I am a gay divorced man, who married a woman, fathered three kids. My daughter is 25 and married a woman herself, My eldest single straight son is 23 , and my younger single straight son is 18. The boys were a very frisky pair of walking hormones from the age of 15, and are both living with women who they have dated for at least years. It was my daughter and daughter-in law that are having my first grand child through IVF. The daughter in law is pregnant. They have been planning for this for two years. It cost them approximately 10,000 dollars( uninsured expenses) in doctor and clinic appointments to make this work. Who would have thought they would be the first! They will be excellent parents, and I am thrilled for them and for me. Haven't held or swaddled or changed a baby in a long time. going to be great fun!
Congratulations! Awesome news and I sure you will be a very proud granddad that will spoil them rotten.
Now the real fun begins that you have worked all your life for...never forget how you feel when you first meet as that will be the moment everything else was for.
@btthegreat I'm so heartened by your endearing story; loving your kids & encouraging them as you know best! Goodness knows, there is a lack of your paternal love & the evident rudiments of fatherly advice within the our society - that you clearly have embodied...
Water broke. They are losing the baby, probably in the next couple of days. It was supposed to be about hope and joy. Its all about grief now.
I'm sorry for your loss. I have a 13 month old granddaughter and can't imagine what you are going through. We did have a miscarriage once, 24 years ago, but it was very early in the pregnancy and she was pregnant again the next month with our #2. Give your daughter a hug and be there for her. That's the best we can do as parents. I'm sure she will appreciate your support and advice. Watch out for postpartum depression and keep an eye on her for a while.
