'Finally some good news out of Chicago.City police are getting ready to recover their 6,000th stolen firearm this year – that’s nearly 300 more than were recovered at this time last year's' 'to prevent new guns from ending up on the street, Johnson told WGN9 last month that he would like to see a law which allows officers to track handguns after a citizen makes the purchase. Additionally, he told CBS Chicago that he’d like to see stricter penalties for gun owners who fail to report their firearm lost or stolen.' Personally, I think this is an admission of the total failure of the law , politicians and courts 'to reduce violent crime, we are going to focus on the law abiding citizens' really?? It should be illegal to not report a lost/stolen gun? How, exactly do you enforce this? "When did you report your gun going missing" "Just now" "Why didn't you report is sooner? "I just found out" / prosecution
Yeah that's your average gun control supporter. Press charges against the guy that had his gun stolen? Absolutely. Press charges against the guy in possession of the stolen gun? Prisons are too full.
It is now in California. Be the original purchaser of an unregistered AR15? Felony. Steal that AR15 and be in possession of it? Misdemeanor.
Typical liberal response. BTW the shift towards semi-auto's is really striking and so are the tactics.
There should be stiffer penalties for idiots who can't or won't secure their Firearms ... Not even God will help the SOB who tries to take my Guns.
One can secure their privately owned property against the act of theft only to a certain extent. There are physical, practical, and economic limitations that simply cannot be overcome. Beyond such, it is misguided to place blame on those that are ultimately the victims of crime, arguing that they simply did not do enough to avoid becoming a victim in the first place.
A friend of mine was a very successful contractor, who invested a great deal of money in securing his firearms. Top dollar safe, lag-bolted to a concrete slab. Thieves broke in and used an air-hammer to chisel out the lagbolts, through a chain around the save and used a truck to drag it out through the wall. They drove down the road about a quarter of a mile before stopping to finish loading the safe into the truck, and then disappeared. Long story short: if a criminal is motivated he will figure out how to get what he wants.
Our friends on the left would hold your friend criminally responsible if any of those guns were used in a crime.
If you have a fully automatic weapon for example, and someone is able to steal it from you, you should be held criminally responsible.
What penalties should be assessed to those among LE that have guns stolen from their vehicles, storage, or other means of care?
the statement made by yourself is devoid of anything resembling sound logic. Which would result in them no longer being able to be employed as law enforcement officers either. If they cannot legally own a firearm, in the untied states they cannot legally possess a firearm, even for employment reasons. They would either need to be terminated as law enforcement officers, or told to enforce the law in an unarmed capacity.
The responsibility should befall solely on the criminal individual to not engage in criminal behavior to begin with.
I see, you carefully read my post and answered affirmatively to it. OK then. I stand in awe of your intellect.
