You're going to find in the future that engineering isn't going to provide you with the critical advantage.

Your export business depends in large part on operating inside the protected EU market. Lose that and you would be exposed to much more competition.

This is the type of thinking that I use in support of no deal Brexit - Germany stands to lose the second largest economy in Europe as a trading partner. While the U.K. can buy stuff elsewhere, albeit at higher prices, germans will literally lose revenues that will results in widespread layoffs. I really think that Merkel will Be at Johnson’s doors literally within a week after hard Brexit.

Your regulators knew how the FAA was certifying aircraft. Why did they trust them? They knew about MCAS.
The FAA will make an issue out of something with an Airbus jet.

The 737 Max doesn't have a CG issue. What it does have is two large engine nacelles that provide additional lift when the nose up attitude exceeds it's limitations. Every aircraft design has limitations. Boeing should have been more forthcoming on this and instead of installing MCAS pilots should have been taught how to takeoff manually and beware of the nose up attitude limitation.

Actually US is their #1 customer, and China is #3.

As for EU, the main idea was to create a large home market for the member nations.

Up to a point, but they've already been quite tolerant of UK political dysfunction.

A customs union would go a long way to keeping investment for EU markets, but I don't think the Conservative government will go for it. Crashing out of the EU and negotiating a Canada+ free trade agreement will bring hard times to the UK.

Yep. Now both Boeing and the FAA have a serious credibility problem.

I doubt that. It seems to me the EU and U.K. are playing the game of who blinks first.
UK people don’t want customs union - they just want free trade. They can reasonably expect visa-free regime as well. There is no reason for EU not to have an agreement with U.K. similar to that it has with Ukraine or Canada where goods move freely and people can cross the border without the need for a visa. And I think this is what will be penned within a week of hard Brexit - UK will not have its supply chains ruined and germans will continue to sell their BMWs to the Brits. :)

We depend on it too. Is there something wrong about selling your products to your neighboring countries? European countries aren't going anywhere, and they will continue to trade with each other.

Having said that the US is still their #1 customer.

A free trade will see the UK sacrifice a lot of investment it would have had with customs union. Getting out of the EU is a huge mistake.

We are going to have to agree to disagree.
Time will tell. I think by the end of this year we will be able to tell whether it was a mistake or not.

When you compare the sum total going to the EU versus the U.S. and China...

Boris may sacrifice the country if he crashes out without a vote in parliament.

Boeing built great planes, for example, the B17 Flying Fortress that bombed Natzee Germany to ashes. :D

What is your point? Of course they trade with other European countries. They always have, and they always will. It is not going to change.

Of course not. My point was that Germany's prosperity is based on its EU membership. The UK is similarly involved.

We'll see how much trade the UK loses if it crashes out of the EU or has a Canada+ free trade agreement when the dust settles.

Do you think Trump won't take advantage of the UK's vulnerability?

Germany was prosperous before EU, and would be without it. Swizerland is not in EU, but is doing just fine. UKs future depends on the deal they make with EU.

I don't see Boeing aircraft as being "trash"
For that you would have to Google Russian civil aviation and Aeroflot.
The ill-fated 737 Max has a software issue.

It's about the UK trading with the EU after Brexit.

Our export business is mostly to China, USA. Both are not in EU. In most fields we have no competition.
