    The country has triggered the "alarm" stage of an emergency gas plan to deal with shortages, Germany's economy ministry said.

    It is the latest part of a standoff between the European Union and Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.

    German economy minister Robert Habeck said Russia was using gas "as a weapon" in response to EU sanctions. .     . .


    Never occurring to Germany that gas purchase from Russia could be a threat to German security and economy.

    sure, the right want not just high prices here, but a shortage as well

    and of course if we did what Republicans want, they would blame the results on Biden

    ~ Ah yes ... good old Germany with over-engineered automobiles and nuclear power plants sitting idle. Soon only China will remain open while the rest of the world "goes green" and starves to death .
    They should just consult the Green Genius of Capitola Hill — Ms. AOC for advice and direction.

    I apologize then. It seems I misunderstood what you were saying.

    I didn't consider the context within which you made that reply.

    But what Steve meant is that the US could expand domestic natural gas production and would have plenty to export to Germany.

    US oil does not want to drill anymore for fear the price of gas will fall again like it did under Trump

    I am sorry, let me dumb it down a little

    under Trump, oil prices went to negative numbers, now American oil is afraid to produce more oil as they fear another price drop

    Yet in every other time in history this hasn’t happened. Oil companies gauging the world?? The Saudis and Russia in the past have purposely pumped less oil to screw with supply but now it’s ALL oil companies screwing over the world eh? Demand isn’t any higher now than before.

    Putin is responding to EU, including Germany, sanctions.
    Fair is fair. Example.
    From 16 April 2022 EU sanctions prohibit vessels registered under the flag of Russia from accessing EU ports. This also applies to vessels that have re-registered from the flag of Russia to the flag of another state after 24 February 2022.

    The West can longer make economic war with impunity.
