I do not think either Sanders or Trump will do that unless they have very good reasons to think they can win the general.

But something very odd could happen in this environment. I would not be surprised to see an angry Bush or Kasich go third.

Thank you so much! I just got lucky. :)

been following politics since high school and my gf was part of a political family and got me interested. This is the oddest election of my lifetime. Anything could happen this cycle. I don't think either the Dems or the GOP ruling class realizes the extent of the anti establishment sentiment. Saw Lindsey Graham on TV yesterday and he acted like he was chewing glass with his rear end he was so mad about Trump

Trump really is driving the establishment crazy. He is neutering the news media - with ease, and both parties are very dependent on the MSM to exclude any 'heretics' from serious consideration.

it is as much distrust of the media as it is dissatisfaction of the political establishment. The constant demonization of all the major news networks by each party along with an obvious bias on the medias behalf has caused this. The media can only blame itself for this situation

it is time to let the elitists know we are mad as hell out here in flyover country

George McGovern was also a WWII bomber pilot. Yes, he was very honest and frank. He ran at the wrong time. It seems honest and frank politicians are not what the public is looking for when it comes to presidential elections.

Exactly right. And Americans are now mad as hell - and afraid.

“Record High in U.S. Say Big Government Greatest Threat, Now 72% say it is greater threat than big business or big labor”, by Jeffrey M. Jones, Gallup, 12/18/13.

A very small elite class running a damn mess should be very worried by a public that is both mad at them - and afraid.

Trump doesn't seem to need to. But if I were Sanders I'd be fuming. No way they can turn the result back to front like that.

I know his supporters are not happy. Sanders is probably more familiar with why the DP came up with the Super Delegate system (see Perotista's good summary on this thread). Nevertheless, he cannot be real happy.

The fact that HRC starts with over a 300 delegate lead without, in all probability, winning the popular vote in Iowa and after a landslide defeat in NH must be very discouraging to supporters and to donors.

It is a miracle he got out of WW II alive. Do you know if the DP undermined his campaign? They must have been afraid of him.

The public probably did not know how honest and frank McGovern really was. I was surprised to discover it - long after his lost campaign.

I did google it and have not found a single source that claims a Clinton victory as this thread title claims. Perhaps a moot point though as the superdelegates are the germane issue and I thank you for bringing their influence to my attention.

I highly doubt it. If there was one person in the world the DP really hated and wanted done away with, it was Nixon.

Here is a fresh poll right off the presses for Nevada.

    http://freebeacon.com/politics/free-beacon-poll-clinton-and-sanders-tied-in-nevada/

It seems Sanders has come from a 50-27 deficit to Clinton in December to a 45-45 tie for the upcoming Nevada Caucuses. Now Clinton has her ground game in place and Sanders is basically getting started. The bad news is the Nevada state Democratic Party is behind Clinton much like the Iowa Democratic Party.

I do not remember my search string, but I found many hits that relied on a Daily caller story - go figure. ;-) I heard it on the radio could have been a talker relying on the DC. I never listen with full attention.

Here is the latest - from a better source:

“The Democratic National Committee has rolled back restrictions introduced by presidential candidate Barack Obama in 2008 that banned donations from federal lobbyists and political action committees.
The decision was viewed with disappointment Friday morning by good government activists who saw it as a step backward in the effort to limit special interest influence in Washington. Some suggested it could provide an advantage to Hillary Clinton’s fundraising efforts.” “Politics, DNC rolls back Obama ban on contributions from federal lobbyists,” Washington Post, By Tom Hamburger and Paul Kane February 12 at 1:33 PM

It would take several shattering losses for Clinton to lose the nomination.

I remember when Obama banned lobbyists from his administration in the early days. A great idea - for a while.

That's like saying the Titanic sprung a slight leak - I can't imagine they're anything other than splitting blood. How can Sanders ever overturn that monumental stitch up of a lead? He was screwed from the outset. He might as well have not bothered.

He seems to have a big head of steam. He should tell the Democrats: to hell with you lot, either see that I'm treated fairly or I'm going independent.

I've not seen any coverage of this on CNN, which is the only one I watch of the two US channels I have access to (Fox the other). I hope it's getting coverage elsewhere.

I watched only a few minutes of the Fox report and the Greta intro - no mention. I suppose Hannity might cover it, but I doubt it.

Will check MOJO and The Nation.

After NH and news stories of a similar delegate gain for both candidates, I was mad as hell. People have since convinced me that with enough pressure, and Bernie winning the popular vote will for a LOT of them I think, be that pressure...they will switch to Bernie. Many are elected and can you imagine their answer in their next campaign to "I voted for Bernie and so did most of the people in this state ... why did you cast the equivalency of 100,000 of our votes for Hillary?". "Umm... I really liked her more." That would be the end of their career. Well they could get on the Clinton reelection staff I suppose...which is going to lose to Liz Warren.
