More people own guns now than ever before, so you might think that accidental and negligent shootings with firearms would be at an all-time high. In fact, the opposite has happened.
Actually, I am pleased to see ownership spreading, even among groups that have long eschewed firearms ownership.I hope they will learn , and be less influenced by ignorance and propaganda. There has been a growth among the black community , gay community and even (strangely) liberals.

What? More guns does not equal more gun-realted deaths?
    I'm shocked.

    Yep.

Firearm accidental deaths are at the lowest levels ever. Of all accidental deaths, firearms account for 0.3% of that total in 2011.

Of course not. It doesn't fit their narrative so, as always, they will ignore inconvenient fact and continue to make spurious, asinine statements.

I support the right to own guns.

I would point out, however, that a great number of guns are being purchased by owners who have more than one - so it would make sense that the ratio of accidents would decline - a multiple gun accident would be near impossible.

An even greater number of guns are purchased by first time gun owners.

There will be few posting here that will try to dispute that using source such as MJ, but I have noticed those in the business posting on here are completely in agreement with their observation of your statement... that and there is a vast increase in the diversity of new gun owners and those seeking training.
