I must say I always thought they were extremists, that they seemed to believe that James 2nd was going to descend from a black helicopter and put everyone in a concentration camp unless the average American was able to buy an AR15 over the counter. I have to say since the BLM riots started they have a point, we see that the American people cannot rely on the police or military to defend them in the their homes and that in response to anarchy and rioting large sections of the US government's reaction is to blame people who used their guns to defend themselves rather than those who are attacking them. A great many people have decided to 'vote with their feet' (or dollars) with record gun sales, a figure I think will be a lot more significant in the election than any poll.

My opinion of the NRA hasn't changed. Our right to keep and bear arms is more important now than ever, and as long as there are forces openly determined to abolish and even criminalize that right, we need a powerful lobby to protect it.

The supreme court has ruled that police have no duty to protect anyone other than themselves. Your self defense is your own responsibility. Be wary of anyone who claims to the contrary.

It hasn't changed. I supported them before, and I support them now. I think it is absurd to rely on other people for your own defense and well being. Police do great work, but they don't have teleporters to be able to get to crime scenes fast enough to prevent them. They are there to deal with the aftermath and secure criminals after the crime has taken place.

If it's taught is anything, it's that the same alt left radicals that ask the question "Why do you need guns? That's what we have police for!" are the same idiots wanting to get rid or defund the police.

So what the NRA has proven, is that the Democrats have officially gone insane.

And if we defund them, their response times to crimes/murders will be even longer. We're see this in the liberal paradises of Seattle, Portland, Chicago...etc. I try not to miss the Chicago Police Chief press conferences. It's one big contradiction every single time.

The last 6 months goes a long way to demonstrably and concretely nullify the left's arguments for more gun control.

I've never had a high opinion of them, but that is based on their national public persona. I tend to think of them the same way I think of the anti-gun groups. Tone deaf and unwilling to budge, which essentially means neither advances the conversation.

On a local level, they sponsor a lot of hunting and shooting events and I have no problem with that.

~ My opinion has changed in that I see the 2nd Amendment differently. It is much more important that the right of private citizens to keep firearms remains unobstructed. NRA as an important group to protect the 2nd Amendment.

My opinion has not changed. I think the NRA leadership are a bunch of wimps who don't do enough to defend the Second Amendment and gun ownership. They need a bunch more guys like Ted Nugent.

I am second generation Life Member of the NRA.

Since the left is all about comparing conservatives to Hitler, then refute this.

Hitler, one of the first things he did was confiscate guns from citizens, the 2nd thing, is defund/disband local police,

What has Biden and Harris actually said, words out of there own mouths, they want to confiscate guns (with flowery words like mandatory buyback) Biden said he will put The Pretend Latino Beto (remember Biden thought he was Latino) as his gun control czar, Beto said "hell yes, we are coming for your guns". Should we believe what they say or not? They also want to "re-imagine" police, whatever the hell that means. Won't be good for law and order I guarantee you.

The NRA is the best friend in the world right now if you want to live free. Any democrat that owns a gun to protect their loved ones, will get exactly what they deserve if they Vote Biden in, I can see it now "but, you are taking my gun? but, but, but, I'm one of the good guys" "why didn't anyone warn us?"

I generally support the second amendment and generally loathe the NRA's existence. There are other groups.

Over time the NRA has grown more corrupt and manipulative. Spewing propaganda to frighten the public into buying guns while being funded by the gun manufacturers. The members need to walk away and start a new organization if they want.
BTW 2 A needs repealed. The loss of life does not equal its utility.

It's funny that you would dispute the black helicopters. I once recruited for a civilian militia. One time they sent me out with a recently discharged Army Ranger. We met the potential recruit at a local Waffle House. "Troll" (the former Ranger) had brought two large bags with him. So we sit down and the potential recruit says something to the effect that he doesn't want people telling him about black helicopters. Troll reaches into his bags and begins taking out some picture albums with clear pics of unmarked helicopters then pictures of the men in them. Each page gets closer and closer until you see Troll. Then he says "that's me." After sufficient pictures, he shows us his jump record (each jump is recorded) along with the awards he had. Yep. People even have a hard time accepting the truth. That recruit? Still militia after ... what around 20 years give or take.

Oh, you're still on here? Well we all have problems with certain amendments, like 14 A giving citizenship to the slaves. Huh?

And you still support slavery. How do you justify doing that? Slavery is acceptable provided it's not white people as slave owners.

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/16263/china-slave-labor-nike

I'd bet if we took all the products in your house that were MADE IN CHINA, I can fit the balance of what you own into your bathroom... and China is 98 percent PLUS one race. You buy stuff made in a racist country? And you are going to call me a racist ? I never owned a slave in my life and I don't support it. You do. And don't worry. I will be silenced soon enough. Yeah, we all know that there mechanisms working behind the scenes to make sure you don't have to face real debate. But, go ahead with the accusations. I'm not the one spending my money on products made by slave labor.

Interesting. You use the First Amendment to advocate for repeal of the Second Amendment.

My opinion has long been that the NRA is just running interference between total civilian disarmament and a the right to bear arms. They compromise too much, but they may be responsible for having prevented a civil war thus far with that compromise.

I do think the recent failures of (primarily leftist) governments to protect law abiding citizens from hordes of criminals has done irreparable damage to their own agenda of disarmament as more folks realize their security really is ultimately in their own hands and no one else's. The police stand-downs have advanced American individualism in a few months more than the NRA has been able to in decades.

Read: Effective at debunking the falsehoods of the anti-gun left.
The NRA does no such thing because it doesn't need to - the patent and insane reaction by Democrats to any and every gun-related crime that hist the nation news does it for them.
That is, nothing sells guns better than a Democrat promising to ban and confiscate guns.
More of your usual unsupportable nonsense.

I've always supported the NRA, the 2nd Amendment as well as the rest of the Bill of Rights.
Recent events such as BLM mobs tormenting our citizens and burning our cities with impunity has only hardened my resolve to preserve our 2nd Amendment as it has become more clear that the police cannot and / or will not protect you, your family or your neighborhood.

There used to be a saying that: "When seconds count, the police are only minutes away." However, today it's more like "When seconds count, you're still on your own."

You're walking down the street at night, make a wrong turn, and find yourself facing 3 thugs, who demand your wallet, watch, and, one says, your ass.
Where is the closest first responder, how far away is he, and how long will it take him to get there?
