As a conservative, I really like to see that Hillary is taking this approach and I hope all liberals buy into this narrative. If they choose to believe Hillary's explanation, then they will be unable to fix their systemic problems and they will continue to lose elections.

    I offer some alternative explanations:

The Obama economy was a disaster to the average American and the Democrats failed to make anything better for the average working stiff.

Obamacare was a disaster and although it benefited a very few individuals, it made everything worse for the average American.

Hillary was too drunk to campaign in the four states which truly mattered to ensure an Electoral College victory.

The American foreign policy under the stewardship of Hillary Clinton as the secretary of State was pretty much disasters and failures.

Is Hillary Clinton's assessment correct? If not, what explanations would you have for her election defeat?

There is a lot of blame to go around in an election that close (with such an unexpected outcome).

I wasn't affected negatively by the effects of Obamacare, and the definition of "average American" is very subjective.

Many "average Americans" (for example, low-income/self-employed people able to access Medicaid expansion) were helped immeasurably by Obamacare.

Obamacare helped exponentially more than just a "very few individuals".

It saved many lives among people who would be otherwise uninsured.

As far as why she lost?

In an election that close there are probably a million reasons.

But, if I was to narrow it down:

    1) Lack of enthusiasm among Blacks in Detroit and Milwaukee most likely cost her Michigan and Wisconsin.

    2) Obviously, an egregious misreading of the situation on the ground in Western PA.

But, once again, a lot of blame to go around in such an incredibly close election (that defied all predictive analysis).

Russian internet trolls didn't do crap.

Hillary could have won, if she wasn't a lying scumbag.

Misogyny? She wouldn't have done nearly as well if she were a man. Being The first woman president was probably her biggest asset.

I agree that there was a lack of enthusiasm for Hillary among African-Americans in Milwaukee and Detroit, but why didn't Hillary go to these areas to drum up some enthusiasm? She avoided these two states completely. It wasn't the African-Americans who didn't have the enthusiasm, it was Hillary who had the indifference to them. Hillary chose to campaign, for the most part, in states she was going to win anyways. Why was that? Or did the leaking of the Podesta e-mails in which Leon Penetta stated that Hillary needed to start sobering up for a campaign appearance in five hours offer the true reason Hillary chose not to campaign in those states which she absolutely had to win?

I will offer another explanation which ties in with your observation as to the closeness of the election. The appearance of a fixed election with the use of superdelegates to cheat the Bernie Sanders out of states he out right won in popular votes, but lost in delegate count, disenfranchised a percentage of Sanders supporters who simply stayed home instead of legitimizing the rigged nomination. In a razor thin election, even a few percent of Sanders supporters staying home made enough difference to ensure a Trump win. Please note that I do not believe Sanders would have won the nomination in a fair fight, but the appearance of cheating was enough. In politics, perceptions can be realities.

She wasn't running on anything except she has a vagina and it's her turn. She had nothing else.
We saw her stumble into the SUV and they claimed she had pneumonia, but instead of taking her to a hospital, they took her to someone's residence----------------------to sleep it off. Had they gone to a hospital, everyone would know she was just drunk. That and she couldn't be bothered to campaign in fly over country. Plus I think the Dems overall strategy of trying to convince us that she was soooo far ahead that we should just stay home, backfired. She wants to blame Comey but she should also blame Lil Debbie WS for getting caught sand bagging Bernie. Worst SoS and foreign policy ever.

Hillary lost because she is dishonest, untrustworthy, and was caught in so many lies. She and Obama appealed to everyone but hard working, christian, pro Americans.

Dems have been losing power since 2010. They lost the House in 2010, then the Senate in 2014, and finally the presidency in 2016.

There's no reason to stop them from losing again now. Next is a republican Senate SUPER MAJORITY in 2018. I'm betting they still don't get it.

The feeling that the presidency was OWED to her poured out of every pore in her body.

She's a horrible human being. The wikileaks documents simply verified that for a lot of people.

She also gave off the very real impression that she was above the voters, and talking to them was beneath her.

No, we weren't voting for Hilary no matter what Russian trolls did or didn't do. Maybe one day you will understand that we didn't need Russia or anyone else to sway our vote. Hillary was a bad candidate and we didn't want her to be president. Period.
We can't help that you won't accept that fact.

She thought that since she was a D she was, to quote forum member Andrew Jackson, a lock, and in doing so ignored the people she thought were guaranteed. Bill even warned her but she blew him off. If you aren't important enough for a visit during the campaign, you just aren't important.

    So you're speaking for everyone?

I saw Russian trolls claiming to be "liberals" affect Bernie supporters often.

    Were you a Bernie supporter?

    Of course not

Russian Bots! Misogyny! Racism! Sexism! Actually, no. She ran the worst presidential campaign since Hubert Humphrey and just like Humphrey she lost badly.

Very, very vaguely. His posts weren't memorable, just the name though. So you think that's one of the bots? Just asking.

Pretty much she lost because she was a very poor candidate. Left wingers wont admit it but she was a serial liar, and crooked. Further she supported Obama and his admin that pretty much was a total failure.

Hillary lost because Trump got more votes than she did in MI, WI and PA.

Beyond that, anybody is free to speculate.

    The outcome won't change.

    Hillary: "Why aren't I 50 points ahead?"
Me: "Because you insult every living being who could possibly vote for you, for not being 100% step in line, that's why."

Hillary lost for many reasons but the most important one is that she lacks charisma.

There is nothing bad about her that Trump isn't worse.

She's corrupt, a liar and a crook? Trump is a bigger one.

Hillary is far more qualified than Trump to be POTUS is every measurable aspect. She just didn't have the drawing power and that's really why she lost.

Trump however, is alluring to his base. And for this reason his supporters will put up with a lot of his lies, crookedness and corruption.
