Once every couple of years the olympics rolls around and it floods our tv screens with boredom(unless you like it of course). But it also reminds me of what is happening to 9/11 anniversaries. They seem to get longer and more intricate each year. Especially this year, its actually sickening to see how much they can try to milk this for tv ratings....opps was i not supposed to say that?

Honestly, it was a tragedy, but bringing back the memory every year forever(we can't forget it remember!) is almost like bringing a cancer patient back every year to the exam room where he was diagnosed. This kind of stuff sickens me, we all know it happened, do we really need to be reminded for two weeks before?

Let's just stop remembering it, please? What happens when theirs another terrorist attack, does it deserve its own two week tv special on 3 major channels? When does the guilt end? Surely the 9/11 survivors would much rather try to get over it than make it go on another 50 years til they die.

I agree. It's been flogged to death here as well. Been on the news and in the papers for about a week now. It's beyond ridiculous.
I doubt the papers here will devote much time to the 10 year anniversary of the Bali Bombings, and the American media won't even bother to mention it - which is not surprising, considering they have to google it because they don't know what happened.

We aren't even allowed to call it an "Islamic terror attack" thanks King Obama and his legions of leftists drones. I think the official term nowadays is "man-made disaster" or some other ridiculous phrase.

We should remember 9/11 to remember that we do have an enemy, and that enemy is known as radical Muslims.

The left just calls them "friends", however.

If you don't like the fact that Americans are remembering the 10th anniversary of the worst terrorist attack on US soil then turn off the TV, radio or trash the paper.

As for the Bali bombings, why should the US media dwell on an act committed against Australians and Indonesians?

if it pains you to see it ,then change the channel,or stop reading the papers.
We cant just sweep it under the rug like Pearl Harbor because we are not in danger of Japan sending kamikazees into our Navy ships, but we are still in danger of terrorists blowing themselves up in our cities. Its easy for someone to say they can forget it if they were not affected personally ,not losing a loved one in the tragedy.I had just barely entered basic training when it happened and I was eager to finish so we could go (*)(*)(*)(*) up the people that were responsible. They attacked my country,I was pissed,I took it very personal and I will never forget.Sorry, but for some of us,its just not that easy.

These poor leftists overseas, having to hear about 9/11. I mean, right in the middle of their favorite sitcom. Sometimes they can't find the remote control. Man, I really feel for them!

For the same reason the Australian media prattles on about an act committed against Americans?

We were all very aware of the Bali bombing by our mutual enemy. I mourned the 88 Australians killed.

If you do not understand the gravity... if you cannot weigh the losses and understand the depth... that a city was decimated... that thousands of people were murdered...

Well... you know where you can go?

    Pretty much.

As awful as 9/11 was... it was not the holocaust. I guess I should be annoyed when all those annoying jews prattle on about it... I'm not Jewish... why should I care... right?

I have no lack of sympathy or deep sorrow for all those who were involved in that attack, and I recognize the need to keep alert and vigilant about it for the future, but honestly, this continuation of constant mourning is getting old.

Frankly, I was far more shocked by this generations inability to deal with it any better than that. What the heck is wrong with people now that they want to wallow in a tragic event over and over again? Why don’t we celebrate good things in life? Why is it more appealing to over dramatize a bad event? It seems to me that Americans are over indulgent in coddling each other like a bunch of big babies, and we need to learn to grow up and live life, not death.

In a way I see the same problem with the GIs coming back from the war fronts, they are having a lot worse time readjusting to normal life than they did in past generational wars. There was no special counseling for soldiers who came back from ‘Nam & WWII, they just had to learn to deal with it. Now, it’s like the ultimate excuse to quit living. Shameful.

    I disagree, arandomname

The 9-11 ceremonies serve to remind us how fortunate we are to live in a great and wonderful country like America. These ceremonies are meant to remind us of the tremendous sacrifices and hardships our parents and grandparents had to endure to give us the privileges and opportunities and the magnificent standard of living we enjoy today.

These ceremonies are meant to remind us of the tremendous sacrifice the passengers of United Airlines Flight 93 made to save their fellow countrymen and prevent the very determined 9-11 terrorists from flying the fourth airplane into the U.S Capitol building or the historic White House.

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

These ceremonies are not so much for our benefit, but for the benefit of our children and grandchildren so they too will realize what a privilege it is to be an American and enjoy the freedoms and liberties and opportunities that are denied to so many people who live and merely exist today in other parts of the works.

    You are very correct, Brewskier.

for some reason the liberals in our group and the members of the far Left have a difficult time distinguishing between "Muslims" and radical, hateful "Muslims". In their feeble minds they are all simply "Muslims".

if its not it should be. first for the perps then for a country that did nothing about it.

well more precisely used it to attack people 1/2 way around the globe rather than bringing the perp to justice.

What country creates a holiday to celebrate a massive defeat?

We already have a remembrance day. 9/11 should NOT be a holiday.

We should just write it off... get over it...

I swear some of you are sociopaths.

I just wanted to point out also that the Bali bombing didn't happen on Australian soil.

That day changed the world, irrevocably. Honoring the dead is what we do. Get over it. Plug in the xbox... whatever... whining about it is gross. You guys are gross.
