While totally agreeing that it should be possible to have churches in Saudi Arabia, I tend to lean towards the old principle of sweeping one's own doorstep first. Thus I'm more concerned with mosques in my country. And it saddens me when they are threatened by arson attacks.

Would that be those who've been called a "demographic bomb" by Netanyahu? http://www.haaretz.com/news/mks-slam-netanyahu-s-remarks-about-israeli-arabs-1.108963
I hear that some of these Arab Israelis feel that they are discriminated against. I wonder why.

Some posters' hatred of Muslims has hardly anything to do with religion either. To them religion is just another pretext to indulge in racism and xenophobia.

Yeah, it has to do with violence and hatred for all things non-Muslim. People are fed up with it.

Same, but they are there. protected by law. Much unlike churches. Silly comparison.
Maybe they should support the nation they live in more. Muslims feeling discriminated generally comes from the fact they get less and less special treatment.

Also they are a demographic threat, if Israel is no longer a Jewish state the Muslims will once more ethnically cleanse the infidels, something they do on a regular basis since they started their silly religion.

2011.04.12 (Faryab, Afghanistan) - Talibanis gun down three children and their father.
2011.04.11 (Khan Bani Saad, Iraq) - Ten women and children are killed in a home by Jihadi bombers.
2011.04.11 (Baghdad, Iraq) - A 10-year-old girl is among four Iraqis murdered in a terrorist blast along a city street.
2011.04.11 (Kanrakai, Pakistan) - Women and children are among the casualties when religious radicals set off a roadside bomb.
2011.04.11 (Fallujah, Iraq) - A triple bombing leaves seven dead.
2011.04.11 (Kidero, Dagestan) - Three policemen die when Islamic militants ambush them with machine-guns.

Maybe to do with the following.

    - Lack of integration in the west, high crime, high wellfare, Islamic no go zones.
    - Terrorism
    - No tolerance towards infidels in their home country's
    - Lack of proper responses when their religion gets used for terrorism.
    - Insane intolerance towards people who make fun, mock, or insult their religion.

But sure, it must be racism.

Let me know when Christians and Hindu's kill daily on a global scale on a dozen hotspots in the name of their religion.

Yepp, my dear, it is racism and the mindless repetition of prejudices, nothing else.

I suppose it's what people have to dwell in when they can't get a life. So I can't help feeling a bit sorry for you.

Got a life, job, 3 kids, and something which resembles a woman.

It must be racism that there are attacks around the globe, daily, in the name of Islam. The racism comes from them. and the Koran ;)

But hey you can hide behind a political correct mask all you want, I am sure you will be a minority soon, with Islam getting bad PR daily by violence, intolerance, and racism.

Remember the daily attacks by Hindu's and Christians around the globe daily in name of their religion? me Neither ;)

Yepp, it is well possible that people like me who try to uphold core values of enlightenment such as religious tolerance, will be in the minority one day.

In my country it has happened before that people with different ideas were in the majority: between 1933 to 1945. Like you the people who came into power in Germany in 1933 had a huge propaganda-machine behind them and a favourite group of scapegoats.
Yet the few Germans who tried to uphold 'political correctness' in those days are more fondly remembered today then the majority who did not. Thus I'd rather stick to my views then to ever bow down to today's hate-mongerers like Wilders.

You do not uphold enlightenment, you are willing to ignore violence towards large amounts of people as long as it falls in line with your idea that every religion is equal.

You are willing to abandon woman / homosexual / minority rights to ensure a religion is considered ' normal' despite its clear that the rights of above mentioned groups is downright appealing in the Islamic World.

Even Turkey and Malaysia are vastly inferior in its treatment to those three groups when compared to other nations.

Fact: Islam is violent, accept it. You can hide behind a political appeasement mask all you want but appeasing will never work.

2011.04.16 (Galkayo, Somalia) - A government official is among three people dismantled by a bomb planted by 'Pakistani preachers'.
2011.04.16 (Azazga, Algeria) - Islamic fundamentalists assault a local security post, leaving at least 14 members dead.
2011.04.16 (Laghman, Afghanistan) - A Fedayeen suicide bomber kills nine soldiers.
2011.04.15 (Budgam, India) - Islamists drag a female political candidate out of her home and shoot her to death.
2011.04.15 (Maiduguri, Nigeria) - Boko Haram Islamists gun down two innocents.
2011.04.15 (Zarqa, Jordan) - A mob of Islamists attack police and accused atheists with bats and knives, leaving at least fifty injured.

I don't ignore or condone violence nor does upholding religious tolerance and freedom mean that I think every religion is equal. Quite the contrary:
Religions are pretty diverse, even within each religion there's a lot of diversity. It is you who doesn't distinguish between people like Amina Wadud and Osama bin Laden, let alone the many shades between their respective positions.

LOL, so you of all people in this forum make yourself out as a protector of women, homosexuals and minorities? May I quote Judith Butler at this point?

Ah, on sunny days I still have hope for humankind. The alternatives you have to offer would certainly lead to its destruction.

You would think the muzzie lovers around here will finally understand that they aren't isolated instances of people doing bad things that simply happen to be Muslims but doing bad things because they are Muslims in the name of their God.

It is not that people love or hate Jews or Muslims, contary to your desired views, but rather that it is wrong to hate the innocent regardless of religion. You need to understand that people are not filled with the racist hatred you demand from them.

Islam as a religion however is, which is why it is by far the most violent and oppressive religion by far.

You need to judge Islamics *NOW* to Christianity *NOW* not to Christianity hundreds of years ago. The problem with Islam is they are still stuck in the dark ages.

Well some Christians have still been talking of a "crusade" recently and rather than persecuting the criminals who were behind 9/11 and bringing them before a court of law, as civilized people would have done, they've started bombing whole countries and opening up torture camps. Seems as if enlightenment hasn't reached all of us yet, doesn't it?

Suicide bombers all died on 9/11, you can't bring to trial dead people. You have to go after them before they commit suicide like in Afghanistan.

There are no current crusades. And I consider that a sign that we are prehaps learning. Who are the criminals you refer to who were behind 9/11 and bombing whole countries?

Not least due to Bush's choice of words some people may have gotten a different impression. He openly called his "war on terror" just that.

We shall probably never really know, because the few confessions that were made were made under torture and therefore would be worthless in a proper court; which is probably one of the reasons why the idea of putting people like Khalid Shaikh Mohammed in front of a civilian court in NY faced such fierce opposition.

And to be honest I don't see the use of torture as a sign that we're "perhaps learning", nor do I regard 'collateral damages' as a sign of seeking justice.
What would have been a sign of us behaving like civilized people? See post #58 http://www.politicalforum.com/latest-world-news/165814-global-jihad-collection-thread-6.html#post3525661

Junobet with all due respect and although I agree that some injustices are still being inflicted in this world, I do not believe that it is honest to claim that a declaration of "war on terrorism" is akin to the Crusades, witch trials etc that we have seen in our history. Is it your claim that current German society is akin to what was going on here in the middle ages or even 60 years ago? If so we must be living in different worlds. The average citizen was previously subject to mob justice, violence at the hands of the state, no due process or rule of law applied. Nowdays we reserve that for perceived enemies. I consider that progress.
Now tell me that you really believe that European civilisation is like it once was...

Conspiracy theories abound. But saying there must be more to it, does not amount to proving that that is so. So in the interests of staying focused, I assume that the official story is true and reject any infammatory allegations against anyone else.

    Which "official story"?
If you think "Guantanamo Bay" is a conspiracy theory, you either don't follow the news or you're too paranoid to trust any of them.
It is of course possible that I'm utterly naive to give media like the SPIEGEL, the Guardian or the Washington Post, any credence. Who knows.

So what's a conspiracy theory about stating that Osama Bin Laden could probably have been put before a proper court had the Bush administration accepted one of the Taliban's various offers to hand him over? Did the Guardian lie?

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2001/oct/17/afghanistan.terrorism11

The fact that the Bush administration condoned the use of what is commonly regarded as torture on other people suspected of an involvement in 9/11 is also well established. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article6130165.ece
And confessions made under torture are generally not accepted in civil courts of our civilized Western societies including the American one, which makes a proper trial of the accused difficult.

Ever since 9/11 the USA's have made Western claims to be "civilized" a laughing-stock to any truly civilized person on this planet.
I strongly believe in those civilized values as they were represented in the USA's and our European jurisdiction systems. Seeing how they've been thrown overboard in Bush's "Crusade" is saddening.
