorable ratings of the president seeking reelections vs the candidate opposing him.

    2004 Bush 61/39% favorable/unfavorable vs Kerry 57/40
    2012 Obama 62/37 favorable/unfavorable vs Romney 55/43
2020 Trump UNK vs. Biden UNK.

November 2020 is unknown, but we know what they are today, Trump 43/55% favorable/unfavorable vs Biden 43/48%.

It's interesting to note that in 2016 for the first time in our history, both major party candidates had their favorable's under 40% and their unfavorable's over 50%. Trump at 36/60 and Clinton at 38/56. Both hold the record to date for the lowest favorable and highest unfavorable ratings in our history. Here's the list going back to Eisenhower.

Highest to lowest favorable/unfavorable ratings of each major party presidential candidate.

    Favorable/unfavorable

    1956 Eisenhower 84/12%

    1964 LBJ 81/13%

    1976 Carter 81/16%

    1960 JFK 80/14%

    1960 Nixon 79/16%

    1968 Nixon 79/22%

    1976 Ford 79/20%

    1972 Nixon 76/21%

    1968 Humphrey 72/28%

    1984 Reagan 70/30%

    1980 Carter 68/32%

    1984 Mondale 66/34%

    1980 Reagan 64/31%

    1992 Bill Clinton 64/33%

    2008 Obama 62/35%

    2012 Obama 62/37%

    1956 Stevenson 61/31%

    2004 G.W. Bush 61/39%

    2008 McCain 60/35%

    1992 G.H.W. Bush 59/40%

    2000 G.W. Bush 58/38%

    2004 Kerry 57/40%

    1996 Bill Clinton 56/42%

    1988 G.H.W. Bush 56/39%

    2000 Gore 55/45%

    2012 Romney 55/43%

    1972 McGovern 55/41%

    1996 Dole 54/45%

    1988 Dukakis 50/45%

    1964 Goldwater 43/47%

If the MSM was reporting with even a dash of integrity these past 3 yrs, Trump would be consistently over 50% no doubt. The sheer success of the economy and general way of things before Covid, was astounding. And when you consider the utter disdain and hatred DC hs for him, really brings it into perspective.

Just flipping the channels each morning watching the doom and gloom in the reporting, is really depressing. The MSM wants everything to fail. Wants everyone paranoid. I just don’t get the motivation unless they’re being paid by China to undermine the social fabric of the country.

I feel that Galap and Rasmussen are fair pollsters. They do everything you need in to get a balanced, fair and acute poll. You can't trust anything from the MSM anymore.

Trump in my opinion is his own number one enemy. His persona and actions go against what most folks think a president should act like. Trump creates feuds, throws temper tantrums, calls others names like a four year old spoiled brat who's parent forgot to teach him any manners. His bullying, uncouth, egotistical persona is more a fit for a wrestler out of the the WWE instead of the occupant of the Oval Office. Strange that some folks would expect a president to act presidential and not some schoolyard bully.

As for the media, Trump has brought most of this on himself. Had he the persona and personality of a Reagan, he wouldn't have the problem with the media he does today. Reagan let most things, personal attacks just roll off his back. Then he would say a self-depreciating joke which would leave everyone laughing and thinking what a great guy Ronnie was.

Mark my word, if Trump loses in November, it won't be because of what he has done or hasn't done. It'll be because of his obnoxious personality and his very thin skinned ego. His childish behavior instead of presidential behavior. He will have caused his own defeat. One has to remember, for quite a lot of folks, the presidential is a beauty contest determined by who they like or dislike the most.

To achieve better polling accuracy always add at least 5 to 10 points to Trump approval numbers to adjust for polling bias and the well documented polling blind spot. :)

Yet he is still below his approval ratings on election day 2016 — where he “won” by less than 80,000 votes... upload_2020-5-18_11-25-10.png
