Instead of going back and forth, I like to mention one thing I haven't but deserves mention. Iran needs to carefully look into its government, its military and those around it, as it is rather clear that the US received advanced notice of Iran was going to be attacking its forces even before the Iraqis passed that information to the Americans. While I suppose its possible that the advance notice came from monitoring Iranian communications and movements, there is a possibility (and not a very unlikely one, given the huge cash offers, i.e. $16 million plus resettlement to the US in case they are about to be caught and subsequently, for anyone who engages in espionage relating to Iran's military activities) that there are elements in Iran who are compromised and tipped the US without authorization. That aspect of American "power" is seldom discussed, but is the one that can have the most influence in a war. For instance, a few years after US forces had toppled Saddam, it became clear that the reason the US didn't encounter any real resistance from the forces Saddam had positioned to defend his capital was because their officers had been contacted via their cellphone by CIA agents such as Ilyad Alawi (appointed as 'interim prime minister of Iraq" by the Americans) and persuaded to leave their posts and not resist US forces entering Baghdad. Those Iraqi officers were, in turn, paid handsomely and many were resettled to other countries.

the Iranian people don't deserve the hardship of a war, they have suffered enough under the rule of these 17th century tyrants. They should just toss them out of the government and start over with no input from the West.
