they just dont get it:no: i guess or they really like whats globalist leaders are doing to Europe like Merkel is doing taking it to a 3rd world trash heap, so this is what the result is in Germany when you get enough of 3rd worlders to become voters, you run the the table on a vote like this

32.5% for Merkel, but an unexpected 13.5% for the anti-immigration AFD (Alternative For Germany). So a few Germans are waking up.

In the UK, the BBC is in meltdown.

Why is the BBC in a melt down?

I'm sure the Islamic extremists are thrilled. The downfall of the EU continues.

At least the news will have great stories to come now

Only someone who is not familiar with the political landscape in Germany, and that's true for most people on this forum, can be surprised by the fact that Merkel will remain the head of government for the next four years; it's not clear who the junior partner might be though.
Merkel's reelection also doesn't mean that millions of refugees are waiting at the borders and are about to enter. It really seems almost nobody, except some German users here, is familiar with the numbers of 2017 or the second half of 2016. Mass immigration of late 2015/early 2016 was a temporary event, it's not an ongoing process. This doesn't mean that it won't be a topic in the future, it'll be one of the most important ones for sure.
These simplifications made by most users can only lead to highly incorrect conclusions.
Of course, most of our yank friends will continue their armageddon narrative the way they did with the French election a few weeks ago.

So true. You can't imagine how many times I had to tell people that Merkel is from the CONSERVATIVE party. Yet, they keep coming back thinking that Merkel is some sort of flaming socialist. Well, compared to the American hard right, she maybe is.

In any case, the big thing from the election is that the AfD made big gains. It seems that nationalism and hate of foreigners is making a big comeback in Germany. It may have been always been there in a latent way, but now the same people feel emboldened to openly show their far right position. Interesting times...

In reality, there is no such thing as a 'global' economy, but a 'shared' economy. And in that shared economy, to quote Obama "there are those getting ahead, at the expense of others." Such a situation, could not last. If the modern economy is worse than the economy before it, it only makes logical sense to return to economic policies that did not break the back of nations.

So expect these responses to continue, so long as mainstream politicians in their countries continue to sell a poor bag of goods to their peoples.

We can't take this seriously. Vast majority of our yank friends are simply utterly clueless when it comes to other countries' domestic affairs.
Most of them understand close to nothing, which, of course, doesn't prevent them from having all the answers.

It was pretty clear that Merkel would remain head of government. It was pretty clear that the FDP would enter the Bundestag again, and it was pretty clear that the AFD would enter for the first time. Most polls predicted something around 10-11% and more and that's the way it happened.

    Uh... why?

They had free elections, and that is something to be ashamed about?
At least they did not vote in some nationalist like Trump.

Are Germans so ashamed of their history of religious genocide they're allowing Merkel to overcompensate and destroy their country?

Sigh. I live in Germany. Merkel is not destroying the country, Germans are not destroying the country, but I won't explain that to you. You keep following your narrative.

Sorry, have heard this literally hundreds of times on this forum, can't take it seriously, and I, unlike you (I strongly assume), have first hand experience. What the world or in this case Germany looks like in one and a half or two centuries, you don't know, I don't know.

Having been on this forum for quite a while and having been to the states several times, I'd have to agree with you here, unfortunately.
Cartoonish seems a fitting word here indeed.

That may be true, but the same holds for the world view of the people of other nations as well. The average German gets most of their views about the US from movies and the mainstream media. Even if they have traveled to the US, they know the tourist centers, but they have little idea about how regular Americans feel.

I know, because I have grown up in Germany until I was 28 and have since lived in the US. I know the good and the ugly of both nations and, believe me, both have good and bad.
