Underheadline: Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan points to Charlie Daniels’ song “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” ahead of Trump’s rally in the state this weekend.

Georgia Republican Official Compares Trump To Satan, Says He's Out to Steal The Party's Soul | HuffPost

    Also, Duncan's op-ed on CNN:

Opinion: If my fellow Republicans want to win, they won't buy Trump's stolen election fantasy - CNN

    From the HuffPo article:

I will remind that Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan is a lifelong Republican and a staunch Conservative at that.

Not all is well within the Republican Party.

Feel free to discuss. There's more at his CNN OP-ED, by the way.

And looking at this from the strategema viewpoint, Geoff Duncan knows full well that Trump is going to trash him when he holds his little rally in Georgia today, but Duncan is not afraid of Trump, which is likely to make Trump even nastier. Duncan's timing of the OP, literally placed on CNN in the middle of the night going into today, is intended to provoke Trump. Now, spewing endless lies and trashing the political upper-ups from Georgia may be good for Trump's red-meat consuming "base", but as @perotista has so thoroughly pointed out over and over and over again, the crap that Trump serves up in order to stroke his own ego ends up being a poison-pill for Independents.

Trump is not getting that by trolling in Georgia, he is moving the state closer to purple-blue than to red.

But then again, there are a lot of things that Trump doesn't get, so this is not exactly big news or anything.

They’re probably kicking themselves for not doing their duty and letting trump skate in his impeachment trial. They would be much better off now.

It's not possible to be a Trumper and a politician, much less a conservative. I agree with Sasse and most Nebraskans.

Numbers wise, you're correct. Georgia didn't become a red state until 2002 when we elected our first ever republican governor and republican state legislature. We never had a republican governor nor our state legislature controlled by Republicans until then. Although Bill Clinton was the last Democratic candidate for president we voted for until Biden last year. It's true, I'd say Georgia is a purple state today moving blue.

We gave G.W. Bush 12 and 15 points wins, then McCain 5, Romney 7 and Trump 5 points wins before Biden. Governor races reflected the same, Perdue winning by double digits 2002,2006, Deal by 9 and 8 before Kemp beat Abrams by 2 points. Senate wise, 2 Dems in a runoff last January.

Trump lost Georgia because of independents voting for Biden 52-44 if I remember right, Trump lost the 2020 election because of independents going for Biden 54-41. Independents never liked Trump. Not even in 2016. Trump had a 57% unfavorable among independents in 2016, lucky for him they disliked Hillary Clinton even more. 2016 was an election where it seemed both major parties dug as far down into the barrel to come up with the two most disliked and unwanted to become the next president as possible.

2018 60% of independents viewed Trump unfavorably, they voted 54-42 for Democratic congressional candidates, in 2020 61% of independents viewed trump unfavorably, they voted for Biden 54-41. By the way, even in 2016 when independents voted for Trump 46-42 with 12% voting third party against both major party candidates, 54% of independents still voted against Trump. Hillary's 42% plus the 12% who voted against both. Funny how that 54% keeps popping up.

I mean it's not like trump armed our worst enemy with billions of our latest military equipment...inflated our economy to high hell or turned the southern border into one of the world's largest humanitarian crisis by his rhetoric. Nor did he diddle little children infront of everyone while we just blindly ignore it

Not sure what he did that was so terrible to warrant such hysteria.

I've always classified myself as a Goldwater conservative with some of Ross Perot thrown in. More or less a traditional conservative which have a lot in common with classic liberalism. Individual freedom, liberty and rights. Trump in my opinion is the true RINO. The 7 time party switchers never had a political ideology or philosophy, always adopting the philosophy of the party he belonged to at the time. I see no conservatism in Trump, just an opportunist who took advantage when the time came. Strange thing about Trump was that during Reagan, he was a Democrat, during Bill Clinton, a Republican, G.W. Bush, Trump was a Democrat again, come Obama, he's back to being a Republican. Perhaps he always had thoughts of running for and becoming president as he almost always was a member of the party out of power.

Trump also spent a year as a member of my tiny reform party in 2000 running for the Reform Party nomination. Just enough there to make someone say, Hmm. Trump isn't even close to being a traditional conservative. I wouldn't say he's a neo or a religious or a social etc. conservative either. Just an opportunist that saw his chance and took it.

Why do you ask such a question??

Trump is in the news because he is deliberately injecting himself into the news.

I have no nightmares about Trump now that he no longer possesses the nuclear codes, thank you.

If he ever did.... I'm sure even he wondered at times if the nuclear code was really 867-5309...

Ok, that's a well justified question, I think.

During times of great, great, GREAT national duress I believe that both political parties indeed possessed a soul, the most vivid instance being WWII.

First, I am not your "fella". And as for his tendency to get hissy fits and do unpredictable things, coupled with the fact that as President-Elect as he was being instructed about said codes, I point blank asked why no one has used them yet, there is your answer, right there.
