Gov. Kasich Signs Law Banning Down Syndrome Abortions.....

Ohio Governor and former 2016 GOP presidential candidate John Kasich signed a pro-life bill on Friday December 22 that bans the abortion of babies diagnosed with Down Syndrome, reports Lifesite News.

The bill is officially known as the Down Syndrome Non-Discrimination Act. It passed the Ohio Senate by a vote of 20-12 and the Ohio House 63-30 in November. The bill bans abortions after prenatal tests show the baby is more likely than not to have Down Syndrome. Any individual who commits an abortion under these conditions would face a fourth-degree felony. Doctors could potentially lose their license.

A key distinction of this bill is that the mother would not be punished for her abortion.

Mike Gonidakis, president of Ohio Right to Life, issued the following statement:

“Now that the Down Syndrome Non-Discrimination Act is law, unborn babies prenatally diagnosed with Down syndrome are given a shot at life,” he said.

“Ohio is and will continue to be a state that sees the lives of people with Down syndrome as lives worth living, thanks to this legislation.”....snip~

Funny you should say that.....in the campaign , out of Republicans, I thought the seemingly intelligent Kasich would've made a decent candidate....but, as we found out , "decent" wasn't what some Americans wanted.

If you are going to use that logic then what is the point of medicaid which goes to poor people who don't really produce anything or society and are in fact a drain on society. Lots of money is spent on old people with alzheimer's disease maybe we should thin that crowd out as well. I am pro choice but definitely not if a woman is just going to have an abortion because her kid isn't perfect. Unlike you I worked with these people when I was a kid and while they are never going to invent spaceships they are just like anyone else.

Let me make it clear. Any woman that has an abortion because of a non-life threatening condition, especially one such as Down syndrome with many of them being high functioning, is a disgusting and horrible monster. If you an abortion then get it done right away instead of sitting around playing baby roulette until you get the perfect kid.

If it was me I would ban any and all testing of the unborn for anything gender, defects and things later like sexual orientation and not having the right traits desired by the parents until we can make custom babies I don't see how else we can protect these unborn from the ravages of fickle parents. Disability is not evil people and in fact expected in a large population its how society cares for us that makes a society great. Down Syndrome is not a huge issue many live good lives, some not good lives and some in the middle that is however the case with disability.

Parents had the choice in most cases to have the child since a penis went into a vagina if there was insufficient protection its not the unborn child to be have a fault in this but the parents, that is why there is birth control. If a hunchback deformed child comes out or a prince its their duty to do right by their child aided by society.

 

No, she is everything the wife and I wanted and more, would not change a thing from the moment she was born. Sure, the work was hard and required a different lifestyle and sacrifice from the norm but today she has her own place 8 blocks from us and takes the public bus to her friends houses, She goes to special dances and activities and has a boyfriend.
