It shouldn't be flown any more than the 4-H flag should be flown: because it has nothing to do with the government of the nation state of the US.

If I like being naked and can't do so in the streets, does it mean I'm being discriminated against? What's wrong with adapting to societal modes rather than trying to change those modes to please ourselves.

Those marches don't generate a lot of favorable opinion. They mostly confirm that people don't really find that lifestyle attractive.

Thankfully, you don't need to find a lifestyle attractive in order for the people who live that lifestyle to have equal rights.

That isn’t the intended message, certainly not from the embassies or the US government. As I said, there are other campaigns for fair and equal treatment of other groups in different parts of the world and they’re not presented as being about “elevation of the few”.

If you cannot see a different between public nudity and LGBTQ rights, the conversation stops here.

And yet we don't fly their flags do we? And because we don't, the initiatives aren't as publicly equal in the eyes of those who see the rainbow flag then, are they?

Again, this isn't about the US not advocating for the human rights of gays in those countries. It's about prominence. And in this case, making the decision to elevate that one cause above others. That sends a message for sure. I just don't agree it's one that we should make the effort to do.

So...he bought a town called "Hell" and renamed it to "Gay Hell".....talk about stupid. What gay person would want to live in a town called "Gay Hell"? If I was gay and I saw a town with that name I'd want to avoid it like the plague.

It's not just gays, it's all liberals. They are trying to destroy the very same Christianity that has protected them and given them their freedoms. The consequences will not be pleasant. Tyranny tends to turn on itself.

Those other campaigns don’t have specific flags but they have other symbols and events that are proudly supported by US embassies. First random example I found was International Women’s Day in Turkey; https://tr.usembassy.gov/international-womens-day/

I’d also suggest the prominence this is receiving isn’t because of the flags being flown but because of the restrictions and objections being raised. If nothing had changed regarding the government policy on the flags, those embassies which wanted to fly them would have done so but it would have passed by largely unremarked, just as it has all the previous years and just as all the other campaigns and events do. Somewhat ironically, you’re kind of making their point for them.

That is a risk, and it should not be made through US Embassies, but everyone in the democracies should be very critical, at every opportunity, of those countries who treat their citizens unequally. Because these laws exist mainly in Muslim countries our criticism should be directed there and international pressure maintained. These pressures, often by brave (former) Muslim women, are already having some positive effects.

Running around naked is not a right for anyone in the western democracies, outside of designated areas. The urge to discard your clothing and run about naked is not, unlike homosexuality, in your DNA.

Just as an example, in New York state a person accused of a violent crime against an LGBTQ individual can use their own anti-gay or anti-trans bias as a legitimate legal defense.

I'm pretty sure the penalty for murder is the same regardless of your sexuality.

    Is that not equality?

If it were a mere matter of equality, then we'd never hear the term "protected class", now would we?

So you think flying a rainbow flag on top of a US embassy will stop muslims from tossing gay people off rooftops and burning them to death in Africa?
