Is it strange this is happening in Texas? What are their chances? What would the media reaction be if this was someone from the alt-Right running on the GOP ticket?

Well, the alt right think that millions of people are subhuman because of their skin color and want to form an ethnostate, and these lads here just want to give people free **** at the very worst, so your comparison is ****

We are in dire need of a democratic socialist opposition party to this oligarchy fascism. The democrat party once served this function. The democratic socialist party went away in large part thanks to bill clinton who set out to destroy the party of FDR.

But let us not confuse the DS party with a real deal socialist party. Not the same animal.

But but but I thought it was the liberal and progressive Democrats who say that some races and ethnicities can't compete in the cruel mean world and have to become a protected group given special protections, special rights, privileges and free stuff the level the playing field.

    That sounds pretty racist.

That is what socialism does, but not democratic socialism. This system just uses capitalism as an economic model to finance a Commons. An expanded Commons, yes, but still a Commons.

Socialism the real kind, and capitalism still creates a richer elite class at the top. But capitalism has a middle class, although the size of that middle depends upon what kind of capitalism is being used. We have seen both kinds. One created a history making middle class, while the current kind destroys it. Nuance is very important when it comes to capitalism.

As always, look to the source.

This is BS that happens EVERY election and particularly it's done by one or the other Republican national level outlets. "cough"'cough" Fox News They cherry pick some of the Dems most radical candidates, NONE whom will even make a credible primary showing, and then act as if the Democrats are suddenly channeling Uncle Joe, Marx and Mao. The idea is so the more brain dead voters will say, "All the Dems are commies, I can't vote for even this one local guy who was endorsed by God himself"

The one thing that keeps the Republicans going is the old saying "No-one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public"

Are you saying that someone can't pick themselves up by the bootstraps and give it another try in life ?

you understand that "to pick oneself up by one's bootstraps" was coined as a term to describe an impossible course of action, yes?

No, I'm not ****ing with you. Think about what the phrase literally says. You can't pick yourself up by your bootstraps, they're attached to you.

Without poverty the Democratic party wouldn't have a platform to run on.

Exactly. I'll take the Socialists over the National Socialists we've seen join the GOP lately.

Nor would the Republicans, .Dems want to end it and Republicans seek to perpetuate it.

Exactly, Socialists may (or may not) be very wrongheaded and have killed millions in misguided attempts but at least they SAY they mean well for people. Nazis make no bones about the fact that they are entirely out to kill and enslave everybody but themselves. They promote the worst in humanity, they worship evil. It's sort of hard to see how they can ever succeed in a democracy or republic. "Vote for me, I'll kill you "

Socialists are a mixed bag, especially historically. Nazis, not so much.

    Cultural-marxism revisionist history.

It's obvious you didn't get the word.

"In 1964 the famous War on Poverty was declared and a funny thing happened. Poverty, as measured by dependency, stopped shrinking and then actually began to grow worse. I guess you could say, poverty won the war..."

The percentage in poverty has declined steadily since the 1960's. Cultural Marxism is yet another non-existent bogeyman the right uses to justify their authoritarianism

Naziism by it's nature tolerates little dissent. Socialism invites it, at least theoretically

Baron Munchausen's most well-known tale. It means to succeed starting with nothing, not to accomplish the impossible though both can seem the same "Self-made man" is better, IMO

We also know that the left wing tends to be better educated than the right wing, so it stands to reason, really. Socialists are intellectuals and welcome dissent, as you say, whereas Nazis are more in line with religious conservatives.
