The candidates should be getting a fairer shot in the primary process in 2020, with the DNC having scheduled double the amount of debates. Yet, because of the vast amount of candidates, still not everyone will get a spot on the stage. The committee's new criteria for debate participation asks for candidates to reach a certain threshold in either polling or grassroots fundraising. Only the top 20 will make it and if necessary, the debate will be stretched to two nights. “We’ve spent months working with media partners to provide this unprecedented opportunity for candidates and voters to get to know each other,” DNC Chair Tom Perez said. “Because campaigns are won on the strength of their grassroots, we also updated the threshold, giving all types of candidates the opportunity to reach the debate stage and giving small-dollar donors a bigger voice in the primary than ever before.” It was revealed on Thursday that NBC News, MSNBC and Telemundo will be hosting the first Democratic presidential primary debate in June 2019......snip~ https://townhall.com/tipsheet/cortn...-their-criteria-for-the-2020-debates-n2541547 Not surprising, huh. Got to get MSDNC in there, Right? Besides CNN is at the bottom of the barrel. What say ye?
The debates are not truly debates. They are formatted more like beauty pageants. I remember one debate where candidates were questioned with the same questions individually. That led to more fairness in time to answer questions. Suggest such a format, edited. Question "A" is asked of each candidate individually and that video is then edited in for each candidate before the next question. AND PLEASE MAINTAIN SECURITY OF QUESTIONS FROM THE DNC. Moi
Only one Democrat candidate will get the questions to be asked in advance at the debates, just one and it's the DNC and CNN who makes the decision.
Rachael Maddow won't go for that. Besides the Demo Candidates must meet with Al Sharpton to kiss his ring and he is on MSDNC.
That can't happen. Demos must find a way to cheat. Even against their own kind. Just ask Bernie Sanders.
Happened to Ron Paul, M.D. also. Up there on the stage, ignored. Cheating is bipartisan. But, the GOP couldn't out cheat Trump as Bernie was by the DNC. Amazingly, the GOP is more Democratic. Who would have thunk it Lower percent of Super Delegates! Moi
I'm hopeful the absolute thrashing they got in '16 combined with a Blue Wave in '18 after letting the populist wing run free taught them their lesson about trying to engineer the election. If they didn't this will be a shitshow, if they did, we'll see lively debate and a strong contender in '20.
No there is no chosen candidate this year. The liberal medial loves Harris, but I think she is going to wilt.
I wish Fox would host it as well. Let's get past having Left and Right media outlets, get back to true Fair and Balanced.
media partners , meaning all the ones spreading fake news for several years (decades) to 'assist' them and disparage the repubs... nice of 'em to admit finally...
I do too. I want to see the Demo Chris Wallace grill them and see what lame excuse they come up with while blaming Wallace for being Republican.
It appears he has more with the DNC and their Socialists of America. Plus CUSA that infiltrated the Demo Party. Plus there is all that History with the Demos and the Russians. Maybe the New Kennedy can give them a call in 2020. Like Teddy did when Reagan ran.
Doubtful any of the pack would want to be on a debate on Fox. They wouldn't get questions like "Kamala, tell us, why are you so great?" "Bernie, what makes you so awesome" "Joe, is being Godlike a blessing for you or a curse" "Lizzy, you drinkum firewater, and cure all ills?" "Cory, is being Sparticus the only perfectnicity about you or are you also Hercules?" "Amy, when you are finished kicking the crap out of the makeup girl we would like to ask you about your wonderfulness?" and on and on.
Faux doesn't deserve a debate. They are a COMEDY Channel that nobody (repeat NOBODY) takes seriously.
LMAO.....So what you are saying is Hillary and BO the Peep appeared on Fox just to be the joke of the neighborhood, Right?
these debates, ( i use that word in it's loosest, broadest sense) are useless and staged aka rigged, everybody knows this... instead of media clowns (aka puppets) i'd like to see all of the candidates on stage, and one by one step down to the chair and question the other candidates... this will nearly ensure zero rehearsed responses, and if several 'team up' to get the the narrow end of the field, sobeit, eventually they'll need to cannibalize eachother... a much better 'show' of character it would be
I've been waiting for the right moment to reply here. I'm hoping they can dismiss the sins of the past. In 1999 the Republican prospects selected the format for a debate: asking each other questions. It got so bad the moderator apologized to the audience. Basically, when a likely nominee asked a longshot a question it was "So, Alan Keyes, have you read my proposal for tax reform and isn't it great?"
What does fox have to do with fair and balanced. They are multinational corporate owned like the rest of them. The only thing different between the 4 of them are catch phrases. Thank God for the internet where you can get independent voices on any range of subjects, from health care to war to taxes.
