Dozens of doctors cannot figure out why Linnie bleeds from her eyes and tongue, uncontrollably and without warning. "When it bleeds, it doesn't hurt. It's what leads up to the bleeding," says the 24-year old Waikele woman, "I'll feel pressure on my eyes, my eyes will be puffy and raw and that's when I know my eyes are going to bleed." http://www.msnewsnow.com/story/29059085/hawaii-woman-who-bleeds-from-eyes-is-desperate-for-answers There are many rare diseases out there that the medical community does not even have a name for, and that they have no idea how to treat. Just because doctors cannot give a diagnosis does not mean something is not wrong. That must be really scary knowing something is wrong, but not knowing what is causing it. Although individually, a "rare disease" is by definition quite rare (it affects fewer than 200,000 persons), the number of different rare diseases is so numerous that, combined, rare diseases actually account for a fairly high percentage of the total number of people suffering from diseases out there. It is estimated that over 30 million people in the United States are living with diseases that are considered "rare".
Oh, sorry, the woman with the bleeding eyes is not in the video. Sorry if that was misleading or confusing to you. Here is someone else with bleeding eyes: A girl who bleeds spontaneously has baffled Indian doctors Looks like these two people may have the same rare disease, even though doctors have been unable to diagnose it. Here is a video of the girl with bleeding eyes (not in english, but the video is pretty graphic).
