It means Republican Senators were doing exactly what they were elected to do when they stopped Obama from filling a seat with a Democrat, and now when they are helping Trump put a Republican on the court.

When professional politicians betray the people who elect them it becomes difficult for them win reelection.

Against all odds Trump has repeatedly challenged and defeated our corrupt bipartisan ruling political class.
Trump is an heroic figure. He is rather like IV Clorox flowing into the DC swamp.
Hence the RP/DPe's convulsive reaction to him.

What you are describing isn't precedent. It's called "petty party politics." Neither side should do this. There's nothing right about it. It's simply one side hedging their bets.

One thing to note, there's precedent to undo this too.

"It's only wrong when "their" team does it," said no free thinking person, ever.

    Partisans. Blech.

He can? Remember how he answered the reporter when asked what he would do with another four years?

"But so I think, I think it would be, I think it would be very, very, I think we'd have a very, very solid, we would continue what we're doing, we'd solidify what we've done, and we have other things on our plate that we want to get done,"

Were you present for Patrick Henry's speech at the Church? I fail to see the point.

I'm glad you concede that you find Trump as incoherent as I do because he doesn't speak English. And he modulates his voice like an SNL character. So I agree, Obama was a much better orator than either, but whereas Biden is say yards behind Obama, Trump is light years behind.

When did US Senators first become elected? After that date you can consider 'petty politics' as a motive. Although I still say most Senators are not purely political.

Considering the Republican party had no platform this year other than "whatever Trump wants," the baseline expectation from any Republican should probably be Trump-like scumbaggery until demonstrated otherwise. Romney is the only Republican legislator that currently has earned any benefit of the doubt. All the others got booted out of the party, like Justin Amash.

The Democrats have NEVER blocked a supreme court nomination just because it was POTUS last year.

only the Republicans have done it.

and now they have reversed it.

most likely next time a Democrat is President and there is a vacant SCOTUS seat in his/her 4th year, the GOP will once again block the nomination.

why? cause Republican Senators are gutless snakes.

Point being, they are both pretty old, both pretty creepy, and both lack the ability to form coherent sentences.

These are not selling points for either candidate, so they can't use it against each other, either.

Yah and history was on Obama’s side in 2016, republicans couldn’t care less.
And yes dems May have argued that but they never did it. Republicans actually did it, claimed it was a new precedent, then again said they couldn’t care less.

History and the Constitution was on President Obama's side in 2016.

The Republicans told him however to go **** himself and **** the Constitution.

So you're not familiar with Henry's "Give me liberty or give me death!" speech and his oratorical skills? Nevermind...

Huh? I conceded that neither Trump nor Biden can be mistaken for a great orator.

I'm not sure what you're agreeing with because I don't consider Obama an orator, either:

He was nothing without the TOTUS. At his best he was a two-bit MLK Jr. impersonator...

The Constitution was on both Obama and the Senate's side. As far as History is concerned, Obama came up short.

Yes, Republicans did tell Obama to go **** himself, and they were well within their Constitutional authority to do so.

if the Republican senators had any integrity they would have at least had hearings and then voted against his confirmation.

But they refused to even allow hearings. Because they are gutless snakes.

Only if they have the senate, as they should. Dems would do the same. Welcome to fair play.

No the Democrats would follow their own president if they were in charge.

what we were seeing today is pure evidence that the Senate Republicans are hypocritical snakes.

My faith and respect in them has been shattered.

I only hope and pray that someday they will pay the price for what they are doing
