Governor Cuomo Announces New York State Establishes Two Church Testing Sites in Houston COVID-19 Hotspots
    https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/go...hes-two-church-testing-sites-houston-covid-19

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that New York State has established two church testing sites in COVID-19 hotspots in Houston, Texas. The sites, located in Northwest Houston's Fallbrook Church and Southwest Houston's Higher Dimension Church, are in highly-impacted minority communities, are up and running, and will be operational for two weeks, with the capacity for up to 1,000 tests per day. New York State sent more than 20 healthcare workers and public health experts to Houston to consult on the city's COVID-19 response and has also provided supplies. The governor made today's announcement on a conference call with Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.

"When New York went through the unprecedented challenge and unimaginable tragedy of COVID-19's apex in the state, states throughout the country provided supplies, ventilators and personnel during our time of greatest need," Governor Cuomo said. "Now that New York's numbers have stabilized, we're returning the favor across the country, and I am glad to be able to help the great city of Houston establish two testing sites in vulnerable communities. I thank our incredible partners for their efforts to establish the sites and provide supplies and expertise."

Kenneth E. Raske, President, Greater New York Hospital Association, said, "When COVID-19 slammed New York, our hospitals and their heroic workers treated an unthinkable number of extremely ill patients. When we needed help, equally heroic caregivers came to New York and delivered care with grace, courage, and determination. Now it's time to reciprocate the generosity of colleagues, friends, and family across the country. Under Governor Cuomo's leadership, workers from New York's hospitals are hitting the ground in Houston to help deliver care and save lives. GNYHA salutes their selfless generosity and sacrifice, and is proud to partner with the Governor on this important mission."

"We will go where we are needed," said Dr. Ramon Tallaj, the Chairman of SOMOS, an immigrant-led network of over 2,500 doctors across New York City. "Immigrant doctors were the first line of defense as COVID-19 hit New York's lower-income communities of color and we are determined to share the findings of this ongoing experience with similar communities across the country. We are at the ready to support Governor Cuomo and the State of New York as they assist Houston officials and those across urban and rural areas in the Sun Belt connect Latino, Asian and African American populations to testing, care, health education and community resources. SOMOS doctors conducted the first national research into COVID-19's impact on immigrant communities, and how to best reach and test these populations and we will share best practices with every American that needs them." (damn those immigrants?)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I knew this day would come. I knew that New York would step up when needed to help in any way possible. Despite people here on this site and other forums that I belong to, who criticized and insulted Andrew Cuomo, even sinking as low as referring to him as a 'murderer' should just **** now and know that despite all the hatred and vile that came from the right regarding how this crisis was handled in the NY, the states of New England will always be there to help other Americans, no matter what state they live in and no no matter how nasty and vile they were when New England was in dire straits.

It is good that Cuomo has enough resources to help out another state. Heaven knows he took more than he needed from the federal government.

Andrew Cuomo is attempting damage control because of all of the elderly he sent to die in his own state.

two test sites...even at churches ain’t gonna cut it...his penance for the thousands he sent to their deaths won’t be satisfied by that.

my guess is he’ll be using already positive test to try and make things look worse

    Strange post.

This is the norm bub, mutual aid. Hurricane season sees this on a much larger scale between States, utilities, police, etc.

Look around the next storm, tornado, flood, ice storm. You'll see folks on behalf of other statea representing them all.

What's odd is the self aggrandizing.

BS BS BS S BSBS New York, NewJersey and Connecticut had to get most of their supplies themselves. The Feds were of little help especially at first.
Remember that the Trumpocity said that he was "not the order clerk" . Google that and read it.

So, I'm on a high right now. And I'll probably be crashing down to earth soon, but before I do I wanna say this: I'm sorry to Cuomo and to New York. As it regarded President Trump, I often noted that this was an unprecedented crisis, but if that's true for POTUS Trump, it's also true for Cuomo and true for everyone. We were all new at this.

In all likelihood, Cuomo had no intention of people dying, at the minimum he didn't have an alternative at the time when he got the info. Now, he and the country are better prepared.

No person is totally evil, and no person is totally good either. We're all flawed, unique and special in our own ways. And we have to help each other and be thoughtful and mindful of others. That means wear a mask, stay 6 feet apart and respect people's space.

    then there's this;
Jared Kushner Had One Job: Solve America’s Supply Crisis. He Helped Private Companies Instead.
    https://www.motherjones.com/politic...y-crisis-he-helped-private-companies-instead/

    [snip]
The short-lived Project Airbridge is an example of how the Trump administration has taken advantage of the pandemic to boost some of the country’s biggest companies while doing little more than offer hard-hit states photo ops and the chance to compete against each other to pay exorbitant prices for PPE. And while the project did little to ameliorate national shortages of PPE, it may have a lasting impact on everything from health care costs to the consolidation of corporate power.

The companies involved in Project Airbridge are some of the biggest in the world, including McKesson, Cardinal Health, Medline, and Henry Schein. They are the huge intermediaries of the health care system, distributors of prescription drugs and medical supplies, which they buy from wholesalers and then sell to hospitals, clinics, and government agencies. Yet through Project Airbridge, the Trump administration gave these enormous firms a sweetheart deal free of much if any oversight.

In addition, the Trump administration has refused to disclose how the supplies secured through Project Airbridge were distributed. The administration is “bringing stuff back from China to the United States and then they’re delivering it to private companies in the United States, not to the states,” Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker told PBS NewsHour last month. “They’re letting all of us bid against each other for those goods that are owned by the private companies.” The Washington Post found that many of the areas hardest hit by COVID couldn’t confirm they’d received any supplies via Airbridge and that the supplies that were delivered were a fraction of what the administration had promised. In April, for instance, Vice President Mike Pence claimed the project was delivering 22 million masks a day. The Post found that the number of masks delivered was actually 2.2 million a day.

No Cuomo was fighting for his state as a good governor would not like the jerkoff of Florida. NY did get some supplies but the states with governors who are Trump fans got more than there share. NY, CT, and NJ formed a group and were able to get some supplies thatvway. The Feds were outbidding and in some cases confiscated supplies coming to states. The governor of Maryland a Republican, a classic or as I say a good Republican had to have his state police and his National Guard guard a shipment of supplies from Korea so that Trump could not steal them.

Cuomo had recently sent help to Houston Texas for their surge in cases.
He said it was in response to the help Texas gave NY when NY was in bad shape. Cuomo had promised a few months ago goat NY would help other state out once NY got in good shape.

That is not whining that us being a good governor and a good American and that means putting people first putting America first not party and not a cult leader leader.
