So the GOP want to PUNISH volunteers who help minorities to register to vote if the person who registers makes a mistake on their form?

That is WRONG on so many levels!

No one should be punished for the mistakes of others.

No one should be punished for enabling others to exercise their Constitutional Right to Vote.

But that is EXACTLY what is happening in a state which has one of the LOWEST REGISTRATION RATES in the entire nation!

Why not pass a Motor Voter Registration bill making it easier and more effective to determine if someone is eligible to vote when they are renewing their drivers or vehicle licenses? That would be a CONSTRUCTIVE step to remediating the problem with the LACK of registrations.

Instead the GOP's NEFARIOUS minority voter suppression agenda takes precedence by VIOLATING the Presumption of Innocence and PUNISHING those who have done nothing wrong.

There is zero justification for this outrage but I have no doubt that BLOTUS supporters will find some way to defend these violations of Constitutional rights.

We the People need to make it abundantly clear that the GOP's Minority Voter Suppression Agenda is UNACCEPTABLE.

    Your thoughts?

    Think about it, DT.

You are asking American conservatives to be FAIR when it comes to voting rights!

It's like asking Chris Christie to become an Alvin Ailey dancer!

They are incapable of fairness when it comes to politics. They have to cheat, because there simply are not enough people foolish enough to vote their way for a win...without cheating.

Supplying false names in voter registration drives is considered voter fraud so what's the problem other than Huff n Puff providing you with click bait?

The will make its way through the courts and the GOP will get slapped down - AGAIN. Their whine will be 'but, but, but there's massive voter fraud.' Yes, there is, by the GOP.

The sad part is that you are 100% correct about the GOP and their nefarious agenda, Frank.

Whatever happened to the concept of "free and fair elections"?

Have the GOP sunk so low that they have adopted a win-at-all-costs mentality that will destroy America?

One would hope so but the courts have now been rigged by the GOP!

That is NOT what they are doing!

Mistakes and incomplete forms are NOT "fraudulent" applications.

Furthermore the people handing them in are NOT responsible for what other people wrote on them.

The person completing the form should be the person to submit the form.

Then why not pass a Motor Voter Registration bill to make that happen?

    Good move.

Insuring the process of creating voters is done with honesty and integrity is an important function. Keeping voter fraud from occurring is a noble effort.

Interesting the rabid left would scream about efforts to insure an honest and fair vote.

Suggests plans may be thwarted with such legislation, which would explain the outrage.

What is fraudulent is turning in large numbers of them at the last minute so they cannot be properly scrutinized and verified. That was one of the reasons for the law.

    More bovine excrement!

There is a 30 day deadline for turning in applications prior to the election. The state needs to provide the manpower to deal with a rush of forms if they refuse to use a Motor Voter system.

Such laws will be tossed out by the courts.

Time to go through the finances and history of the leaders who are trying to suppress voter registration.

He's asking Republicans to give up winning elections. If voting is made easy, more people will vote, and then they would never win anything ever again. Republican positions are contrary to the will of the people. Instead of changing and becoming a real alternative, they have chosen to undermine democracy.

And incomplete or erroneous applications are not votes.

This only penalizes groups when they screw up or register fraudulently.

Most folks call that quality control.

The only thing this 'suppresses' is hasty, innaccurate voter registration.

Where in the article did it stipulate that any false names had been supplied?

    Complete and utter nonsense!

A Motor Voter bill would ensure accurate voter registration.

The SELF INFLICTED problem that TN has right now should not result in those FOLLOWING the current TN laws to be penalized.

The state needs to fix their own BROKEN registration system instead of just making even more difficult for minorities to register to vote.

Seems like the right feels that they can only win through voter suppression. Maybe they can learn from their far right friends in Israel, who are also caught in shenanigans:

    Somewhat of an emerging pattern....

Unfortunately you appear to be correct! :(

Obviously We the People reject the policies of exclusion and divisiveness but the extreme rightwing are using them as a blunt instrument to keep themselves in power. The Apartheid regime used the same tactics and that did not end well for them. Ultimately ordinary people do not want what the extreme right does.

There you go pointing out the obvious.

It's kind of like the voter ID thing. Any measure to make sure that elections are done properly is racistnaziislamophobicfacism.

I invented a new word what do you think?
