It's November 2011, and we are suppose to "fall back" right?(at least in America, not sure about other countries) and in turn, it's suppose to be darker in the mornings around 6am(Texas time) or wherever you are. but strangely, all through October and now in November, mornings here in Texas are almost full sun. it's not dark at all like it's been in years past. I know this, because I used to throw newspapers and it was pitch black during this time of year at 6am. SO WEIRD. :omg:

    as anybody else noticed this?

you have it backward. it is lighter in the morning. you might just be having heavier cloud cover in the morning than you did last year.

Right. When you "fall back" you go from what was 6 am...to 7am. Thus lighter.

I hate that it starts getting dark around 5pm now..

that's not falling back. going from 6am-7am is springing forward.

when you "fall back" you turn your clock backwards. 6am-5am.

I know what I'm talking about because I used to throw papers for 6 years.

It was lighter earlier this year.

I have to be at my job at 7:30am and I have yet to have a "dark" morning. all spring and summer it was lighter in the mornings. and it got darker later too.

daylight savings time pertains to "shorter" days in the fall. dark in the morning and darker early in the evenings.

    from wiki:

In a typical case where a one-hour shift occurs at 02:00 local time, in spring the clock jumps forward from the last moment of 01:59 standard time to 03:00 DST and that day has 23 hours, whereas in autumn the clock jumps backward from the last moment of 01:59 DST to 01:00 standard time, repeating that hour, and that day has 25 hours. A digital display of local time does not read 02:00 exactly at the shift, but instead jumps from 01:59:59.9 either forward to 03:00:00.0 or backward to 01:00:00.0. In this example, a location observing UTC+10 during standard time is at UTC+11 during DST; conversely, a location at UTC−10 during standard time is at UTC−9 during DST.

Its spring time here and we went forward in time a couple months ago. It was dark in the mornings but now, as it is getting closer to summer, the mornings are getting brighter. The sky is slightly lightened at 5.30am but it takes about an hour for the sun to come out.

That would make sense since you guys are half way around the world from America.

but here in the Southern region of America(Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, etc...) always have those "dark" mornings in the fall.

    like this:

which is why I'm so confused. in the spring is when our mornings are almost full sun shining bright by 6am

What was, before you fell back, 7 am is not 6 am so 6 am now is just as light as 7 am was before DST. Of course in another month it will be dark at 6 am because the days will be shorter.

Don't you know that the days are longer and the nights shorter in the spring? LOL.

Hmm...it was warm today, and it'll be warm tomorrow. Can I blame that on global warming, too? ;)

Sure. Headache, flat tire, bad hair day, constipation. I blame them all on global warming.

Get better! In the meantime, blame it on Al Gore, the inventor of global warming.

Well I have most of the week off work so that should be enough. I feel like I've been hit by a truck. :(

I was hoping I could blame it on George Bush, though. And Tony Blair.

Green tea with honey. A shot of brandy before bed. You'll be right as rain before you know it.

I reserve blaming Bush for when one of my spaniels has an accident. And when a bird poops on my car Blair gets the blame. He's definitely a bird poop type of guy.

    It's the same as always.

Fall back, means we turn the clock back an hour. If you used to wake up at 7 am, that became 6 am in "standard time."

You are thinking about what happens in spring.

you've got everything confused. Fall back means you set the clock back an hour. That means it will be bright earlier. Fall back is when you get the extra hour of sleep. Spring forward is when you lose an hour of sleep, but gain an hour of useful daylight.

I guess I'm just tripping mentally because I always remember it being darker in the fall mornings at 5:30-6am for some reason.
