The ban is for the fasting period of the jain religion---a religion that totally opposes meat eating . It also confirms that the jain community ( which is also extremely rich ) is the main financer of the hindu nationalist BJP. NEW DELHI: Haryana on Saturday became the fifth BJP-ruled state to ban the sale of meat for a period of eight days during the Jain festival of Paryushan, ANI reported. According to ANI report, the Haryana government has issued the ban from September 11 to 18. Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh had earlier enforced a ban on meat in view of Paryushan. Chhattisgarh was the fourth state to enforce meat ban on Friday. The Chhattisgarh government ordered suspension of sale of meat during the eight-day long fasting period and 'Ganesh Chaturthi' festival. The BJP has drawn sharp criticism with several social activists and opposition parties alleging that the ruling government had no right to tell the people what to eat. Chhattisgarh bans meat sale during Jain, Ganesh festivals Meanwhile, the BMC on Friday informed the Bombay high court that it has lifted two days of ban on sale and slaughter of meat in Mumbai during the Jain festival. With this the ban on September 13 and 18 now stands lifted. The court did not stay the ban imposed by the state on September 17 and will pass orders on Monday. The high court, however, made it clear that in a cosmopolitan city like Mumbai a meat ban for a religious festival could not be put in place for too many days. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...-to-ban-sale-of-meat/articleshow/48933536.cms
Most Hindu Indians are dogmatically oriented and though they are educated their mindsets are ageold or primitive and that is why they protest against beef eating
most indians are dogmatically oriented , not just hindus . as sir v s naipaul has noted , muslims outstrip hindus in this dogmatic orientation .
