messages everytime I sign in. Is this just a problem from my computer or is it something that happens here sometimes?

I am not computer savvy so forgive me if I sound ignorant. I am:mrgreen:

There has been a lot of discussion about the site being slow again and having a hard time loading. I haven't had internet until recently and I haven't had this message when I am exploring. I was down for a short while. Help!!!

Poor dear! If I had to guess, I'd say you're getting the same thing most of us have experienced. Except I haven't personally had trouble with anything except Database Errors.

So the answer from this non-geek is... I don't have a clue!

(But it's good to hear you're connected, anyway!!!! We've missed ya!)

Thanks lady. :date: I missed you too and many others. Well, at least I feel welcome...haha! I will have to wait for a geek I guess. It just happened after I started this thread. I am with CenturyLink and the main box is in the other room. Maybe this will help me get an answer on how to fix the problem if it's my own.

I use Mozilla. Much better browser than Explorer, and will go to the PF error page if the site is down.

Explorer will just give you an Explorer error, in my experience.

Thanks guys. I went down again. I disabled my Norton anti virus and I was able to reboot my computer and get back on. Would the anti virus program do this?? Makes no sense to me.

So, TFM, do I download that program and just leave internet explorer on here? I don't have to use it, right?

Okay, this is how dumb I am. I did not know that you could get rid of internet explorer. Yep, I am humbled kind sir...knight of the forum.

So any other site like Netscape or Mozilla is better? I guess I will change it but the Norton thing still bothers me. Maybe it was a coincidence. I dunno.

Netscape was just a joke. ;) Netscape as a web browser doesn't exist anymore. Chrome is the best, IMO. Runs really quick and doesn't take up a lot of space.

Not to take away from the computer egg-heads on the forum... but the friggin site should be able to run on IE since EVERYTHING ELSE ON THE INTERNET does.

Next we'll be hearing, "Well, I found if you stand one foot and pat your head, you won't get so many database errors."

Interesting the same people who defend Barack think it's JF's fault the site won't load. Message there. ;)

Explorer is like herpes. You never really get rid of it.

However, it is east to change your default browser to something else.

:omg: Well I just downloaded mozilla and now I am totally confused. It will take a moment and if I don't like it, I will try "Chrome". Just don't want to disable Norton cause I don't want no chirpies on my computer!!!! Thx, TFM.:)

Change to Firefox. I had problems with Internet Explorer and my dad advised me to change, so I did. Haven't had a problem since.

Some of us use employer-provided PCs and changing browsers isn't an option.

Just so you know this solution doesn't apply to everyone.

Yeah, well... he's meeting with Joe Biden today, so serves him right. If he showed a little more concern for his customers, maybe he'd be meeting with us good folks instead of ole slow Joe! ;)

Did you uninstall IE yet? Took me a while, but its possible.
Got both Chrome and FF installed now, and each is great except for certain applications, its why I find it necessary to go back and forth between them.
    Good luck.
Norton is great, but while strict, it lets some bugs through. AVG runs alongside, won't let you open anything you shouldn't. Try it.

To the OP....... I agree with what Makedde has posted. I use Fire Fox almost exclusively, although I do have IE also, which is sometimes necessary.

Your Symantec (Norton) anti virus, should not be the cause of the issue you described.

No offense to anyone here, but the site is frustrating as hell. Likely, that is your issue OP, not your browser.

    Best of luck :)
