Since 2007 I've been promoting an alternative theory on stabilization of the climate. I take climate change itself very seriously, especially the threat of rising ocean levels but......... I regard a Carbon Tax or Cap and Trade System as a colossal waste of money, time, energy and talent. I believe that only nations with lots of desert are in a position to do what needs to be done to address the threat of rising ocean levels.

If Canadians were aware of how much H2O was being added to the central region of Antarctica they would know that a Carbon Tax is a joke played on an underinformed population.

Facts
Climate change alarmism is based on flawed models that have consistently failed at correctly predicting the future. None of the cataclysmic predictions that have been made about the climate since the 1970s have come true. No new ice age. No steady warming in direct relation with increases in CO2 levels. No disappearance of polar ice caps. No exceptional rise in ocean levels. No abnormal increase in catastrophic weather events. No widespread crop failure and famine.

In fact, CO2 is beneficial for agriculture and there has recently been a measurable “greening” of the world in part thanks to higher levels. Despite what global warming propaganda claims, CO2 is not a pollutant. It is an essential ingredient for life on Earth and needed for plant growth.

Our Plan
Given the uncertainties over the scientific basis of global warming, and the certainties about the huge costs of measures designed to fight it, there is no compelling reason to jeopardize our prosperity with more government interventions.

A People’s Party government will:

Withdraw from the Paris Accord and abandon unrealistic greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.

Stop sending billions of dollars to developing countries to help them reduce their emissions.

Abolish the Liberal government’s carbon tax and leave it to provincial governments to adopt programs to reduce emissions if they want to.

Abolish subsidies for green technology and let private players develop profitable and efficient alternatives.

Invest in mitigation strategies if problems arise as a result of any natural climate change.

Prioritize implementing practical solutions to make Canada’s air, water and soil cleaner, including bringing clean drinking water to remote First Nations communities.

Mega scale desalination of ocean water in Israel, Jordan, Australia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, California, Tunisia, Morocco and in other nations with lots of desert is the response to climate change that I recommend.

The most practical solution to climate change that I have read so far was put forward by New Mexico biologist and coach Carl Cantrell:

So how is our problem of continental drying causing global warming? It all has to do with vegetation and sunlight. When sun light hits a plant, it causes a process which we call photosynthesis where the energy from the sun light creates oxygen for us to breath, water for us to drink, and is stored as sugar for plants and animals to use. When the same sun light hits the soil, all of its energy turns into heat and is radiated back into the atmosphere, carried away by running surface water such as rain fall, is carried away to other areas by our winds, and diffuses down into the soil towards the earth's crust. All of this warms our planet increasing its average temperature.

Therefore, the less vegetation you have on the planet, the more sunlight is being turned into heat and the warmer the planet becomes. This is very critical because warmer and dryer winds dry out other land areas faster decreasing the vegetation on those land areas. Less humidity in the air also reflects less sun light back out into space so that more sun light strikes the earth and more heat is generated.

The truth is that you can do more to decrease global warming by just reducing the average temperature for the Sahara Desert by one or two degrees than if we humans completely quit using fossil fuels and returned to the cave.

So, how would you start working to resolve this problem? Easy, cool the deserts and get some vegetation growing on them as soon as possible. But the method is much more complex than that. You have to use the prevailing trade winds in relation to the deserts to get the best results as quickly as possible and it will be extremely expensive.

Then we build desalination plants along the coast near these water sheds and pipe water to the tops or ridges of the water sheds

This will do a number of things. First, it will increase the moisture in the desert soil so that it will develop water tables and water will begin to run in the streams. This water will increase the amount of vegetation in the area and decrease the amount of heat being generated by sun light cooling the watered area and all areas down wind of the watered area. As more available water evaporates, it will cool the air and reflect more sun light back out into space cooling the area even more. Cooler and more humid air will have less of a heating effect on areas down wind and will reflect more sun light back into space in those areas cooling areas we won't be watering yet. Cooler and more humid air will also have less of a warming effect on our seas and oceans.

Rain water running off of cooler soil will decrease the heating effect on our oceans and our planet crusts which will decrease catastrophic storm activities for other areas and seismic activity for the entire planet. Also, returning more ocean water to the surface and aquifers of our continents will lower the sea levels providing more usable land for us to farm and build on.

With cooler desert areas and increasing vegetation, less water will evaporate from our deserts increasing the amount of surface water even more and increasing the amount of vegetation and animal life by huge amounts because deserts currently take up more than 20% of our land surface. Populations will be able to spread out and there will be less competition for existing land areas.

This strategy has to be done in steps with the first step being to begin slowing the rate at which our global warming is increasing. We need to focus on that until we have brought it to a point to where the temperature is not increasing any more and is reasonably stable. While we are doing this, we need to come to a global consensus of just how cool we want to cool our planet down to. If we cool it down too much, we will begin to have devastatingly harsh winters in large populated areas and even cause an ice age to set in.

Then we begin cooling the planet down to a point which will be most beneficial for all countries or the planet as a whole. We need to gradually bring the temperature down because there may be a lag effect in which the planet will continue cooling after we stop increasing our efforts to cool it off more. We may even want to stop cooling the planet once or twice before we reach our targeted temperatures to see if there is a lag effect

We need to start working on this as soon as possible because, if the planet reaches a point to where it is warming faster than our technology can possibly stop or reverse this warming trend, then our planet is lost and all life will cease to exist on this planet within a relatively short period of time. We Canadians attempt to be reasonably good neighbours so after visiting Truro, N. S., and
Moncton, N. B., so many times in my sixty years I find myself asking questions that people in
Ottawa don't seem to be looking at in a very objective manner.

If average ocean levels rose by eight to ten cms (3 or 4 inches) could high tide...

... rise by one meter in the Isthmus of Chignecto in Nova Scotia, Canada?
This question is logical because the geography of Canada's Bay of Fundy produces the world's highest tides. In my part of Nova Scotia in Guysborough County there is very little funnelling of tidal waters......... so high tide is only about one to one point five meters above low tide.

In the eastern area of the Bay of Fundy high tide levels are up by ten to fifteen meters.

Mr. Mervyn DePendleton came up with a brilliant and practical possible solution to the situation faced in the eastern area of the Bay of Fundy where tides are the most extreme.

"Well from an engineering point of view if it was a sure thing and time would allow the answer is not going to be try to air condition the Antarctic. I would think in terms of cutting a relief channel. That would be between Sackville and Amherst would be to excavate a canal that would only start to receive water when the tide is up approximately the half of normal height and this canal would have to continue sloping down and terminate in the Gulf of St. Lawrence across from PEI.

No doubt such an undertaking would get bad reviews from a lot of environmentalist but it could save some of the low level human habitation on the banks of the Bay of Fundy. When I visited the area I remember on the N.B. side that there was a lot of high ground as you went inland from the shore of the Bay.

Another approach would be to think like the Seaway Project where Cardinal and Morrisburg and lots of farms and places on the Canadian side of the St. Lawrence were moved and the land flooded with the power dam near Cornwall. The idea with Fundy would in the energy extraction view would be to tell all the low land people to hit it, your property is ruined. At the sea entrance somewhere more in the direction toward St. John to create a one way valve type mechanism. Let the tide water come rushing and don't let it leave right away. When the tide forces have receded then release the water through turbines to generate electricity. From half tide to low tide and back to just coming back again all the stored water has to be used. It might also be possible to get some energy out of the water when it is rushing in at high tide.

I'm sure some high math and some good engineers could get the greatest benefit possible from conditions we otherwise cannot control. Also do not give up on the earth getting ever hotter as it may well be cooling for a while before us. All the end of world alarmist like Paul Ehrlich and the peak oil we would be burning camel dung by 1999 alarmist have all failed miserably in their predictions. The big problem with all of them is that they are trying to tell us something about the future. Conservative minded people know the secret, if you want to predict the future get out in front of it and do something to shape the future with your own hands.

Salim Mansur - The Conservative Party Stands Up For Canada

Mr. Andrew Scheer and Mr. Maxime Bernier are in a position to debate and discuss issues all across the board and plan something along the line of an organized series of stand downs for the final five weeks of the campaign. In a way... the division between the CPC and the PPC could work out good for Canadians. The pro-life question could be what divides us even further for the moment but then brings us back together in the final weeks of the election campaign.

We in the PPC and those in the CPC are also very divided over climate change and how to respond to it. I like the suggestion from New Mexico biologist and coach Carl Cantrell of using large scale desalination of ocean water for agriculture and for cities and towns experiencing water shortages.

These are two good reasons for the CPC and the PPC to divide for the moment but we really should be discussing ways to unite by the time of the election because both of these questions are relevant to saving thousands and even tens of thousands of lives over the coming years and decades.

Andrew Scheer, I am willing to take on either M. P. Sean Fraser or M.P. Bill Casey.

Can you imagine 169 PPC candidates facing no Conservative Party rival in their riding on October 19?

How about 169 Conservative Party incumbent M. P's and candidates facing no PPC rival in their riding?

This would be win - win - win - win - win for both the PPC and for the CPC and for all Canadians because this would definitely answer the quite real problem of Splitting the Vote.

I watched this video ten times...... I think that you should too.... this needs to be shared to all PPC and CPC members all across Canada. This is an option truly worthy of consideration but the momentum for this must build at the grassroots of both parties first before Mr. Bernier and Mr. Scheer will feel free to discuss this publicly.

Oh..... my solution of an organized series of stand downs might work better considering that we only have nine months to make this all happen. The solution in this video might work better over five to ten years rather than nine months.

Here is my simpler solution that I posted to the Facebook page wall of M. P. Candice Bergen in December to her cartoon of Santa stuck in a convoy:

I am a member of the PPC but I plan on mounting a campaign to challenge Max for the leadership and one of my opening gambits is to promote a plan to run no PPC candidate against you.... and M. P. Michelle Rempel. Many PPC members would see this as a promising possible answer to the question of Vote Splitting."

"Personally I would love to see this basic idea expanded to include eighty percent or more of CPC incumbent M. I would so love to be proven wrong but I am genuinely worried about hundreds, if not thousands if not tens of thousand of Americans being injured or even killed in civil unrest if the groups determined to devalue the USA petrodollar succeed in their plans.

We Canadians try our best to be good neighbours so........
it seems to me that you two national leaders of Canada's federal level conservative movement have a responsibility to talk to each other and come to some sort of agreement......... because the lives of our neighbours are at stake!

Thank you for considering this option that will make one of you Prime Minister of Canada in October of 2019 and the other one of you will become leader of the federal level party that holds the balance of power in Ottawa that will give you that office.

But I am personally concerned about rapid cracking and sliding of ice off the West Antarctic Ice Sheet so getting prepared to ramp up desalination is what we need to be discussing.......... not a Carbon Tax or a Cap and Trade System on atmospheric carbon!

the possibility of the eastern area of the Bay of Fundy being perhaps in the position
of the proverbial "canary in the coal mine" as far as the possible threat of rising ocean

Dear residents of Indian Harbour Lake, Sonora and Wine Harbour: I am campaigning for the office of Municipal Councilor for St. Mary's District 4.

There are three primary threats to the quality of life for all of us who live here. High unemployment will probably force most of our young people to move far away to find jobs. Because of government cut backs St. Mary's Educational Centre may be closed as early as 2011. In the near future record high tides may devastate our roads and homes that are only a few feet above sea level. We are being told that there is little that you and I can do about any of these problems but this is simply not true.

Satellite pictures show rapid melting of Arctic ice but only about ten percent is above water level. Ice occupies more space than liquid water so until now we have experienced rather little ocean level rise. Our situation will be entirely different if and when melting occurs in the massive ice pack on Greenland and Antarctica that sit on land.

I am in agreement with environmentalist and economist Bjorn Lomborg that a carbon shift policy will probably be ineffective over the short term in combating global temperature increases or in preventing a destructive rise in world ocean levels.

Another promising method to green the deserts is to use hydrogen fuel cell technology to power vehicles in the hottest and driest regions of the earth. Imagine millions of vehicles across the Sahara, the Middle East, near the US Mojave desert and in the outback of Australia all spewing harmless water vapor as exhaust! Rest assured humidity and rainfall will increase in those areas and vegetation will grow.

Last week I wrote a lengthy e-mail to Green Party Leader Elizabeth May. "Ms. May, if you owned a large apartment building and your tenants complained that the rooms were too warm would you listen to the advice of the contractor who was telling you to rip all the insulation out of the walls of this structure?"

"I don't think that you would because your article indicates that you have a phenomenal intellect and listening to this probably self-interested contractor would be incredibly unwise!"

"Combating global warming by first getting rid of CO2 is comparable to tearing the insulation out of this hypothetical building. CO2 is not a pollutant. Plants love this compound and some people even seem to feel that the recent greening in some parts of the Sahara Desert is partly attributable to increased levels of CO2. Ms. May deserves credit for encouraging Canadian political leaders to take environmental issues more seriously but at this time I feel that she has far too much confidence in the proposals put forward at Kyoto. The skepticism that Prime Minister Harper had for this accord seems to have been based on sound reasoning. Liberal Leader Stephane Dion was wise to hope for more time to further study this complex subject before an election.

You would be astonished how many of our political leaders do not understand the tremendous benefits of historical Canadian monetary policy.

I posted the following to my Facebook wall on June 7, 2019:

I am attempting to set Mr. Maxime Bernier up with something that can be huge......
I am thinking of Mr. Bernier as a star lob ball batter up at bat.... I am attempting to lob the softball into the strike zone to the best of my ability............ and I regard Mr. Bernier as capable of taking one step either north, east, south or west........
and hitting the ball out of the park......... and getting a grand slam home run....... because all 338 bases are loaded!!!!!!

The analogy kind of breaks down because I am on Mr. Bernier's team as well! I would love to see him bat this out of the park but..... I have to admit that what I have in mind is somewhat offensive to many PPC members. Discussion of this option for later on can prove that the PPC is the party of freedom of thought and expression which can inspire many Canadians to join us as well.

Mr. Bernier does NOT have to swing at this pitch.... and he certainly doesn't need to take one step in the direction of this pitch but.......... over the coming several months if this topic generates a lot of discussion we might be surprised where this could lead. I am thinking in terms of the PPC having double the membership of the CPC by the time of the election!

I am seeking the nomination to represent the PPC here in Central - Nova and part of my platform will be an anti-feticide bill with the wording: "A ban on intra-cardiac potassium chloride injections on singletons."

I have a policy initiative in mind for the inevitable PPC leadership race that could lead to a massive decrease in Canadian women choosing to have an abortion. Simply discussing this issue publicly could lead to thousands or even tens of thousands of new memberships in the PPC?

Five hundred dollars per Canadian per month, can this work?

I am advocating the usage of the Bank of Canada that is owned by all Canadians to finance giving five hundred dollars per month to all thirty seven million Canadians.

Would the incidence of Canadian women choosing to have an abortion plummet by a huge percentage? Personally I do think so!

It will of course mean much more to poorer Canadians than to millionaires........
but it could be surprising how many stay at home wives with cheap and stingy millionaire husbands who control the purse strings of the home may find this extra five hundred very helpful indeed.

I suspect that well over eighty percent of of Canadians will spend this money reasonably well and:
1. enrol their kids in more after school programs.....
2. begin to purchase a higher percentage of organic produce vs the cheap GMO stuff
3. purchase a newer car, SUV or half ton truck
4. do renovations to their homes

6. pay down their debt loads, especially the higher interest ones
7. buy a new home rather than renting
8. buy a cottage outside the city so that they can get away for weekends

I suspect that less than ten percent of Canadians will attempt to live off this five hundred dollars / month and simply use it to drink or smoke more.

To whatever degree this happens the worst cases where these Canadians put themselves and others in danger this can be dealt with by issuing food stamps vs a monthly check.

I have listened to an audio video over and over again that explains what President Obama did from 2009 - 2014 and I came up with this idea because it is close to being the OPPOSITE to what President Obama did. He gave billions to the top one percent of the top one percent of the INVESTOR CLASS of Americans........ .and if he was expecting a trickle down effect to create jobs..... that certainly DID NOT happen!

Technically I am also advocating a variation of Quantitative Easing but......
my plan of sending it to ALL CANADIAN CITIZENS vs sending it pretty much all to INVESTORS.... makes my plan uniquely different.

Over nine months ago, I made the decision to seek the Conservative Party of Canada’s nomination in London North Centre, and submitted my paperwork with a $1000 deposit, as required, to the Party’s headquarters.

In November, the Party’s Regional Organizer told me that I could launch my campaign, and that all of my papers were in order.

On June 10, I received notice from the Conservative Party of Canada’s Executive Director that my candidacy had been “disallowed” for reasons not specified. This email told me I had a right to appeal my disallowance to the Party’s National Council. I took a few days to speak with my family, friends, supporters and campaign team. I submitted my appeal by email on June 15. On June 17, my appeal was rejected because 24 hours had elapsed from receipt of the disallowance notice.

On June 20, the party announced the nomination race in London North Centre. This notice of nomination contest, released after the party formally disallowed my candidacy, has removed any doubt that the party had decided right at the outset that I would not be allowed to contest the nomination.

I was prepared to accept the result of losing a nomination, or losing the election. It is harder for me to accept that London North Centre members, who have donated their time and money and purchased memberships in support of me over the last nine months, will be denied their democratic right to choose their candidate.

Canada is at a crossroads. The twin forces of globalism and Islamism will unalterably change the culture and politics of our beloved Canada.

The damage that Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party have already done cries out for reversal. By disallowing my candidacy the Conservative party has indicated it will not even address the fundamental challenge Canadians face that globalism and Islamism together represents to us, and our children, during the 2019 election.

I am consulting with my team how I may serve best my country at this time so critical in Canada’s history, and shortly I will make known our decision.

You could coopt a piece of legislation that I was given several years ago: "Ban intra-cardica potassium chloride injections on singletons." I would love it if you made this proposed anti-feticide private members bill a part of your platform because Mr. Maxime Bernier has stated that he will allow PPC M.P's to vote their conscience on a piece of legislation like this.

As many of you may have already guessed.....
I am a strange person and I think somewhat differently than most people do...... I was rejected by the PPC to become a candidate for them and I frankly breathed a sigh of relief... because I did not want the volumes of stuff that I have written to
weigh down the PPC almost like an Albatros tied around your neck........

I announced my rejection on Facebook and I have already been contacted by another party that is interested in me representing them here in Central Nova. I sent off the following message to somebody who may represent the PPC here..... and this is no joking matter:

... I am a very strange person... I was already contacted by another political party to run for them.... and I did not say no.. .for the simple reason that I know that I can donate you tons of footage... that you will own....... and use only if you wish.......
and you and I could debate and argue on youtube and we might just be able to dominate the alternative media hits for Central Nova over the coming months????

Here is the question that I recommend we get into quickly that could grab both of us a lot of media attention.....
"If average ocean levels rose by eight to ten cms (3 or 4 inches) could high tide..."

... rise by one meter in the Isthmus of Chignecto in Nova Scotia, Canada? This question is logical because the geography of Canada's Bay of Fundy produces the world's highest tides. In my part of Nova Scotia in Guysborough County there is very little funnelling of tidal waters......... so high tide is only about one to one point five meters above low tide. In the eastern area of the Bay of Fundy high tide levels are up by ten to fifteen meters.

For the record..... I would really love it if you could prove to me that my worries and concerns are unfounded!

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer is not going to win the Oct. 21 election if he’s running scared of Liberal fear-mongering about Islamophobia by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

An indication that’s happening is the party’s recent veto, without explanation, of Salim Mansur from seeking the Conservative nomination in London North Centre.

I’ve known Mansur for 15 years and was his editor when he was a longtime columnist for the Toronto Sun.

He’s a scholar and a gentleman, now retired, after a distinguished career of more than three decades as an associate professor of political science at the University of Western Ontario.

He has been a supporter of Canada’s conservative movement through its darkest hours — including the 1993 election when the Progressive Conservative party was reduced to two seats.

He ran for the Canadian Alliance in London West in 2000, losing to the Liberal incumbent, and supported the unite-the-right movement spearheaded by former Conservative prime minister Stephen Harper.

Mansur’s speeches and published works have appeared widely, including his 2011 award-winning book, Delectable Lie: A liberal repudiation of multiculturalism, for which I wrote one of the cover blurbs, calling Mansur “a brilliant academic and thought-provoking journalist” who “explains what liberal democracy really means, and why the protection of individual rights that lies at its heart is under constant assault from the group think mentality of state-imposed multiculturalism.”

Preface

“God’s Peace for the Holy Land*”? Isn’t that a presumptuous title? Please allow

me to explain. First, since the sacred books of Judaism, Christianity and Islam

provide the guidelines supporting this solution, and since I wasn’t the one who

wrote them, calling them “God’s” seems fair. That’s why the words “presented by”

precede my name on the title page. Second, this book in no way proselytizes or

puts one religion above another. Nor does it openly or subtly encourage anyone to

convert to anything. What it does is take into account something without which

attaining peace in the Holy Land (Israel/Palestine) will forever be unattainable.

That “something” is the sacred messages delivered to each of the peoples involved

in the dispute. In this case, referencing the sacred books is more than some dry,

scholarly exercise or even a gesture of courtesy. Without taking the sacred books

into account, peace in the Holy Land will be near, if not completely, impossible.

What it boils down to is this: there are two groups of people, Palestinians and

Ashkenazi Jews (a.k.a. “Khazars”/“Eastern European Jews”) living in the Holy Land

and who appear to be genetically unrelated. In general, the belief systems

(religions) of both groups seem to direct them to subjugate and/or expel the other

group based on their being alien interlopers. Since millions of participants believe

this, and because their beliefs lead to acts of violence, finding a solution that

permits peace requires referencing their sacred literature.

Some may say the conflict has nothing to do with religion, but if this were so,

Jews wouldn’t claim “God gave us this land”. There’d be no point in doing so if it

had no importance to people. And Iran, a Persian nation, would have little interest

in a conflict concerning Semitic peoples several hundred miles away. It’s the

religious connection that brings Muslims of diverse backgrounds together in

support of Palestinians. Nor would millions of American Christians support Israel

without that support based on how they’re taught to read their Bibles." (Robert Mendelson)

There are many other instances in which Muhammad told his people that

the books of the Bible were confirmed. Again, one can argue theology, but

Muslims have a choice as to whether they wish to read the Qur’an for life or

for death. Making use of the Old Testament for a solution meant for the

members of both tribes currently in the Holy Land in no way places Muslims

in other lands under any constraints in their own land. The following passage

“glad tidings” to “doers of good”. Muslims are supposed to be “doers of good”.

Using Old Testament Law for the descendents of those it was originally given to

in the same land in which it was originally received doesn’t violate shariah in the

least. Muhammad recited a verse including a reference to David (from the Bible)

Sura 6:85;

And we gave him Isaac and Jacob, and guided both aright;

and We had guided…among the descendants of Abraham, David …”

I love the nice progression of logic in this presentation. Running the numbers like this shows not only how powerful a carbon sink our earth’s soils can be, under the right management, but also just how futile and what a goose-chasing diversion most contemporary technological ‘fixes’ for climate change really are.

When you see the upwardly stepped red line (10:32) showing the seasonal rise and fall of CO2 concentrations (zigzagging seasonally due to the massive intake of CO2 by the northern hemisphere’s deciduous forests over the north’s summer months), try to imagine how that line could peak and begin to step downwardly. It can happen — with holistic education aimed at a widespread effort towards large-scale rehabilitation of our soils; be they deserts, savannahs, scrub lands, set-asides, farms and gardens. Rapid revegetation can put our CO2 rich skies back into balance — pulling the carbon down into our soils, where it becomes a source of fertility, and thus even more vegetation…. The cycle of stupidity, that is our current carbon cycle, can thus become a cycle of stability, health and prosperity.

And, in case you think it can’t be done, consider that we’ve actually cooled the earth before — and not that long ago. Take a look at what is now termed the ‘little ice age’, which ran approximately from 1350 to 1850AD. Over these centuries there were a few significant dips in average global temperatures, and there is a lot of evidence to show that these cooling periods were caused by rapid regional revegetation in Europe, Eurasia and the Americas. In this case the rapid revegetation was caused, not by the work of such educational institutes as our own, but rather because of a sudden die-off of human population numbers, due to disease.

My answer to this is to go all out to educate Canadians about what was done in 1974 so that
the provinces and municipalities can afford to financing getting the needed equipment to combat
forest fires in all provinces more effectively.

HOW PIERRE TRUDEAU TURNED US INTO DEBT SLAVES

"But somehow this worked backward for Trudeau. Many Canadians still think highly of Pierre Trudeau, but in 1974 he did one terrible thing that changed the lives, for present and future, of all Canadians, for the worse. Trudeau gave the leading operations of the Bank of Canada over to the private banks operating in Canada.

The Bank of Canada was first established by Prime Minister Richard Bennet in 1935 as a private central bank, but was then nationalized by William Lyon Mackenzie King in 1938. By nationalizing the bank, Mackenzie King meant for it to belong to the people so the Canadian government could borrow funds with little or no interest for capital expenditures. The mandate of the newly nationalized Bank of Canada was to act as the banker to the government and to manage the public debt. As Mackenzie King famously said: “Once a nation parts with the control of their currency and credit, it matters not who makes that nation’s laws. Usury, once in control, will wreck any nation. Until the control of the issue of currency and credit is restored to government and recognized as its most sacred responsibility, all talk of sovereignty of parliament and of democracy is idle and futile.”

So the Bank of Canada was nationalized in 1938 and the government could now borrow money with little or no interest. And it worked. The Canadian government built freeways, public transportation systems, subway line, airports, the St. Lawrence Seaway and funded a national health care system and the Canada Pension Plan. But then Trudeau, under the influence of the international financial group called Basel’s
Committee’s Recommendations (The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision) made the decision to halt the borrowing of money from the Bank of Canada, and instead, chose to borrow from the private banks who instead of lending to the government at no interest, or low interest, introduced higher interest rates along with compound interest.

All banks know very well the magic of compound interest. And Pierre Trudeau must have known that the mounting compounded national debt would lead to Canadians eventually owing a dollar fifty for every dollar of their disposable incomes. After all, he studied economics at the London School of Economics. Surely the professors there knew about compound interest.

So Pierre Trudeau, instead of feeling blessed that Canada, unlike the US, had a nationalized central bank, signed our bank away to the private banks. Couldn’t Trudeau, such an educated man, surmise that citizens in a few years would be struggling to make car payments and meet rent and mortgages and student loans and to buy healthy food while last year’s profits for the big five (that’s Royal Bank, TD Bank, Scotiabank, Bank of Montreal and CIBC amounted to $31.7 billion?) If he did, he didn’t care. But it doesn’t have to be this way. It really doesn’t. Our Bank of
Canada is still there. Next time."

Forestry Minister Oneil Carlier said Wednesday he doubts that cuts to the fire prevention and fire suppression budgets this year are responsible for the Horse Creek fire that is ravaging Fort McMurray.

Carlier said Wednesday he didn’t think the $5.3-million cut to forest fire preparation, prevention and mitigation budget played a part in the disaster.

“I think it’s too early to tell what role that might or might not have played in Fort McMurray, but it’s something to consider,” he said Wednesday.

The province also chopped its wildfire management base operating budget by $9.4 million, lopping $5.1 million off air tanker contracts.

Carlier and Premier Rachel Notley have defended the cuts to the tanker contracts since the budget was tabled April 14, saying the government would bolster the funding for firefighting as required.

Notley accused Wildrose Leader Brian Jean of fearmongering in the legislature Tuesday when he raised concerns about the cuts.

When sun light hits a plant, it causes a process which we call photosynthesis where the energy from the sun light creates oxygen for us to breath, water for us to drink, and is stored as sugar for plants and animals to use. When the same sun light hits the soil, all of its energy turns into heat and is radiated back into the atmosphere, carried away by running surface water such as rain fall, is carried away to other areas by our winds, and diffuses down into the soil towards the earth's crust. All of this warms our planet increasing its average temperature.�

�Therefore, the less vegetation you have on the planet, the more sunlight is being turned into heat and the warmer the planet becomes. This is very critical because warmer and dryer winds dry out other land areas faster decreasing the vegetation on those land areas. Less humidity in the air also reflects less sun light back out into space so that more sun light strikes the earth and more heat is generated�.�

�The truth is that you can do more to decrease global warming by just reducing the average temperature for the Sahara Desert by one or two degrees than if we humans completely quit using fossil fuels and returned to the cave�.�

�So, how would you start working to resolve this problem? Easy, cool the deserts and get some vegetation growing on them as soon as possible. But the method is much more complex than that. You have to use the prevailing trade winds in relation to the deserts to get the best results as quickly as possible and it will be extremely expensive�.�

�Then we build desalination plants along the coast near these water sheds and pipe water to the tops or ridges of the water sheds��

�This will do a number of things. First, it will increase the moisture in the desert soil so that it will develop water tables and water will begin to run in the streams. This water will increase the amount of vegetation in the area and decrease the amount of heat being generated by sun light cooling the watered area and all areas down wind of the watered area. As more available water evaporates, it will cool the air and reflect more sun light back out into space cooling the area even more. Cooler and more humid air will have less of a heating effect on areas down wind and will reflect more sun light back into space in those areas cooling areas we won't be watering yet. Cooler and more humid air will also have less of a warming effect on our seas and oceans.�

�Rain water running off of cooler soil will decrease the heating effect on our oceans and our planet crusts which will decrease catastrophic storm activities for other areas and seismic activity for the entire planet. Also, returning more ocean water to the surface and aquifers of our continents will lower the sea levels providing more usable land for us to farm and build on.�

�With cooler desert areas and increasing vegetation, less water will evaporate from our deserts increasing the amount of surface water even more and increasing the amount of vegetation and animal life by huge amounts because deserts currently take up more than 20% of our land surface. Populations will be able to spread out and there will be less competition for existing land areas.�

�This strategy has to be done in steps with the first step being to begin slowing the rate at which our global warming is increasing. We need to focus on that until we have brought it to a point to where the temperature is not increasing any more and is reasonably stable. While we are doing this, we need to come to a global consensus of just how cool we want to cool our planet down to. If we cool it down too much, we will begin to have devastatingly harsh winters in large populated areas and even cause an ice age to set in.�

�Then we begin cooling the planet down to a point which will be most beneficial for all countries or the planet as a whole. We need to gradually bring the temperature down because there may be a lag effect in which the planet will continue cooling after we stop increasing our efforts to cool it off more. We may even want to stop cooling the planet once or twice before we reach our targeted temperatures to see if there is a lag effect��

�We need to start working on this as soon as possible because, if the planet reaches a point to where it is warming faster than our technology can possibly stop or reverse this warming trend, then our planet is lost and all life will cease to exist on this planet within a relatively short period of time. Wild ideas? In the recent history of Canadian politics, no politician has been more grounded or sane.

You want wild ideas? Here’s one. Let’s take all the milk produced in the country and force it into a national price-control system. The price will be set by a national regulator based in Ottawa. Every person who wants to own a cow will have to buy a government-mandated licence, known as a quota, for $20,000 per cow. Each farm family would have to borrow a million dollars’ worth of quota just for the right to milk cows. Then they’d have to buy the cows — and the farm and the equipment.

Sounds crazy, I know. But get this: The cost of operating the national system will drive the price of milk and cheese and butter up to impossible levels. So we’ll need big, 300-per-cent tariffs at the border to keep out foreign milk products, forcing Canadian consumers to pay ridiculously high prices.

If that’s not wild enough, why don’t we just let this crazy idea spin out a little further into hypothetical, but clearly absurd territory. Suppose we impose a similar scheme on eggs and chickens. Expensive groceries for all Canadians! An added bonus: Behind the supply-management wall, Canada will maintain key agricultural sectors that are globally uncompetitive.

I should probably give you all some verification that I've been working on this for over twelve years:

Dear Mr. Branson:

It is my firm belief that the number one technological device to reduce atmospheric greenhouse gases has already been invented. It is the tree.

What is desperately needed at this time is not necessarily a new mechanical device but instead a paradigm shift in economic theory regarding monetary policy. We require a readily understandable explanation on how leaders in business and government can direct not only millions, but actually trillions of dollars of investment into combating global warming.

One of the most effective practical methods that could be put into place in the least amount of time would be dozens of the largest possible desalinization plants all along the Mediterranean and Red Seas. Huge quantities of fresh water could be dripped onto the Sinai and Sahara deserts and voila, well chosen species of newly planted fast growing trees could soon change the color of these relatively desolate areas, significantly reduce atmospheric CO2, positively affect local weather patterns and at the same time significantly counterbalance the increases in worldwide ocean levels as the polar ice caps melt. This will buy us some extra time and thus expand the "very brief window of opportunity to deal with climate change."

So who is going to finance the construction of all these massive installations not to mention the planting of all those seedling trees?| (Dennis Tate, March 15, 2007)
