"Yeah. Let's pack it, let's pack it," she said.

Harris cautioned, "I can't say that here today."

He explained it's not the official position of the party, which is to wait and see how the process goes.

The journalist replied, "So if that means keeping the low key, progressive stance hidden, I am [for it]."

Will Democrats pack the Supreme Court?

Harris responded, "I think privately a lot of people share that feeling, but it's more about trying to prevent the conservatives' vote on the court."

The two Jan. 5 runoff elections for Georgia's U.S. Senate seats will decide the majority in the chamber.

The democrats are trying to hide their plans to pack the Supreme Court. They say nothing or evade answering all questions on the issue. Their intent is clear.

Given the antics of the rushed appointment by Humpty and the Senate of ACB, why on Earth would the Dems not return serve? Gee, if I were over there and I was a Dem, I'd happily say so out loud for y'all to hear. Humpty set the bar low, so let's all jump over that same low bar, ey? Stick that 'they go low, we go high' loser rhetoric right up the blurter!

    :roflol:

NOBODY is going to Pack the Court.

Even if the Senate had a 51-50 Advantage (with Harris), the filibuster won't get nuked b/c people like Joe Manchin, etc. wouldn't go along.

    Tl;Dr--NOBODY will "Pack the Court".

    Pack the Court?:roflol:

The GOP is simply legally and within the constitution filling existing vacancies within the framework of the existing courts. What democrats are proposing is to add extra seats to courts where there are no vacancies.

Is it legal and constitutional to add extra seats to the SCOTUS. By your own remarks because it is legal they should be allowed to do so? Yes?

You should even be cheering them if you wanted to appear impartial.

Congress simply introduces a bill to change the number.

They are the ones in charge of it and they've done it a few times before but never for political reasons.

It is worth noting that when FDR tried it, simply to get his New Deal through that is was thoroughly rebuked by both democrats and republicans. The optics for stacking the Court are extremely bad and would definitely cost democrats the congress and probably the presidency.

There is also the risk, as Trump has found out, that even if you get your picks on the Court they may not side with you.

I think the odds are very slim that they would try to change it.

Which would also be legal and within the constitution.

Filling existing vacancies that occur in the present courts is not in any way a definition of packing. That is routine and constitutional. Packing the court would be expanding the size of it to gain partisan advantage immediately rather than wait for the next openings to occur and then fill their seats.

Why? Is it ordained that liberal democrats must always have the Court majority and only when they lose it due to the make up of the Presidency and the Senate, do we add extra seats when Dems control both the President and senate? So, if in 2024 the GOP gets them both back they simply add two more seats to take the majority back?

Packing the Supreme Court would stupid and impossible since the Dems won't control the senate. They have a possibility of grabbing one of the two seats from Georgia (i.e. Ossof), but the Reverend will lose his election badly. If they did win, and have unified control, they should still not pack the Court, they should admit PR and DC as the 51st and 52nd states. That would make a difference.

Yeah or you could just take responsibility for Harry Reid’s actions and stop escalating before you torpedo the entire judicial system.

You are arguing the legality and constitutionality of how the Republicans are behaving against norms, traditions and the will of the people.

I asked you a question if what you are upset the Democrats are discussing is likewise legal and constitutional. Your deflection answers it though.

No technically speaking packing is not that. Of course not. But from a practical aspect Trump did"pack" the court as a payoff to a segment of a market he went after - the "religious" conservative. Trump not being conservative and not at all religious but an excellent con man appeared as that to the gullible. I give him credit he is a great con man.

So democrats "techically" will expand the courts, and then, using your logic, will "pac the courts" with their activist party hacks. Yup. That's the plan.

Fortunately for the people who run and profit from the right wing noise machine, the average Trumpster or talk radio rightie does not understand enough about how their government works to understand that rather obvious fact.

So scaring them with the idea that court will be packed still pushed all their buttons.

And what better way to push the right wing button than to have a fake reporter ask obviously leading questions of a staffer so they could twist it out of context and feed it to a right wing trash blog like WingNutDaily. (although by now, a half dozen trash blogs and right wing talk radio shows are undoubtedly parroting it.).

No that is not what I said. There are activists in both parties. If someone does not like a decision that a judge or a group of judges decide that person accuses that judge or group of judges as being activists. People in the south decided that the court that rules for civil rights were activists . Anti gun freaks may very well believe that those judges who uphold the 2nd amendment are activists.
As the Bible has not in so many words but it says depending on whose ox is being gored.
