I have no issue as long as the only flag allowed is the American flag and no other flags are allowed.

It’s symbolic of a world-wide campaign in favour of fair and equal treatment of LGBT people, something that is very relevant in a number of the countries the US has a significant presence in and that would benefit from a strong demonstration of support on behalf of the US government.

Why only LGBT people should be treated equally? Is not that is a special and exclusive treatment?

In some countries gays are killed for being gay as they used to be in the UK. The US flying the flag is saying it does not agree with this and other behaviour which harms people because of their sexuality.

The protest is valid. Not putting it up, assuming it usually is, is the US making the point that it no longer supports LGBT. We already have a thread on a step for the future - the death sentence for gays in the US.

I never said “only” and “treated equally” implies everybody by definition. There are specific issues around the world where LGBT people aren’t treated much less favourably than anyone else though and that’s what this campaign is in response to. There are campaigns at various levels relating to equal treatment of women, disabled people, religious/ethnic groups (individually or in general), etc. and their not implicitly exclusive either.

I can think of a few countries where gays are persecuted - Palestine and Iran.
The countries that you unconditionally support!

um.... not really. Its a hissy thrown by someone who didn't get their way. And think of the optics of this. Elitist uber rich guy buys town to make a political statement no one will ever see. Talk about the overlord approach of the left. The gesture is stupid. Perhaps this guy's time would have been much better spent trying to make Muslims more tolerant and stop throwing gay folks off of roofs and all...

I was answering the question about US embassies flying the rainbow flag. I ignored the bit about the guy buying the town because I agree it was a petty attention grabbing scam and I didn’t want to give him any more.

Personal attacks are against forum rules but just so you know I do not support everything Iran or Palestine do. I do not support Imperialism and colonialism. That is what I have stood against and you presumably approve of. Now do you have anything to say about the thread.

Go and learn something on the subject and come back. This thread is on the United States Government making a point of banning their embassies from supporting LGBT coupled with the reality that Trump has already reported that Pence wants to hang all gays, coupled with the fact that we already have a thread here of calls in the US not only for the Death Penalty for Gays in the US but LGBT. The focus is clear. I am not for impeachment of Trump as that would bring Pence in. Oh of course, you have proudly admitted that you are a Christian Zionist and you haven't said your position on this. Are you one who supports the death penalty for LGBT?

Gays are still routinely executed in Iran. Iran executes more people per capita than any other country in the World. If you are interested, you can read my thread on Gay executions in Iran
in the Middle East section of this forum.

Fair enough. I think dude should be called out as the elitist ****** that he is though. And while I am clearly in the camp that wants gay folks to enjoy equality in their lands, this guy isn't doing anything to help. Nor, I think, does flying rainbow flags at US embassies aid in that goal. What it does, however, it brand the embassies in a way that markets an entirely inappropriate message as a nation. The US is equality for all, not elevation of the few. Liberals so often forget this part...

Great for this guy. I just wonder where he was when the former presidents went all buddy buddy with the saudis and their not so gay policies.

That kind of people seems mainly to do virtue signalling.

US embassies should fly only the US flag. Embassies are supposed to represent the country, not partisan politics. A few wackos in the US may have called for the execution of Gays in the US, but there
is not the remotest chance it will ever happen. The American people are more and more pro LBGT. Gay marriage is now legal throughout the country - hardly a sign that we are the verge of all-out persecution.
Hollywood drives social mores more than any other force in the country and they are very pro-Gay and anti-Christian. Look at American TV - you will see lots of positive portrayals of Gays - but none at all of
conservative Christians (or conservatives in general for that matter). Worrying about Gay persecution in America is 'Tilting at Windmills.' A few nutjobs may individually hurt Gays, but those are very isolated
    incidents.

What if gays flaunted themselves in an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood in Israel, what would the response be?

Anyway if the American embassies were to fly the LGBT flag and insult the religious beliefs and sensibilities of most of the nations they are in, then it's not only gays that will be killed, but all Americans through association.

Israel is the among most gay-tolerant countries in all of Asia. Not just the Middle East, all of the entire continent of Asia.

Palestine and Saudi Arabia are among thee most gay-intolerant countries in the world. Thee entire planet.

We have something like 4.5% of the population driving something like half our social agenda today. It is a determined campaign to legitimize what is considered aberrant sexual behavior. There is and will be backlash.

Gays had the same equality immigrants did in the past, and like the immigrants they accepted the modes and values of the society they were in - or at least outwardly they did. It was a matter of self preservation. So what do the gays mean by equality? Does it mean that if someone wants to run around naked and it's not accepted in society that he's being discriminated against and has to impose it on them?

How about some common sense here.

Asking for the same rights already afforded to heterosexuals is not special and exclusive treatment. Its just sad that they have to march and petition for it.

Is that your standards towards others, whether they are gay tolerant or not? I see the liberal tyranny that's imposed on the American people as being almost as oppressive as Islam. As for my post, I specified Orthodox Jews.
