It was my assumption that law was changed during the G W Bush administration but IF not and due process applies to everyone even terrorists, then they need to do that ASAP.

That said no one wants to inflict pain or torture on others but in cases of war, it's absolutely necessary to save lives and beyond that, it can also be a deterrent against future attacks as well. The hard truth is, simply playing nice in today's world will not work and it will cause the fall of this country. It's what leaders of other nations do or they threaten the lives of family members which is even nastier. So take your pick.[/QUOTE]

I'm curious...since so many of you want to nix torture as a means for extracting information to save the lives of many, what would you use to get that information? Can't wait for that response.

There seems to be a pattern here. Recall the guy on CNN who was drunk and bloviated that he would not honor a subpoena ?? None of the lefty media questioned that ?? And of course the extreme case of the unvetted Trump dossier paid for by the DNC used to obtain a FISA warrant.

"We" didn't commit genocide, at least I didn't and I don't know anyone personally who did. I can't speak for you though. I was talking about the US government and I certainly have zero to do with those criminals.

Appears? If you don't look you can't see. Then again if you can somehow justify the murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians and otherwise destruction of hundreds of thousands more innocent lives and ongoing you'll never see.

That would be most of the last 3 administrations and I'm certainly not excluding several others before them.

The Supreme Law of the Land is the Constitution and it can't be changed by any law. It can only be changed by an Amendment. Any "law" that violates the Constitution is null and void from inception. That said, when there are criminals running the US government, the Constitution is worthless.

If your premise had any basis in truth you might have a point. Unfortunately you've been sucked into some major propaganda excrement. Even the Senate Intelligence Committee disagrees with you. The one whose report I suggested you read.

    https://www.feinstein.senate.gov/pu...dy-on-cia-detention-and-interrogation-program

    Here's an article summary:

"Report says that CIA detainees subjected to ‘enhanced interrogation techniques’ produced either faulty intelligence or no intelligence at all"

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2014/dec/09/senate-committee-cia-torture-does-not-work

IMO faulty intelligence is even more dangerous than no intelligence.

That's quite misleading. The entire story has not been retracted. John Kiriakou was a CIA operative at the time and I would expect he knows what he's talking about since he was jailed for blowing the whistle on the CIA's torture program. Oh I know, the charges were not for that but that's just the BS propaganda they're shoveling for the gullible.

More misleading trash. Torture is not and never was a legitimate "interrogation technique".

So now you're saying the source (who has officially retracted their statement) is lying/doesn't count now because it doesn't fit your needed narrative?

No I'm saying you're lying by misleading because it doesn't fit YOUR narrative. The proof that you're lying is in the article you provided the link to.

Haspel was in charge of the black site when another detainee, Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, was waterboarded three times, ProPublica says, and it also stands by its reporting that she "pushed her bosses to destroy the tapes of Zubaydah's waterboarding," which they did.

    You specifically said:

You didn't say "PART of the story" which would have been accurate.

Rand Paul will apparently vote against them on this basis.

They not only ran the torture program (which was legal and authorized by the President) but destroyed records on it which almost certainly was not. I am not sure you want someone as head of the CIA who deliberately destroys documents this way.

It usually does not apply to foreign nationals.

Diane Feinstein? LOL What could go wrong there? You mean one of the queen's of the fake news squad, and you call me sucked in? I mean why at this point knowing all the corruption the left has been involved in, would anyone listen to any of those liars? And if that quote came from John Brennan himself out of the Obama administration, might as well trash it for sure. That guy is being investigated right now and will probably be facing charges himself soon if they ever get around to appointing a 2nd special council.

Who you going to quote next..crumby Nancy Pelosi, Ducky Chucky Schumer, or Adam "Shifty" Schiff?

At any rate instead of mouthy accusal's, what pray tell do you think the U.S. should do to get intel about incoming attacks? Please hurry ...I can't wait.

There you go again, misleading to defend your barbaric mentality. If you read the actual paper, which I'm sure you did not, it was the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence that conducted the investigation and co-authored the paper, it isn't comprised of one person.

For you? I don't need to quote anyone, it's obvious you'll try to mislead (LIE about) anything I or anyone else posts to defend your mentality. That's been the case with every post I read from you so far. That is intellectual dishonesty to be kind.

How do you perform heart surgery? What, you don't know? Why would you ask an anonymous poster such a silly question? Intelligence is conducted by appropriate experts who generally train for years, just like anything else that requires expertise. I readily admit I haven't taken one single course in that discipline. Did you? If not you have no clue and you know zero about what you're posting about (as already clearly noted).

Torture is conducted by barbarians with an agenda. Those who support/defend torture are of equal mentality. Proper and valid interrogation techniques also requires appropriate expertise.

The US government wants you to believe that. There is nothing in the Bill of Rights that says it doesn't apply to anyone within the jurisdiction of the US government. However, you are correct, the US government does not apply it to foreign nationals as it sees fit. Then again, it doesn't apply it to anyone most of the time either.

I am fairly sure this has been the position of the US Supreme Court.

Oh how the left loves people like you that are so easily duped.

First of all Democrats don't do much of anything with GOP members. When they do investigations, they stack the deck with progressive leftists who are corrupt as hell such as Mueller and the team he put together which were all democrats that donated to Hillary's campaign. Then they LIED to get FISA warrants from judges that were in bed with them as well all paid for by the Clinton's. This investigation is still going on and not once has Mueller pulled anyone from the left in such as Hillary regarding her email debacle and uranium one for two examples. I mean there is a list a mile long of nefarious criminality on the left to investigate but Mueller and them don't care about that of course. So knowing all this and how the left works, I and others are supposed to believe Feinstein or any of the left would handle things in a legit manner? If you answer yes to that, we're done here because it will be obvious you're clueless, closed minded, completely delusional, and beyond help.

    https://www.dailywire.com/news/27442/report-how-many-lawyers-muellers-team-are-james-barrett

"An examination of the voter registration records of the 16 publicly confirmed lawyers on Mueller's team found that 13 of them are registered Democrats. Not a single one is a registered Republican. Three have no party affiliation.

TheDC notes that one of the currently unaffiliated attorneys, Zainab Ahmad, was once registered as a Republican, but that was back at age 18. As for the political affiliation of the still unidentified 17th attorney on the team, who knows, but the percentages aren't stacked in the GOP's favor.

While previous reports revealed that 9 of the known 16 had donated over $60,000 to Democrats, TheDC's study found that in fact 11 have made donations, some of which were not in FEC records."

Oh and before you say Mueller is a republican, he's as republican as John McCain meaning NEITHER are conservative and only align themselves with that party to help liberals. For some time it's been obvious some democrats have been running on republican tickets so they can vote in favor of democrats.

If Mueller was legit, he would have never taken the case due to being great buddies with James Comey and Rod Rosenstein who are both dirty as hell and currently under investigation by the IG.

It is likely the position of the US government in general. I haven't researched any specific cases on the issue but neither the Supreme Court nor the US government in general is the Constitution and the Bill of Rights does not restrict any protected rights strictly to Americans.

I see many of you getting upset about terrorists being water boarded.

Remember these are the same animals that ran planes into the trade towers and murdered 5,000 of our men, women, and children. They murdered Boston Marathon runners and maimed dozens for life. Fifty were killed in Pulse nightclub as well as many other incidents have happened as well. They as we speak are no doubt planning their next terrorist attack to kill as many Americans as possible.

They're barbarians who have gang raped female reporters doing stories in the Middle East. They rape children at will and think it's their right to do so. These rotten thugs have and will continue to murder children or anyone else in a heartbeat all in the name of their satanic religion. So stop with the bleeding heart nonsense. We're at war, and if we need to put them through hell to extract Intel that may save lives, then so be it. They lost their rights to be treated fairly by committing all the heinous acts that we see play out on the news everyday.

There's a lot of worthless hot air (i.e. distraction) in your post that doesn't even address the issue of torture. So I won't dignify it by quoting any of it except the below, only as a reference to your post.

I am not interested in the mythical left, right, in between or the fake Republican and Democratic parties. If anyone is "duped", you are certainly the poster boy (girl?). None of that has anything to do with the subject of torture. Torture is condemned by virtually all human rights advocates, as well as the Constitution, all international treaties that mention human rights, the US Army (see link below) and just about all experts on the subject. To be honest, when I first heard that the Senate Intelligence Committee was going to research the CIA's torture program, I was 100% sure it would be a whitewash and a defense of that barbaric program. I was pleasantly surprised at the contents and shocked that Feinstein (of all people) railed about it to the extent that she did. What I do condemn about it is that a majority of the findings are still classified and more importantly, that no one in the CIA (or the White House) has been prosecuted for such heinous crimes against humanity. And the only guy that was was John Kiriakou, the whistle blower. How on earth does the Senate Committee release such a report and not one person is prosecuted is an abomination and IMO, complicity to war crimes.

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/us-army-bans-torture-of-prisoners/

Ok, I'm done, please go back to your ignorant rant about how you love torture. I'm not here to educate you or convince you about anything. I'm only posting the FACTS to educated those who are interested and to contradict your blatant lies.
