Trump should resist any temptation to launch another ground war under current military leadership, rules of engagement and international law. The brass obviously has contempt for the troops they lead - which is why Bergdahl is walking free.

The USA invades North Korea (NK), then China joins up with NK, then Russia joins in with China. World War 3. There's no solution to NK that doesn't involve WW3 or bowing down to Kim and kiss his ring at the diplomacy table.

And it plays russian roulette in regards to ww3. Therefore much more irresponsible than allowing NK the security they demand from US invasion.

China would have to agree to remain on the side lines in such an invasion, and so far, they are not agreeable to that. Risking SK is insanity, madness, which only the insane and neocons would ever risk. I am hoping trump is sane, regardless of what his haters believe about him. We have had two national guard units deployed to training bases here in my state, which I have only seen on our local news. Are we in the process of training for this invasion? Given the lack of info, who knows? Anyone else see some of their NG units sent to training? But when I start to see the local train track filled with military equipment headed out of the state, will I began to worry about the insanity of DC. As I observed before the invasion of Iraq.

So, how many people here are giddy and excited about the prospects of a NK invasion? Perhaps it is time for a poll? To separate the wheat from the chaff? Gone are the days, like during the vietnam war, when when young men got their dads to pull some strings to get them into the NG in order to get out of being drafted and serving in Nam. Our military is so insufficient in man power now that we rely upon the NG to invade other nations. How large is China's combat ready military now? How about NK? And how willing are both ready to fight on the battlefields? After all, wars cannot be won by air power alone. In a conventional war. How many can china and NK field, and how many can we field? And how much was learned by our enemies in the war we fought in VN? Dropping more tonnage of bombs on north vietnam than in ww2 never stopped those bastards from coming. Our insanity may very well write checks our arses cannot cash. And what if we run out of hispanics and phillipinos as ground troops? What then? I read the other day where 60 percent of volunteers are not from america, and these poor people are joining to get citizenship. We cannot even staff our military today with americans! At least not enough. I think this is the sign of a failing empire as well as insanity in DC.

Yes. Who said "stupid is as stupid does."?

The US has not won a clear final victory in war since 1945 unless you count Granada - and I don't.
Have any of our military adventures over the last 72 years delivered any lasting benefit to the USA and the American people?

The corrupt American political class and its foreign policy elites contrived to give China and ultimately North Korea the nuclear weapons technology and ballistic missile technology needed to deliver a massive attack on the US.

Now they want to launch an aggressive war to eliminate the threat they helped create? What a crock!

Maybe we will get lucky and only get bogged down in a long war with the NKs as opposed to WW3.
Then the anti-war movement will make the 60s riots look like war bond rallies.

Orbital Kinetic Bombardment would solve the problem of NK. And it could be done without breaking any international treaties, laws, and extremely lite direct civilian casualties.

But the gov't would have to be willing to admit (at least upon demonstration) that it exists...

North Korea isn't threatening anybody who isn't threatening them, so just butt out.

Yes, I guess we could move most of SK's population to america. If any are left once NK opens up on them. The SKs would be a benefit for america. Hard workers, and intelligent, and would make us stronger, not weaker.

And yes, if we brought back the draft for a long high casualty war, this would certainly get an anti war movement kicked off, which just might temper future war mongering. And clean out DC of the neocons and the bat poop crazy contingent. Like McCain, and Graham, and their ilk.

A ground invasion is very unlikely. The first problem is that such an invasion takes time and Kim needs very little time to destroy Seoul... just using artillery, never mind nukes.

The second problem is that a ground invasion requires a massive buildup which is ummmm noticeable. Kim is not going to sit by and watch while the US builds up a massive ground invasion force. These ground forces would need to be relatively concentrated at various locations. Kim could easily nuke these forces out of existence.

I am an American. The Clintons, and their corrupt ilk, have represented America for far too long.
Americans, regardless of how they vote have been among the primary victims of their corrupt dangerous leadership.

Only a massive nuclear attack on the NK military could save some of the SK population if war breaks out.

Nor has NK attacked the US. This does not change the fact that N.K. has responded to aggressive talk by the US with aggressive talk.
