Health Insurance Deductibles Up 212 Percent Since 2008

    The American healthcare system was broken long before Obama and neither party did anything to fix it. Obama tried because he knew Republicans would do nothing. And now that Trump has been elected the Republicans have done nothing except making the system even worse.

    There are only two valid ways to evaluate the American system. Cost of US healthcare as a percent of GDP and results compared to other systems. America has failed on either score since way before Obama.

    Well, part of that is because of HSA's, which are only allowed with high deductible plans. Many of us choose high deductible plans so that we can get HSAs. I had a choice between getting a regular plan without an HSA for about the same prices as a high deductible plan with an HSA (including the HSA deduction). Hoping that I don't need to use it, so I can increase the value of my HSA for the future. Not really working as well as planned, but I think I ended up saving some money on healthcare.
