It's a much better way to go through life than being ready for someone to pop out and rape you any minute.

You had a much higher chance of dying from covid than being the victim of violent crime, but that doesn't stop people who refuse to wear a mask from carrying a gun with them at all times.

    So ignorant.

I'll presume you don't wear seat belts, it's a much better and more comfortable way to go through life. Keep pretending to be Batman.

Such a silly straw man, and me without a match. Do you furnish your home/vehicles with fire extinguishers? How awful you're so fearful of being burned alive or succumbing to smoke inhalation. Do buckle up when you're in the car? Can't imagine why you'd subject yourself to the stress & anxiety of taking precautions against injury or death during a traffic accident. Do you apply Mr. Yuk stickers to common household toxins? That's gotta be some kinda child abuse - forcing your kids to live in fear of ingesting poison.

If you search “defensive gun usage" (DGU) you’ll find it happens anywhere from 500k – 3.5 million times annually (in the US). The raw numbers come from the CDC, most recently from a study ordered by President Obama in 2013.

While injuries and fatalities resulting from those encounters are delineated, peaceful resolutions are not. Depending on who’s digging into the data, DGUs where the weapon is brandished but not fired & no one is hurt occur anywhere from 200k - 1 million times every year. Whatever the actual tally, it’s not insignificant.

When I was an infant we took a day trip to the mountains and stopped at one of my parents’ favorite spots. During our stay a couple bikers rolled in. Dad could tell they were trouble and loaded wife & kid into the car.

During the load up one of the bikers shouted at dad to “hand over summa that slant eyed pu$$y.” Loudmouth wheeled his bike about 4 feet off the back bumper and dismounted. He walked to the driver’s side window and leaned in to find himself looking down the barrel of a .357. He and his compadre saddled up and rode off.

25 years later I owned a 1965 Plymouth Barracuda. One day I towed it to a building where I was going to work on it. As I pulled onto the property there were a couple guys about my age sharing a crack pipe. I rolled down the window and said “Hate to tell you guys, but this is private property and you’ll need to clear off.” They both snarled and cursed. One of them picked up a piece of rebar and both advanced. I let them see my pistol and told them to simmer down. Both men split.

In both instances: no shots fired and nobody hurt.

I couldn't care less that you & your ilk choose to be unarmed - more power to you. I'm even more gratified that you don't get to impose that choice upon me & mine.

Isn't it amazing how the sheep wants everyone to be sheep. They don't like guns so we are supposed to respect that right by not having guns?
They are all anti gun until they survive an attack in their home.

For me, it isn't my FNX 45 that helps me sleep at night. Its my two Australian Shepard's. My own kids won't come over at night if I'm asleep. lol

I'll see your Shephards and raise you a Bouvier. If he's in the car I can leave the keys in the ignition & the phone on the seat. If you can get past him, you're welcome to whatever you can grab. But you'll leave a boatload of DNA behind...

I am a gun owner and have been since my dad let me buy my first rifle a .22 using money I made snow shoveling. I was an NRA member until the idiots turned a fine organization into a political pac. Yes I am a registered Republican but I do not hate my fellow Americans even Democrats just because I have many points of disagreement with them. I do believe that we can restrict who can purchase a rapid fire semi automatic high muzzle velocity rifle ( or carbines). And no that is not a slippery slope. We have serious control/restrictions on ownership of full auto (machine guns for those with a deficiency in weapons terminology). That did not lead to a total gun ban or even a serious restriction. Yes I still have have very strong feelings about the Sandy Hook massacre after all I live 17 minutes from Newtown and I still remember where I was when I heard that news. I condemn both sides, the NRA freakazoids and the crazy bat schiest total gun banners. Common sense tells us that logical legal and sane controls on who can purchase a repaid fire ( semi auto rifle). I find the rhetoric and raw BS of those who CLAIM that they own a dozen or more ARs as could be laughable if it was not so sad that people have the need to make what I believe to be such BS statements in a serious discussion. IMO usually kids stop making up BS stories by age 12.
I am replacing an old .38 revolver with a 9mm S&W semi auto for home defense since arthritis is slowing my grip. Plus I always wanted a S&W.

I have satisfied my need to fire a 5.56 rapid fire weapon ( M-16 even in full auto using bursts) when I served on active duty in the military many years ago.

There will never be ( at least not for 100 years) any confiscation of guns in this country due to the fact that we have more guns than people. Real gun grabbers would be buried by the shear volume of privately held weapons.

A .38 was my EDC forever, until the Mostly Peaceful Riots® a couple years ago persuaded me to replace it with a 9 millimeter with more than twice the firepower. The .38 has been consigned to permanent bedside duty.

Do you think people who own fire extinguishers are 'afraid' of fire?

Trend in Loaded Handgun Carrying Among Adult Handgun Owners in the United States, 2015‒2019

From 2015-2019 American adults who carry a handgun has nearly doubled from 9 million to 16 million. The study only reflects those who carry on their persons, and not in their vehicles.

The most popular carry choice for American CCW holders are semi-autos. That means you're SICK, according to Brandon: "The idea we still allow semi-automatic weapons to be purchased is sick," said Biden. "It has no socially redeeming value… Not a single solitary rationale for it except profit for the gun manufacturers."

True, but a meaningless observation given that the criminal organizations you mentioned are well armed regardless of whether they have a right to be or not, and regardless of whether their victims have a right to be armed or not. Some of those organizations operate in other nations where guns are totally banned. Doesnt seem to hinder them in the slightest. MS-13 operates heavily in El Salvador for example, which has the highest murder rate on the planet and no guns are legal without a difficult-to-obtain permit from the govt. Permits that the heavily armed El Salvadoran MS-13 presumably do not have.

So, ya, its worth celebrating that we have half a chance of defending ourselves from their like here in the US.

He's been asked that question several times & is unable to respond. Intellectual integrity is not in his repertoire. Precautions ≠ fear. It's always a SMH scenario having to explain that to grownups.
