:gun: Guns are a problem. Don't believe me, think for a second, guns bring conflicts to lethality and increase the number of leathal outcomes from a conflict. In other words, working as designed. The problem is that guns make it into the hands of criminals to easily in the US largely from gun lobby supply chains, dealers all about the money, being stolen from homes, and given/sold to criminals by friends and families. Lowering clip numbers or banning certain guns is just cheap political talk. Here are some of my ideas...

    :gun:Goals
    Supply Side Control
Like CAFE standards on Cars, dictate to gun manufacturers how many guns they produce and limit some models.
Limit the number of guns a owner can have.
Limit guns from freely flowing to potential criminals.
Track guns more closely via a tracking method.

    :gun:Ownership Regulations
You may own X number of guns only.
You can put some in your family's names if they are of age I suppose to keep more.
    National Reporting Tool.
Leave room for people to have more than X guns but add a heavy tax of 1000 USD for instance.

    :gun:Responsibility / Rules
You can not exceed X number of firearms as dictated in some way above.
Reporting Tool. You must report status of guns. X times per year.
Reporting Tool. If you sell a gun, you must report it. The other person must report owning it now.
Reporting Tool. You obtain a gun, you are required to report it.
Reporting Tool. Incidents. If a gun is missing, you must report it in the tool within a X period of time.
You must have Guns safely locked up. Special permits may be a way for some to have easier access such as restraining order issues etc.
If you do not report stolen guns, you are commiting a crime (within said X period of time, or for some other valid reason).
If you sell or receive a gun and do not claim it, it is considerd "stolen" on YOUR end.

Outstanding issue, how does one discourage the loop of gun distribution within circles of family / friends without being too harsh. Approval process? A form? Not sure....

Why limit people on how many guns they can have?

I mean seriously, how is that going to prevent a thing?

Progressive leftists are no longer at all shy about exposing their totalitarian aims.
I suspect their Boy King must have given them courage to run their control freak flag up the pole.

That wasn't worded all that great but I mean the "gun sales machine", too many people make money on gun sales. I guess I'm being anti-capitalist, so no worries, it will never change. lol

The wording "brain storm" wasnt that great, nor were the ideas

A lot of that is already in practice, and a lot of it is just dumb.

If a bad guy has 12 guns, is he going to be shooting one with each finger? Nope, he'd have to use two toes, also.

I mean honestly what difference does it make if a person, usually a collector, has 3,12, or 200 guns, public safety wise?

As for safely locked up lets see..

Lone female, home, back door is kicked in. Happens to be my house.
Im in the bedroom door locked, behind the bed, speed dialing 911, shotgun aimed at the door.

He kicks it in; i fire.

Police come, and Im arrested, because the gun obviously wasnt locked up.

Scene two. it is locked up, and im a raped bloody corpse.

You are not helpful. Go away.

taikoo, you forget, they arent concerned with your safety as much as they are forwarding their ideologies. Just look at how the left downplayed the mother in Atlanta that protected herself. They were almost angry she was succesfull.

These suggestions take a lot of freedom from law abiding citizens, but does nothing to reduce the criminal use of guns. Poorly thought out.

How about addressing the number 1 driver of gun violence(after suicide of course), in the failed war on drugs?

I mean you see murder rates spike in Mexico due to the war on drugs, and then want to blame anything other then the war on drugs for our gun violence.

You know if I was making 10,000$ a month holding a street corner, and you tried to come and take it from me, I would probably try to shoot you as well!

The point is to generally reduce the number of guns by forcing down demand. No, it's not "fair" but that is my opinion about changing the gun culture in yankee land.

This is a ridiculus comment. IDK install an alarm system, get a dog, install better locks. BTW, WHERE THE HELL DO YOU LIVE? As I said, if you live in certain areas or have some kind of "high risk" you can apply for permit or somethig....

I can make up scenarios too. How about this, someone softly knocks on your door, what are you going to do, walk up to the door and see what the noise was about, then they put a round in between your eyes. How about this, they wait for you to drive your car into the garage, and by element of surprise, they put the gun to you before yo have a chance to think. How about this, they sneak into your basement, quitely sneak into the room.... etc.

You can keep your gun under the pillow while your are sleeping, but the point is that you need to have some accountability for who touches it. So sure, you can break rules and do so, but if your gun magically ends up in your kids hands at the highschool your are (*)(*)(*)(*)ed.

LOL. Yes. A random story or hear anecdotally proves that guns are good.... So when are you going to pitch an argument ? I mean really just trolling on here is pointless right ?

Same as a random act of violence by a crazy person with guns proves guns are bad?

You wanna argue stats? How about you calculate how many legal gun owners there are and how many of them use guns to commit crime. Then post your answer publicly for all to see. That way I can watch you prove yourself wrong with your own words. I know I know, math and liberalism go together like water and electricity. Thats why you refuse to accept statistics and just go with your "feelings" that guns are bad, and people who have them are "mean" people. Even though the woman in Atlanta as a pure fact used a gun to save herself and her two children. Honestly, I cant even imagine being a man that would even think to try and stop a woman from protecting herself and her two small children. Again, FACT, the woman in Atlanta used a gun to protect herself and her children. That proves beyond any shadow of a doubt to any sane person that a gun in the right hands is also a good thing. In the wrong hands it is bad, thus proving its not the guns that are bad, its the people.

You didnt identify any way that a person having several guns instead of one is a threat to society. Social engineering theory and a meaningless slogan about yankee gun culture is non responsive.

It is not a ridiculous comment, it is a description of something that happens
in nice quiet neighborhoods and in crime ridden ghettos.
Yelling with ALL CAPS is cheap and tacky. I used good locks, and I had an alarm. Im allergic to dogs. Nothing mechanical is foolproof. Anyone who thinks otherwise is invited to engage the safety on a pistol point it at their head and press the trigger.

If someone wants to take unnecessary risks, that is their deal. I dont.

    .

And you have the nerve to say i made a ridiculous comment.

Ive never done that, its another cheap shot from you. And of course a person is accountable for their weapon, be it a kitchen knife, unhinged as your point is from earlier remarks.

    ,

    I dont, Cheap shot again.

    Another unrelated and ridiculous comment.

i guess a blanked out curse word is a change from yelling but not an improvement.

I didnt make up scenarios by the way, there really are intruders, and the defensive posture I described is what the firearms instructor taught us to do in an emergency.

FWIW Im in Hong Kong now with excellent building security, and, a flashlight for a "weapon". :D

This was said about me: " arent concerned with your safety as much as they are forwarding their ideologies" . So when someone talks about me to someone else in MY thread by not responding to me directly, I consider it a real cheap trolling tactic. If you want to say something like that, at least have the nerve to say it to me. I'm going to call them out on it.

There is almost nothing I see here I can respond to. This is about 90% rant. LOL I appreciate your response nonetheless.

See, I understand the point of view you represent. "you need to protect yourself". I can liken it to a forrest fire, you are kind of saying, the fire is burning, we need to control it by starting controlled fires to limit it's growth. I'm asserting that at some point, more fire is just more fire. I think it's hard to discern that, but I have come to the conclusion on my own over a course of several years of reading studies, WHo_Org information and so forth to understand that firearms in general just ratchet up conflicts and bring them to lethal levels. I'm all about turning accountability on the owner of the gun. You leave it on the kitchen table and your son shoots up the school, well, it's on you. If you don't agree with me, that is fine. but I will try to find ways to push this forward. :flame:

PS> The guns don't kill people argument is really logically bad. I would suggest that you come up with something better.

You are creating a rhetorical question for yourself. I am not telling you to even give up guns and you pose it as if I'm Pol Pot. I would like it more if we talked in a more logical sense. If I wanted brainless chatter, I'd log onto my Facebook account. lol

It is a process of lowering the number of guns in circulation which is largely how they end up in the hands of criminals, it limits people who traffic guns, it limits dealers, it changes the culture around guns I think, makes people less cavalier about the guns they own. IDK, i think it's a good idea. Do you really need more than 3 guns ? Maybe there can be clubs you can join where you can go and practice shoot all of the guns you want.

Hong Kong huh? I was there on my way to China. Beautiful city. I like Singapore, didn't need my gun and it felt nice knowing I was generally safe... It tarnished my view of NYC a bit.

If you think guns are the problem, you are spitting in the faces of the countless law-abiding gun owners who never kill anyone and have no desire to do so simply because you prefer to blame the utensil rather than the person with the desire to kill. By your logic, we should all be blaming homosexuality for the Catholic church molestation scandal since virtually all of the victims were male. Clearly it was homosexuality that drove these men to molest these boys since the girls were not in danger. We must crack down on gay control to ensure that such a thing never happens again. Right?
