Is it appropriate for a major party candidate make comments like she did? Is the national anthem a song of the 'oppressor'? Why will ultimately happen with the anthem protests?
"Is it appropriate for a major party candidate make comments like she did? Is the national anthem a song of the 'oppressor'? Why will ultimately happen with the anthem protests" She is not a major party candidate. She is a former major party candidate. She is now a private citizen and it is 'appropriate for her to make comments on the events of the day as she sees fit. The Democratic party does not 'own' her and her views virtually nothing to do with the Democratic party. She is neither an officer or spokesperson for it. I do not view comments made by Robert Dole or John McCain in 2018 as connected to the Republican party, since they are no longer standard-bearers for that party, are not holding any office or formal role in the GOP. m I don't see the national anthem as a 'song of the oppressor' myself,f but I am sure more than a few people may, The United States Government and its citizens has a history that includes some serious oppressing over the years, not that that has a ton to do with this bended knee business.... weird question. I don't know if this form of protest has seen its most prolific days or not. Its such a inconsequential matter, I don't think the question deserves much thought. This should be a bit yawn, but some idiots decided to make a drama out of it and turn it into a fraudulent litmus test for patriotism. Some patriots protest, some do not. Some patriots bend their knee, some do not. The whole thing is silly.
Well if you had watched the 11year old defending her position in front of the Baltimore school board, you would have found she was perfectly within her rights as defined by the U.S.Supreme Court.
What is with all these nosy judgemental dooshbags who are so interested in what people are doing during the piedge or the anthem. Get a friggin' life. People here in America are free to protest any way they like or kneel lay down or jump up and down during any pronouncement or song. . That freedom is one of the things our soldiers fight for. Can't thes nosy holier than thou busybodies understand that simple premise.
Protesting is a simple premise too, to bring attention to someone or something, aka making sure the "nosy holier than thou busybodies" pay attention. Protests wouldn't work very well if no one paid any attention now would they? Protests will also attract those not on your side as well, whether its because of the delivery of the protested message, or people who simply disagree with the premise. Let me be clear, if she wants to "protest" in school, that fine. More power to her and she has zero qualms from me for her delivery. Its much better than the NFL players. Still not sure why they aren't kneeling outside of the prisons where their family is staying, but then that probably would look too bias then.
Hillary was expert at riding Bill's coattails -- and protecting him at all costs. Otherwise she would be an unknown. Kareem was expert at putting round objects through a hoop. Otherwise he would be an unknown. I suspect neither could hold down a blue collar 9 to 5 job.
