Yeah I tried Lord Chesterfield, and I didn't really dig it...

My fav is Yuengling Black & Tan, so, I guess I'm a heavy beer guy, cause I also love Yuengling Porter & any variety of Guinness...

But, I would love to get to GB and try some of that real...

    Maybe one day...

Guiness is drinkable (if desparate!), but it's a pretty bland and characterless stout, and usually served far too cold to be tasted anyway. There are many much better stouts and porters around.

I agree that Heineken is much better served very, very cold. It avoids any possible danger of actually being able to taste the stuff!

'Warm' is a relative term, of course. We don't actually drink beer 'warm', but 'less cold'. Ale should be served at 'Cellar Temperature (12-14 degrees C, 54-57 degrees F), not 'chilled', because the temperature actually effects the way that human tastebuds work - if something is served too cold, the flavours of it will simply not be tasted (if it's served too warm, of course, that may allow other unwanted flavours to be developed).

Choosing a beer for the temperature outside is really a matter of beer style, not beer temperature - on a hot day you want something light, crisp, bitter and hoppy with perhaps some refreshing citrusy notes (perhaps a good IPA or Golden ale), but on a cold day you generally want something a little darker, heavier and sweeter; something malty with roasted chocolate, coffee and toffee kinds of flavours (like a good porter or stout). Those things aren't possible, though, if you serve the beer at the wrong temperature.

If I want something really cool and refreshing on a very hot day though, I might well go for a good quality 'real' cider (but not too many of them, though - they tend to be a fair bit stronger than ale, and all too easy to drink very quickly!).

Oh my aching head .. I know I know I know LOL

The best beer (ale) is the one I have bottled up myself in my garage.

I like it cold regardless of temp outside and it tastes awesome like that...warm beers are for poverty stricken cultures which can't afford refrigeration...

In Canada, don't you put things in the frig to keep them warm?

Beer, like wine, does not and can not taste as it should when served at the wrong temperature:
Different temperatures effect the actual taste. Beer should generally be at around 10–12°C (although some might say that dark ales and stouts should be just a few degrees warmer, and pale lagers a few degrees colder - no more than that, though), the same as is listed above for 'Medium bodied whites' and 'Light bodied red wines'. It shouldn't be as cold as a light white wine, nor at 'room temperature' like a full bodied red. There is a good, sound reason for it - you simply cannot get the correct balance of the various flavour elements at the wrong temperature:
    http://www.foodnavigator.com/Science-Nutrition/Food-temperature-affects-taste-reveal-scientists

Beer tasting is now every bit as 'sophisticated' as wine tasting, with courses available, tasting sessions, and so on. A 'beer sommelier' is now a recognised professional, along with his wine counterpart. There are various versions of tasting, flavour and aroma charts to describe the various possible flavours and notes:

Of course, there will always be some who don't bother to even try to appreciate it, and carry on with the 'well I know what I like and I'm sticking to it' attitide, and continue to drink flavourless, mass-produced, chemically induced fizz that's served so cold they don't have to risk actually tasting it (just as they drink wine of the cheapest and nastiest kind they can get their hands on, and have it half frozen to avoid tasting it). Good luck to 'em, I say - it's their loss, and they are missing out on so much, but that just leaves more for the rest of us!

Having been to NSW and had to drink stuff like VB and Tooheys New, I can't say I'm surprised! I only survived 3 weeks by finding Irish pubs and drinking creamflow Caffreys and Guiness - not good beer by any means, and always served far too cold, but certainly drinkable when you're at that level of desparation!

Don't drink VB or Tooheys, if I do it's old. I prefer Bundi when I go out

I appreciate good wines, red, white, ice, sparkling whatever...warm beer is disgusting no matter what "sophistication" angle you try to put on it ...

We're not talking about 'warm' beer (beer that was actually 'warm' would indeed be disgusting, and nobody would drink it like that), we're talking about beer that is just 'cool' (at around 'cellar temperature' of 10–12°C or 50–54°F), instead of being at freezing cold, for example at normal fridge temperature of about 3-5 °C (37-41 °F). That is too cold, and beyond the point where the human taste buds become unable to taste the different elements of flavour properly (and some bars serve it even colder than that, but then the mass produced, forced-fermented rubbish they are serving wouldn't taste of anything of much worthwhile anyway!).

Perhaps if a greater variety of good quality beers was tried, served at the correct temperature, some of the wine drinkers who appreciate the flavours of decent wines might realise what they have been missing!

I have no Dacha now, the time lacking. I had a Dacha five years ago, sold it. Now is better to buy a house in the suburbs than to have a Dacha. Although many people still have a Dacha, but now it's more like a hobby.
Did you like Smolensk. Very nice to hear. The city certainly needs more attention.
Now the situation is gradually corrected. If I'll have spare time I'll make
    pictures.
Now I'll add photos taken not by me

    What it's like...

Laid back for the most part but business is business and that's always serious.

    The weather...

Hot and dry in the dry season, not quite as hot in the wet season.

    The scenery...

The scenery varies from mountainous landscapes to small islands.

    Your favorite things about it...

The chilled out people and the spicy food

    Notable people from there...

A woman named Kartini who started a small girls' school and inspired a movement that ended with guaranteed
education for girls and equal rights for women. All at a time when many other countries hadn't even thought about it.
She now has a national holiday named after her and a law to make sure everyone observes her legacy.

    Anything at all...

    I love Indonesia

One of the downsides is anything to do with the roads. Whilst the situation is slowly improving, the lack of laws anyone takes note of is a major issue.

I like the way people here have a go at anything.
No job and no education - no problem, they just start a micro business.\\

Another downside is the poverty that so many endure. This guy will work in his rubbish collection business until he can no longer walk, then he'll probably die.
They make money by collecting old plastic bottles and selling them to plastic recycling companies. A full sack sell for around US 50 cents.

There is one thing I seriously dislike, and that a minority group of really hard line Muslims. They have various groups, but all share the same extremist stupidity.
Jakarta's governor is a Christian, a man voted into power in a city with an over 80% Muslim population, and he's doing a good job.
The mad element are trying to get rid of him because he's a Christian.
The leader of the group with the fattest mouths is on trial for various offences including insulting Indonesia's foundation and pornography stuff.
This tiny minority of B*ds is trying to mess the election up by "Guarding" polling stations - but the cops won't take that one.
I see them started trouble on election day, and the cops finishing it.
