Yes, because THAT'S how it works...hahaha
MA banned “assault weapons”. You know what they didn’t do? Confiscate all currently owned “assault” weapons.

    Re:
Since I too, am convinced that many in the "Gun Control" movement will only be satisfied when all private firearms are outlawed, I hope you will please consider the following alteration of a popular admonition:

"First they came for the "assault weapons", and I did not speak out—

Because I did not own an "assault weapon".

Then they came for the handguns, and I did not speak out—

Because I did not own a handgun.

Then they came for the rifles and I did not speak out—

Because I did not own a rifle

Then they came for the shotguns —and then I learned what "common sense" gun control "for the children" really meant."

It's unbelievable what can be done, even if totally illegal, as long as it is done slowly and in small increments.

California has passed a law which has now made some guns already in private ownership illegal. Do you really think the cops wouldn't show up at someone's home and confiscate those guns if they knew about that specific house?

What guns? There's no grandfather law?

It's already happened in New York because the authorities had, by mandatory registration, a list of firearms and their owners.

I'm not automatically doubting you, but do you have a source showing an example? I'd like to read it.

Fair enough. I guess I worded it poorly. I should have said:
With the passage of this law those who did nothing about their now regulated guns are breaking the law. So yes, there was technically a grandfather clause if the owner went and registered their gun. It amounts to forced gun registration.

So, my point again was this: would the cops show up at someone's home and confiscate those guns if they knew about that specific house where the owner failed to register their guns?

How would they know who owns a particular gun? Is there no grandfather clause like in MA?

Because all firearms sales are recorded by the state. At least the legal ones.

Which only matters if those guns aren’t grandfathered.

Which by omission, you left out a very important fact.

Hall was not mentally defective, someone at a hospital mistakenly entered Halls Social Security number into another persons medical record, who did have mental health issues and that got Hall Red Flagged which resulted in Halls firearms being illegally confiscated.

Nice try, but just because something doesn't fit your anti-gun narrative does not give you the liberty to distort facts by omission, however that's SOP for the anti's.

Which as I demonstrated, can lead to confiscation.

Without a way to crosscheck against say a national database they cold not.

Ok, I understand. Has that happened do you know? Or, how likely is that? Yes, it could happen, but have the authorities reached that point? But you're right, in that the more laws they have on the books, the more ways they have to get at you.

I know he wasn't, I read the article, and I knew you knew. I was just tripping on the use of the term 'mentally defective'.
