I looked for an already started thread but found none so, Happy 420. I thought it might make a good opportunity to discuss legalization. Now I don't personally use but I know this guy... He smoked, somewhat regularly, some 30 years ago. It was mostly a social thing with a group of friends. Nothing big. Nothing serious. Eventually he gave it up. No real reason. Just not interested. Now as this guy got older he began to suffer from the infirmaries bought on by years of football (single bar helmet), basketball (old style when the lane was owned by the D) and other physically difficult activities. Today this guy's spine is described as "kind of shredded" with only 4 of his vertebrae not showing some kind of damage. He's got "chronic separation" of both shoulders as well as pain from various injuries over the years. There's really not a minute of any day that he's not in pain. Over the last several years this guy has been prescribed as many as 9 doses of opioid painkillers per day to deal with the pain. In return the guy also had to deal with the side effects of the opioids. It was not fun. Then, about a year ago, this guy decided to try pot for the pain. He has, since then, taken a total of 8 pills. Indica 22% or higher works best for the pain. Smoked about an hour before bed and then eat an infused hard candy while going to bed and there's enough relief to sleep through the night without the side effects of the opioids. He is happy with the results but wants to try some CBD oil/creams to see if direct application might improve symptoms during the day. Sure this tale is anecdotal but it leads to my question. Whether at the state or federal level what is the societal value of keeping pot illegal for adults over 21?
Werd. We should be fully legal by next year. be curious to see how that plays into Mr.Sessions ideas of reigniting the war on drugs
It should be legal. If Trump has any sense, he will keep Sessions on leash when it comes to weed. If he has great sense, he will do something for legalization. Trump would be politically unstoppable.
I hope to see it legal in my country before my time is up. Alcohol and tobacco are legal and they are much worse drugs.
Yes, I often wondered who decided that marijuana is so evil, while alcohol and tobacco are okay. Rather silly. If you are an adult, it should be your decision what you do with your body, as long as you aren't hurting anyone else in the meantime.
Easiest way to do it is to say you can grow no more than two plants for your own personal use, to consume in your own home. Anyone caught growing more can be prosecuted. No need for big business taking over the production and selling, police can spend their time looking into real crimes because there wouldn't be the need for illegal growers and suppliers anymore.
Sorry I'm late to the party but I'll fire up to that....Ironic isn't it that well give up freedom to the point that we'll let someone tell us we can't grow a common plant...?
Look what happens when it does become legal, big business takes over and many people become richer, two guys became millionaires collecting seeds from various places around the world. There would be no need for big business if every single person interested in trying, enjoying or medicating with it, could grow their very own for their very own purpose, not to profit from but maybe share with friends. Many people around the world make their own alcohol because they like their 'brew' better or because they can make it cheaper than big businesses. Alcohol is legal in most places around the world, how many times do you hear about a drunk driver causing an accident or killing someone... we don't hear a highly intoxicated cannabis driver caused a horrific crash. A drunk person has no thought process happening, a cannabis user does, he or she is gonna want to be comfy in their own home chilling!!
Why not both? Businesses supplying quality product at a reasonable price to people who want to but and people being allowed to grow limited quantities for their own use. Given the social costs of prohibition and the social ills that can be addressed by ending prohibition what social need does the state or federal prohibition against marijuana serve?
Which all rather disproves the theory that exercise is beneficial? Couch potatoes, the world is yours!
Are they busting people for private possession and personal use? Anyone live where it still happens? I don't mean people dumb enough to smoke in a car or in public. Moi r > g
