Given the news that Ted has suspended is campaign making Trump the defacto winner, I'm starting this now.

I can't stand Hillary and Trump is a train wreck.

Anyone have a better idea if your a right leaning person, and no I'm not moving to Canada!

I completely agree. He is the best candidate on offer by quite a margin.

Cruz fans beware - Johnson is a proper libertarian. No war, no religious preference.

I'd vote for a Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert ticket.

He might siphon off a few votes.

Whether it matters in the Electoral college scheme is the question.

Question is since he has some left leaning positions and right leaning positions could he siphon enough from the Dems and Repubs to make a difference?

Unfortunately, I think Gary Johnson's chances of winning are no greater in 2016 than they were in 2012.

I've voted 3rd party twice now. I did so because I was voting my conscience. They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. So I'm going to vote for Trump, though I'll poll for Johnson, unless the Libertarian party really has a cinderella story in this election. I'd be tickled pink not to vote Trump, but I'm a not Hillary not Sanders voter and as it stands right now the LP just can't get that done and Trump is the only one with a shot at it as of this particular moment.

We shouldn't vote for who we think is going to win. We should vote for the person that we think will do the best job. If all we do is keep voting for who we think is going to win nothing will ever change.

The Libertarian Party as currently constructed is a fringe party. Legalizing crack and privatizing the roads are not ideas that sell well with the vast majority of Americans. A vote for the Libertarian Party is a vote for Clinton which is a vote for overturning Heller. Trump is much more aligned with libertarians than Hillary is, unless you're an illegal libertarian or rely heavily on outsourcing. They're a complete wash on abortion and gay marriage. Trump is for less spending and taxes. He's also less of an interventionist.

I met Gary Johnson once at a drug policy reform conference. I'd never vote for him, but he seemed like a nice guy.

If he seemed like a nice guy why wouldn't you vote for him?

It is needed if we ever want to get out from under the 2 party system that is clearly not working.

He got my vote last election, but I just don't see the point any longer given that media exposure and public awareness of him will never hit critical mass.

Hell, I would have voted for Huntsman last time, but the same thing happened to him. No room in the asshat clown car. Although now that he's saying republicans should bury the hatchet and get behind Trump, I've lost all respect for him.

LOL! Please cite Trump's libertarian policies or positions.

Because I strongly disagree with libertarian economics.

That's true. But I'd rather vote for someone I like as opposed to someone who I can't stand to see.

I don't think that anyone should delude themselves regarding Johnson's electability but, assuming that he wins the Libertarian Party nomination the end of this month, he'll be on the ballot in all 50 states, and, given the personal animus for Clinton and the absurdity of Trump, I would hope that he'd share the stage in presidential debates.

I have no doubt he'd get serious, thought-provoking public attention.

He's clearly not a libertarian, but Trump is much more likely to appoint conservative justices. At a minimum I would expect Heller to be safe. He's for lower taxes than Hillary. He was against the Iraq War early. I think he aligns more with libertarians than Hillary. Is that enough to persuade hardcore libertarians to vote for Trump? Probably not, but they shouldn't complain when Heller is overturned.

I'm opposed to conservative justices, however, like the ones we have now, and think Scalia was a fecal smear-stain on the fabric of our country's judicial history. NONE of them are libertarian in even the most cosmetic sense.

I have no idea what kind of justice Trump might appoint, because he's all over the map and a rather loose canon on almost every topic I can think of. That, and the Washington Post and NYT times interviews with him sealed the deal. The man is a joke and quite stupid when it comes to the things I consider important.

So you would support a left of Obama ticket?

That's what we're going to get anyway, at least they would deliver entertaining SOTU speeches.

Believe it or not, there was a time when presidents worked harder on governing instead of the entertainment industry.

Sharing the ticket with William Weld further legitimates the Libertarian Party ticket.

These two are genuine, consistent, experienced, and eloquent.

The duopoly will join forces to try desperately to keep them away from the debates.
