More people own guns now than ever before, so you might think that accidental and negligent shootings with firearms would be at an all-time high. In fact, the opposite has happened. Yep. Firearm accidental deaths are at the lowest levels ever. Of all accidental deaths, firearms account for 0.3% of that total in 2011.

I support the right to own guns. I would point out, however, that a great number of guns are being purchased by owners who have more than one - so it would make sense that the ratio of accidents would decline - a multiple gun accident would be near impossible.
There will be few posting here that will try to dispute that using source such as MJ, but I have noticed those in the business posting on here are completely in agreement with their observation of your statement... that and there is a vast increase in the diversity of new gun owners and those seeking training.
