According to this story in the Picayune Item, gun shop owner Jason McClemore, and his son, 17-year-old Jacob McClemore, were killed after an argument over a $25 bill for a gun repair escalated into a shootout. They were killed while exchanging fire with 29-year-old Michael McCool and his father, 52-year-old Audy McCool who themselves were wounded and were transported to nearby hospitals. Police at the time of this report hadn’t filed charges.

So who is the “Good Guy With A Gun” in the situation? Mississippi is one of the states with a “Stand Your Own Ground” defense. Here’s what I found on this Justia web site in regards to Mississippi use of defensive force law:

A person who uses defensive force shall be presumed to have reasonably feared imminent death or great bodily harm

    and

A person who is not the initial aggressor and is not engaged in unlawful activity shall have no duty to retreat before using deadly .

Do you enjoy using the deaths of others so you can desparage gun owners?

Why aren't you reporting on the tally for last night in Southside Chicago? A lot more death to make your point.

Yep, 45 confirmed kills in Chicago for the year so far. He''ll have to wait awhile for another so called right wing example. We will only have wait minutes to hours for the Chicago box score to go up.

Here is a right winger hero doing what right wing hero's do best. At least she had a legal firearm, a permit and an equalizer.

She was the good person with the gun....no question about it, eh?

    The great equalizer

Police: Woman, 65, shoots would-be robber in chest

Manchester police said the woman, who did not want to be identified, told them that she shot the man when he tried to grab her while she was trying to get into her apartment building. She said the man had been in a car that followed her into the parking lot of her apartment complex, police said.

Police identified the man as Michael Bontaites, 23, of Manchester. He was treated for a serious but not life-threatening chest wound at Elliot Hospital.

Police said the woman left work and stopped at the Mobil on the Run gas station on South Willow Street around 11:30 p.m. She told police that a car pulled up quickly behind her at a traffic light and that she became concerned when it followed her into the parking lot at her apartment complex on South Porter Street.

She said she tried to park as close to the building as possible, but the car parked near her.

After she left her car, she heard another vehicle door close and heard someone approaching her quickly from behind, police said.

"Something in my head said to take the gun out of my purse," the woman told News 9.

With her hand on the gun now in her coat pocket, she told News 9 that she headed toward her apartment. She said she looked behind and saw a man following her.

The woman told police that a white man wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt ran past her and blocked her path.

"Ten feet from the front stairs. That's when he caught up to me, and he came around me and stood right in front of me. Right in my face," she said.

The woman told News 9 that the man yelled at her.

She said he reached out and tried to grab her, but she pulled her handgun from her pocket and shot him once in the chest at close range.

"But then when I saw him reach his left arm out to try and grab me, that's when I pulled the gun out and I shot him," she said.

Investigators said the woman, described as 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing 105 pounds, feared for her safety and has a valid concealed carry permit. Bontaites is described as 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds.

Police said the man fell to the ground while the woman ran inside the building. The man called 911 while he was on the ground.

"As soon as I shot him, he immediately fell to the ground," the woman said.

Investigators said a woman in the dark sedan helped the man off the ground and brought him into the car while yelling at the 65-year-old grandmother, "got to get him to the hospital" before the car sped off.

The woman ran into the building and called 911. As officers were responding to the call, another Manchester police officer saw Bontaites at the Elliot Hospital Emergency Room.

Bontaites was charged with felony robbery and was arraigned Tuesday from his hospital bed. He is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 14.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.

The woman told News 9 that she had a valid concealed permit through the Manchester Police Department for more than 10 years.

"Last night was the first time I ever shot that gun in all the time I've owned it," she said.

99.99772% of the guns in the US were not used to commit murder, 2014.
That is, for every gun used to commit a murder yesterday, 16.4 million were not.

Not only do you not know who drew first, you do not know why it matters.

Noting here does anything to change the fact that your straw man is an argument from ignorance.

Statistics on Gun Deaths & Injuries
    Posted on November 16, 2012
Law center to prevent gun deaths

"In 2010, guns took the lives of 31,076 Americans in homicides, suicides and unintentional shootings. This is the equivalent of more than 85 deaths each day and more than three deaths each hour.1

73,505 Americans were treated in hospital emergency departments for non-fatal gunshot wounds in 2010.2

Firearms were the third-leading cause of injury-related deaths nationwide in 2010, following poisoning and motor vehicle accidents.3

Between 1955 and 1975, the Vietnam War killed over 58,000 American soldiers – less than the number of civilians killed with guns in the U.S. in an average two-year period.4

In the first seven years of the U.S.-Iraq War, over 4,400 American soldiers were killed. Almost as many civilians are killed with guns in the U.S., however, every seven weeks.5"

Nothing here does anything to change the fact that your straw man ins an argument from ignorance.

    US:
    356,000,000 guns, 8124 gun-related murders;
Proportion of gun in the US not used to commit murder: 99.99772%

    UK
3,400,000 guns, 41 gun related murders
Proportion of guns in the UK not used to commit murder: 99.9988%

    Difference: 0.00168%
That is, none. Any gun in the UK is just as likely to be used to commit a murder than any gun in the US.

Your argument, whatever it is, negated.

It's a classic case of confirmation bias. Great Britain is an exception to the rule. If he bothers to expand his research, he's going to find that the US, in spite of having by far the highest rate of guns per person (88.8 per 100), is only 28th in the world in gun murders per 100,000 people (2.97) and that the 5 countries with the highest gun murder rates (averaging at about 44 per 100,000) have an average gun ownership rate that's only 10% of the US. That means that the most dangerous countries on earth for gun murders have 90% fewer private arms in circulation while killing 15 times as many people!

More Americans killed by guns since 1968 than in all U.S. wars, columnist Nicholas Kristof
