And now for something completely different!! I thought I would propose a sermon contest. All would be invited, even atheists. We should have three judges to pick and choose which sermon they liked the best. The topics will be determined beforehand to preach about. Now who is interested?
be responsible for your actions and live longer. learn about light (the life of all that exists) if you require a comprehensive understanding of what you are. Do not lie to the children and give them the chance you and I did not have; a shot at the truth on the first pass. best advice: To know bliss, appreciate every moment. rules of every action: good: support life to continue bad: loss to the common
Perhaps you can help us come up with some. We could use different catagories to assess each sermon. Catagories could be overall content, emotional appeal, logical deduction, and spiritual application. We could use a 0 through 3 rating for each and add them up to see who the winner would be.
the title says..... give us a sermon........... i dont sermon................. i tell the truth. yu can have the soap box as not you know what is real i call it 'stupid easy' in which anyone can comprehend reality and know it
Black then white are all I see in my infancy. Red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me, lets me see. As below so above and beyond I imagine, drawn beyond the lines of reason. Push the envelope. Watch it bend. Over thinking, over analyzing, separates the body from the mind. Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must feed my will to feel my moment drawing way outside the lines. Black then white are all I see in my infancy. Red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me, lets me see. There is so much more and it beckons me to look though to these, infinite possibilities. As below so above and beyond I imagine, drawn outside the lines of reason. Push the envelope. Watch it bend. Over thinking, over analyzing, separates the body from the mind. Withering my intuition, leaving opportunities behind. Feed my will to feel this moment, urging me to cross the line. Reaching out to embrace the random. Reaching out to embrace whatever may come. I embrace my desire to... I embrace my desire to... feel the rhythm, to feel connected enough to step aside and weep like a widow, to feel inspired, to fathom the power, to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain, to swing on the spiral, to swing on the spiral, to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human. With my feet upon the ground, I lose myself between the sounds and open wide to suck it in. I feel it move across my skin. I'm reaching up and reaching out. I'm reaching for the random or whatever will bewilder me, whatever will bewilder me. And following our will and wind, we may just go where no one's been. We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been. Spiral out. Keep going. Spiral out. Keep going. Spiral out. Keep going. Spiral out. Keep going. -Lateralus
Sermons usually/should only have one topic (people are so easily lost if too much info is tossed at em), and are no different than any other speech. Tell them what you are going to tell them. Tell them, explain the source, and relate it to something the audience might understand or be moved by. Tell them what you told them and ad a moral to the story so it can resonate. Keep it simple so they can share with others.. There you go a sermon. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you is always a good one, that people refuse to understand, for the most part.
I will open my sermon with a ProvHerb "The true believers, the midgits/midgets, the pirates, and the pastafarians, gathered in the shadow of the mountain, and nearby were some trees. They looked upon one another in the vast multitudes gathered there, and finally one spoke for she was wise among them, "there are many of us here". ProvHerbs 1:1-3 Just as was nearby trees, there are many of us here today....
too wishy washy and cant sustain black and white, even as i know you can evolve. at this point, you need to be judged with a board of education to knock the spots off your face
The second reading at Mass this evening confirmed this! I love it when God taps me on the shoulder like that! Also the Gospel speaks to another thread I am involved in. Prayed for you guys here on PF. And prayed that I am a good representation of the faith. Romans 13:8-10 Matthew 18:15-20 Read more: http://www.ewtn.com/devotionals/inspiration.htm#4#ixzz1WvswFeF7
Now see, this is the sort of thing I was trying to avoid on this thread. This thread was designed to value everyones input, albiet vain attempt. My hope was that everyone could be heard without any critiques other than the judges to see which sermon would win. From here on out, no one should respond unless wanting to be a judge.

Do you think my idea is unattainable? Do you think it is a bad idea in general? If not, why not become a judge yourself?
O God, ease our suffering in this, our moment of great dispair. Yea, admit this kind and decent woman into thy arms of thine heavenly area, up there. And Moab, he lay us upon the band of the Canaanites, and yea, though the Hindus speak of karma, I implore you: give her a break. Clark!... Honey, I'm not an ordained minister. I'm doing my best.
Ok, what topic would you suggest we start with that everyone can give a sermon about? This is an exploration of wisdom, not a thread to bash each others belief strutures.
